    Both food delivery apps I work on claim lunchtime is a 'peak' period, where demand spikes. I decided to test that theory... and not to my benefit!

      Thank you! Life has been manic as a new dad, plus we’ve had a new roof being done at the flat and we’ve had to go stay with my parents whilst that’s going on (too noisy for the baby to nap) so the videos took a hit, but things are getting back to normal now. I’m gonna keep the videos coming. Thanks for the encouragement!

    Totally understandable why the riders/drivers strike lately on just eat and delivery’s, it just isn’t worth the money, but if they up pay the food will go up so it’s a crazy situation :/ but I feel for delivery drivers/riders

      Yep, I understand the business challenges of maintaining a free login model for drivers so we can work when and where we want, they have to make sure they always have the coverage, but they’ve gone too far. 3 years ago, things were perfect, the apps weren’t too expensive for customers and the driver numbers were about right, it was busy almost every night and most daytimes were steady too. We could make good money and customers were happy. Now it’s all gone tits up.

    I think it heavily depends on where you are, when I'm waiting 10m away from the middle of town i get 2 orders an hour max, but if I park within a few minutes of a busy restaurant it's non-stop orders. There's obviously lots of factors when it decides who gets offered which order, but i'm pretty sure this is one of them. I've had periods where I've been stuck waiting for 30m+, but soon as I park at one of those restaurants I get an order strait away. It's barely 1-2 miles difference but clearly matters. I'm guessing this why you weren't offered much at the start of the video, your distance to the busy restaurants was greater then the majority of the drivers in the area, just taking a guess here though. My area is Carlisle which has a slightly higher population then yours, so could just be that

    Mate Uber has become an absolute joke in Sheffield also, a whole heap of new drivers. It definitely benefits the apps massively this way they can make sure they have so many drivers that the crap paid jobs are guaranteed to be picked up. In my experience just eat is the best at the moment, I respect that they limit the amount of drivers they take for one and I also believe they pay better. I am surprised you mention Amazon flex as a good thing I found I did way to many miles on Amazon flex for the pay I got, as mad as it sounds I was making more on Uber than Amazon flex but that could be because I don’t really know the best tips working for Amazon. Thanks for the video it was a great watch 💯

    • @autohustles
      @autohustles  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I would love to see them get rid of substitutes - they keep it there solely to prove to governments that we're truly self-employed. That is the ONLY reason they have the substitute option. They know it opens doors to dodgy workers and account renting/selling. But as long as they can continue to operate the model they have, they don't care. I like being self-employed in this job, but I hate that it attracts illegal workers to undermine everyone who does it properly.

      My audience is still pretty small compared to some delivery TH-camrs! But I think the main problem is the companies hiring too many people. I want to inspire people to try the job, but I don’t want the companies to just let everyone do it whenever they want to sign up, we need to have a good balance and at the moment it’s not there. If you are ordering for multiple people its fine but if you are only ordering for yourself then I can see how that would put many people off. I personally can't justify spending 20+ on a meal. If I'm feeling too lazy to cook I can easy go down the road to a supermarket and get a ready meal or pizza for far less than £20!

      I’ve noticed that this year I’ve earned way more on Uber Eats than Deliveroo, and that’s never been the case before. This could be a reason why. Deliveroo also lost KFC from the platform. Not looking good for them tbh.

      Horrendous isn't it, not only that but recently some of the newbies I've seen have been stealing orders, went to pick up a Morrisons and was told it was already collected, saw the guy outside on his moped drinking a Red Bull from the bag he stole. Had to hold myself back from confronting him. We need a crackdown.

      It’s an algorithm that selects a rider to offer the job to - it offers the job to “the most suitable” available rider. What that means exactly is a closely guarded secret to these companies. But location, delivery history, vehicle type, traffic conditions etc. are all factors.

    been thinking about maybe trying this, but i do wonder if it is worth it now, as i do see a lot of riders sitting around all over the place around Birmingham. so even in a big city there could still be to many riders. I was wondering how it works when you take out the insurance where you pay by the hour, how do the insurance company know when your working, are they monitoring the the apps to know when you are working ?
