ah yes i had an experience with the Portsmouth version of this, made us go to some day training in Cardiff and pay for the mini bus, when i quit i got told if i was going to cry about it i should leave as i found it morally wrong and for 2 weeks spent my time knocking on peoples doors and telling them why we were in the area and not to open there doors to the others. really pissed me off as a veteran that help for hero's used this lot as well as well as the rspca
Must have made you furious being a veteran and seeing the way funds were being raised for Help For Heroes etc. There's also We R Blighty and Veterans In Need, both CICs that apart from chugging, they go door to door with a card machine. Walter Mitty Hunters Club HQ expose them regularly, hate all the pressure tactics from dodgy companies under the guise of charity- disgusting how they conduct themselves.
They’re right not to do so. I have a principle that time is more valuable than money. I would rather volunteer my time to a charity rather than give my money towards it.
Oh wow. That’s actually crazy. When I graduated from university, I worked for a company like this in London and for me it was Alzheimer’s. Honestly the exact same thing was said when the guy said” and just like the other neighbors, we can count on your support.” I left after one week. Just felt ashamed knocking on people doors and annoying them.
I was involved in one of these scams here in America and it’s so similar! I was in my early twenties and barely earned anything. This is not the exception of the rule but the norm with these organizations.
I worked for one of these for a year, good experience, but poor wages; it's essential like a lottery, your colleague might get the door, make the sale and you'll look over thinking "if only I had knocked", while you've made none that day, they've made their first, it's 8pm, dark and raining. Literally all the practices presented in this video is exactly how that company was ran, and the exact same practices we were told to follow on the doors. It wouldn't suprise me if they are linked (they have offices up and down the country).
Nice investigation- funny how much the scammers who run the company talked at the start and how little when confronted! The sort of pressure sales tactics used, if used on me are likely to result in a bucket of cold water, or, more legally, me just filming them- you know it's dodgy when a salesperson won't go on camera! I detest this sort of exploitation- both of the "self employed" workers who get no pay and of the vulnerable people they try to get to hand over money. If approached by a "chugger" in the street- I am likely to be extremely rude, but, I'd imagine it'd be quite effective to start recording them with my phone- on facebook live!
I worked for a company like this in Bournemouth. Absolutely hated it. Felt awful and I had no idea beforehand that it was door to door selling especially monthly payment rather than 1 or 2 pounds towards the charity. Sickening. Just looked at my CV and the company was called Fast Track Promotions
Don't stand there talking just to be polite. Just like street beggars and charity muggers they will take your politeness as a weakness. Just say "NO THANK YOU. We don't have any money. "And close the door.
I used to do, door to door sales a long time ago as a broke student in Newcastle. Nothings changed I see. Absolute worst job I’ve ever had. Truly terrible.
The reason they called the reporter tomato and other ridiculous names, is these guys believe themselves so intelligent and capable, that they can convince someone into a sale even with the "handicap" of silly names. It's actually quite sad
I work in social services for the elderly and this is absolutely heartbreaking.. these young people trying to be buisnessmen is comical.. parents must be really proud
I’ve worked in direct sales for nearly 10 years and I’ve never cold called or put anyone under pressure like these guys do. The way they operate is terrible and I don’t know how they get away with it
I did this for 8 months. It's absolutely a cult like feeling. You don't realise you're in it until it's too late. Glorifying 12 hour days, 6 days a week all with the carrot dangling the reward of progression and owning your own office. They message you on job sites and you wonder to yourself did I even apply for this role? Then they make you feel amazing to begin with only to forget about you immediately if you don't hit targets. The toll it takes on your mental health is deep rooted. Glad to see it getting called out for what it is, evil!
There are Credico sub-companies doing this in every city in the country, it's absolutely infuriating because by design it's impossible to shut down. Every time I look for a new job I spot a bunch of their misleading adverts talking about a "football mindset" and sure enough I spot another sub-company with a dodgy vague website, all doing door to door and city center sales or charity sign ups. I'm at the stage where if someone knocks on my door to try to sign me up for a charity, I ask them who sent them, look up their site whilst I'm talking to them and then warn them they've not going to get paid what's been promised and they're likely working under the Credico umbrella without even knowing it. Every time you out or investigate the companies, those specific sub-companies shut down but the bigger umbrella just keeps going, because the whole reason they're instructed to make their own companies, is to legally protect the larger group (and the people running them get to play pretend that they're entrepreneurs)
What's even worse is that they all use the same script across all of the sub companies. It's actually terrifying how robotic all these offices become. Speaking from personal experience. They suck
Sad thing is they'll just do some other door to door sales now. I'm sure it's the same people I had an interview with years ago. They were selling sky TV door to door back then. As soon as they described the role, I asked "is this door to door sales?". Interviewer said some bullshit of how it isn't technically door to door selling. "I said I disagree with your practise and business" and walked out. It's a scummy sector. No door to door sales or sign ups should be allowed at all in my opinion.
Watching this triggered such severe anxiety in me. I once worked for an office in East London called Tofkae and Omg those people were extremely evil! Absolute worst work experience of my life! Your treated like an absolute animal! If your reading this DONT work for those people! Your only paid via commission and next to nothing, F those wicked people
@@maxdee9223 The only thing I lost working for those people was too much brain cells, they encourage you to lie to innocent people in order to scam them into signing up to spend their money so that you can get a commission. They teach you tactics to trick people into signing and tell you to keep a fake smile on your face while your doing it. I work at a wonderful job now and can sleep better at night so I’m good thanks I’ll keep that fake attitude they wanted me to have lost as hell 👍🏻
People should note that not all companies are like this, I work for a very similar company however there is no pressure selling, signing up vulnerable people is completely forbidden and they pay you a standard fee for making people aware of the brand even if you dont get sales which actually works out to being a lot more then most jobs pay and people can choose to go commission only and they get extra commission from what they sell. Everyone there loves their job and the CEO is completely transparent and easy to talk to.
100% Same here man. We do use persuasion tactics but are very transparent about our fundraising; in the end it is a net positive and we put money into charities pockets. Plus we have a basic pay as well as transparent commission and anyone who puts in a little effort will easily make a liveable wage. If you aren't good at the job they just hand ya the basic pay and then fire you, it's really all about what you produce, and what you bring to the table. We're all getting paid, the charities getting paid, and people are helping out, and the only questionable thing we do is use persuasion tactics; which is what sales is all about, plus every one uses persuasion in day-to-day life, it's human nature, what matters is using it for good outcomes and intentions; we're not persuading people to buy crap they don't use, we're literally using this power to make life-changing impacts on the lives of the unfortunate. On the flip side; there are so many schemes going on in door-to-door stuff, so many bad people like these companies, it really sucks how they disgraced our name.
@@robyou8511it's a charity tho. People give to charity believing their donations are going towards the cause that the charity is set up for, not for people like you to pay your rent. I have worked for a charity in the past and I will never donate to another charity again. The majority of all donations just go towards making the CEO very rich and paying vultures like you. None of you give a toss about the cause the charity was set up for in the first place.
@@kieranb7047 I see your point, and I used to think like you, however all of the financial statements are public for charities. A lot of charities have 80 cents to the dollar go directly to the cause. 12 cents to admin, 8 cents to fundraisers etc. Now I'll address your next objection before you even say it: "Okay well even if 80 cents to the dollar go to the cause, 20 cents go to other ppl who don't deserve it; making them rich, so it's bad!" Well think of it this way, if it was 100 cents to the dollar, then nobody would be running the show and nobody would be bringing in money. People need money to survive. So yes you can say I made $72,000 this year off of money people "meant" to donate, but I also raised $800k that directly went into the cause, and helped the needy, and if it wasn't for me; they wouldn't have had surplus of 800k in funds to use, think of how many hundreds more people I helped as well as myself. So should I just quit this job and get another profession, being detrimental to hundreds of needy people? Or should I raise funds for them and take a cut for myself? Even if I didn't give a toss about the charity; my actions had a net positive on people's lives. Would you rather someone who gave a toss about you but was a net negative on your life? We have to use logic here, capitalism is in everything whether we like it or not, what matters is the results!

ah yes i had an experience with the Portsmouth version of this, made us go to some day training in Cardiff and pay for the mini bus, when i quit i got told if i was going to cry about it i should leave as i found it morally wrong and for 2 weeks spent my time knocking on peoples doors and telling them why we were in the area and not to open there doors to the others. really pissed me off as a veteran that help for hero's used this lot as well as well as the rspca
You're a legend. Proper genuine human
this journalist is sick! 🔥
Should have known someone with the name of Jamal would be leading it.
These companies have been operating at least 30yrs, the things they sell vary but its exactly the same set up.
I do not give to ANY charity...
What an incredible statement to be proud of, well done you
Don't ever
@@Blastoice It's their money. Why you mad?
Any big charity
They’re right not to do so. I have a principle that time is more valuable than money. I would rather volunteer my time to a charity rather than give my money towards it.
Worked for a place like this didn’t get paid for 4 weeks work, got told to take it to a small claims court by the manager instead of just paying me.🤣🤣
Yeah because it will cost you 2k to do it
who gonna pay 2k to get less back
its why they do it

@@BoSSLeVeLs Why will it cost at least 2k to do it ?

These guys are scum tricking employees with these crap jobs but the charties that use these companies I would say are just as scummy
i treat everyone who knocks on my door like the TV licence sales people " no thank you " door shut
£39,000 is outlandishly high?
Great journalism
It’s these kinds of companies that made me never give to ANY charity. There are much better, effective ways to give to people in need.
Exactly the same with me, the company was AJG Direct
Great piece of investigative journalism 👏
I recently just fell for a similar firm commission only pay quit after 2 days very similar to this set up here literally an identical set up
The first salesman was borderline insane
Also worth saying 90% of the people who work there are desperate minimum wage people - don't hate them for trying to work.
Never ever buy anything sold at the door...
What about cookies made by girl scouts ?
I worked for a company like this in Bournemouth. Absolutely hated it. Felt awful and I had no idea beforehand that it was door to door selling especially monthly payment rather than 1 or 2 pounds towards the charity.
Sickening.
Just looked at my CV and the company was called Fast Track Promotions
Absolute top quality journalism, fair play
Don't stand there talking just to be polite. Just like street beggars and charity muggers they will take your politeness as a weakness. Just say "NO THANK YOU. We don't have any money. "And close the door.
I would & do, but certain demographics find it hard to be this firm/slightly rude
My door stays slammed shut to everyone but the postman or the neighbour/family/friend. Get a peep hole or ring doorbell.
The guy walking away when asking about basic pay 😅
It's like something from a comedy skit.
Love these rogue trader type programmes. More please
I'm the first to criticise journalists (having worked in journalism myself), but credit where it's due, this is a great bit of work!
Absolutely mint journalism. Well done Conor.
I work in social services for the elderly and this is absolutely heartbreaking.. these young people trying to be buisnessmen is comical.. parents must be really proud
The movie “Wolf of Wall Street” definitely celebrates this terrible greed. They even have a cameo from the original conman at the end.
There are absolutely zero surprises in here. From the “leadership” , to the lies , abuse, predatory behaviour and greed.
I remember doing a job like this in Cardiff for a day. Many years ago. Never again. They are pricks
*Send these corrupted, misleading & vile companies to watchdog & trading standards*
I’ve worked in direct sales for nearly 10 years and I’ve never cold called or put anyone under pressure like these guys do. The way they operate is terrible and I don’t know how they get away with it
11:37 it was a typo. They really meant 40.00 to 65.00£ a week
I sold Caltex power and then charities in 1998! This s.hit has been going on for over 30 years and longer...
🚫🚫🚫🚫 I Never donate to any charity.. There is always some fat cat cashing in.. 🙄
They suck
this feels like how all sales job are
You can donate to almost any charity online. There’s no need to donate to any door to door charity.
Wow these guys are really passionate about their charity. I’m glad the money is at least going to the needy.
British people stop giving money to charities
Your only paid via commission and next to nothing, F those wicked people
I actually enjoyed my time working for one of these companies yes it was stressful but if you made enough sales you could make decent money
@@joshparker1517So why did you quit?

Lost your attitude
Yeah same here. I'm based in a leeds office doing british red cross Residntial and I love this job lol. 500-1000 a week lol
r u still working there? what part of the training program r u at?@@XavierPersuades
Now I'll address your next objection before you even say it:
"Okay well even if 80 cents to the dollar go to the cause, 20 cents go to other ppl who don't deserve it; making them rich, so it's bad!"
Well think of it this way, if it was 100 cents to the dollar, then nobody would be running the show and nobody would be bringing in money.
I worked for a company like this over 10 years ago. I can't believe it still goes on.
These people knocked on our door once, they use every dirty trick in the book. They use manipulation tactics like guilt tripping, repetition and pleading. Truly awful way to squeeze out money from people, completely unethical.
Wow good job. Now that’s journalism; making a difference. Bravo
