Full English is bacon, sausage, eggs, baked beans, black pudding, mushrooms and a fried slice. Band Maid however are the real deal; best rock band for years.
They were playing hengao with the the drummer, Akane to try and put her off . It never works lol. You ain't seen nothing yet, rock ballads through to hard rock bordering on metal, jazz, blues, punk and acoustic versions of their songs that can make you cry. Oh and sometimes they can be just plain crazy, all the while sounding like Band Maid. prediction - you are going to fall in love with Misa, the barefoot assassin on bass.
Miku (rhythm guitar, vocals and lyrics) who started the band came up with the idea when she was working in a maid cafe, the contrast (gap) between a hard rock band dressed as maids. Long story short, Saiki (vocals) and Misa (bass) were not entirely onboard (understatement) with dressing as maids so they developed their costumes into Spanish Maid and Croatian/ Chinese Maid ( yeah right). The result is that their costumes now are a fair reflection of their personalities although whilst Misa loooks badass and scary (nickname The Barefoot Assassin), truth be told she is extremely shy and wouldn't say boo to a goose.
The 'Croatian' maid thing was translation error in an interview. The correct translation was 'assassin'. But yeah Saiki's dress is Spanish maid inspired while MISA's s Chinese.
@@Davey-Boyd Exactly. The original translator mistook 殺し屋/Koroshiya (Killer, or Assassin) with クロアチ/Kuroachia (Croatian). Those two words sound similar in Japanese, and the person translating an early TV interview with BAND-MAID mistranslated that spoken word.
All these girls have so much talent. Misa the bass player, in my opinion, is the best I’ve ever seen. At 65 years I’ve seen many. The drummer rocks and the lead guitarist rips that guitar to shreds. They all have so much talent!

The name 'Domination' is about dominating the world with their "service" which is what they call a concert. They gather around the drummer, Akan. and make funny faces at her to make her laugh and see if she screws up the hard part. It's a common thing in Japan called, hengao 変顔 へんがお means “strange face”. MISA the Barefoot Assassin was the first to ditch the apron. She wears all black, and as the "Cool Asian Beauty", opted for a Traditional Chinese Cheongsam dress. Saiki, The Queen, was next. She still has elements of Maid in her costume but more subdued than the others. The Darkness Sisters give them their edge. Akane switched to shorts rather than a skirt. It' just more practical when drumming, like losing the tiny hat. Miku the founder and Kanami the lead guitarist are still in full on Maid Mode.
When the lead is playing a PRS through Mesa Boogie's and the rhythm's got a signature Zemaitis guitar and using EVH 5150's you know somethings going on.
I don’t even care that I don’t know what they are singing. The vocals sound good and the music is fantastic. I suggest reacting to their live video for “Manners/Black Hole” for two very different but sides of them.

Actually when the group began they all wore similar outfits, then as time went on Saiki and MISA turned Gothic on us. Most often MISA and Kanami are doing their solos at the same time. The whole maid thing is meant to emphasize the idea of a "gap" between the style of dress and the hard rock sound. Whatever you do, don't get stuck on the cos factor, because Band-Maid is the real deal. The lead guitarist has played classical piano since age five, the drummer and bassist went to the Tokyo School of Music, the lead singer is IMO one of the best vocalists working today, and they have a master lyricist (although mostly in Japanese). They play a blend of musical styles whose core is hard rock. The songs are extremely well-composed, hook-driven, and consistently great. Also, like you said, everyone contributes: lines are weaving in and out from every instrument and voice. Often, it's a good idea to listen to a song more than once to hear each contribution to the whole. Enjoy the ride, and see you on the next one: maybe Warning (MV), Blooming (MV), Play (Live), Sense (MV), Black Hole (live). If you want to slow it down, try Daydreaming (MV).

They started the maid thing to differentiate themselves, like Slipknot's masks, and stuck with it. The point was create a contrast between look and sound to show that you shouldn't judge girls by how they look. After 10 years, I don't think they expect to get much of a reaction to their clothes. And many foreign bands throw some English lines into their songs. Students study English in a lot places so it connect them to the world. If you react to them again, you should comment on the music. I believe the obsession started in 1966 when Beatles visited Japan and held 5 concerts at Budokan. The way they blend styles within the framework of hardrock is truly original, they mix in everything from jazz to trash metal, and they can play any style with ease. Their catalog contains more than 110 songs. Their latest album is way more heavy then the ones before it, and their latest EP is drifting into prog metal territory. They will release a new EP this summer, and it may be even more prog metal from the few sneak peaks they have dropped. I love Band-Maid for their diversity of styles and for being such incredible musicians. Misa, the bassist, is also know as the Barefoot Assassin. Two reasons: She murders the bass, & secondly, she refers to her maids dress as the 'Assassins Tunic'. If you really want to see her shine, have a look at the 'Manners/Black Hole' live video. A two for one clip. It's on their website. The woman owns both songs. Oh! if you didn't know, the 'barefoot' reference comes from the fact that she plays all their shows in bare feet. You see them in different clips from time to time.

They are the #1 Japanese band in the world right now. Babymetal is on a hiatus for now. They have toured internationally since 2016 and will be touring the US in October with most venues already sold-out. FYI they refer to their costumes as their "battle armor"!! Hey kids I have seen Led Zeppelin live and most of the greats since and now I have VIP tickets For Band Maid in Phoenix and I am just as excited as I was back then. These young ladies are the real deal and have a different something but it is great whatever that is!
They were making faces at the drummer trying to throw her off. They never get her. The singer tried to get the drummer on her own in another video and the drummer made her laugh in the middle of a verse. Don't let the maid thing throw you. Their costumes may be a gimmick, but their talent is not.
Yeah, Band maid is tops and Misa kills it every time. If you want to hear bass slapping throughout the songs check out Gacharic Spin and their bassist F Chopper Koga. Band Maid Info Dump Band Maid was started in 2013 by Miku Kobato. At the time she had just left the Idol Group, Lil Cumin and she didn't like the type of music she had been performing. She approached her management agency with the idea of making an actual band playing rock music but dressed as maids. She had worked in a Maid Cafe and thought the image of maids playing rockin music would create what she called "The Gap" between what you see and what you hear. The Management company was like Ok, go ahead. Miku then looked around and found Kanami a singer/songwriter who was posting her own videos on the internet. Miku contacted her and Kanami thought the idea was cool and agreed to join. Miku then asked if Kanami knew a drummer who might be interested. Kanami had worked with Akane in the past and literally walked over to Akane's apartment and asked her. Akane was actually hesitant as she had worked in an "All Girl Group" before and didn't enjoy it as it wasn't the type of music she wanted to play. After hearing a Demo, Akane was like ok, but was still slightly hesitant because of the "Maid Outfits", but she agreed to give it a try. Akane was asked if she knew a bass player and she had gone to Tokyo School of Music with MISA and had worked a couple of jobs with her. So Misa was contacted and after she heard a demo she was like I like the music, but she also was hesitant about the "Maid Outfits", but she relented and joined in as she really wanted to play the kind of music she heard in the demo. Now we have the "Core" members. I'm not too sure about the part but if I am wrong other Maidiacs will correct me in the comments. The 4 members worked out some songs and a setlist and from my understanding, they had actually performed 2 or 3 times with just Miku on main vocals. I may be wrong on that so don't take that as canon. Miku after those performances felt that her voice wasn't powerful enough to really perform the songs she wanted. So she approached her management company again and asked if they had any singers who weren't in other projects. Saiki was signed to the same management company and had done some work as a backup singer and dancer and was asked if she would be interested in auditioning for this new group which currently had 4 members and she would be the fifth. (I'm not sure about this part as I can't find the comment I read over on Reddit) She had been a member of a group with 8 other people and HATED it. So she listened to the demo and thought "Cool" because she liked the music. Now we come to the tricky part. Miku KNEW that if Saiki was told about the "Maid Outfits" she would say NO WAY!, so they didn't tell her. They told her they would have "Cool Clothes", and she never met Miku until a few days before they had a contracted performance. She wasn't told about the "Maid Outfits" until I believe it was 2 days before the performance, and she had considered backing out, but she had signed the contract. So the Ladies, went and did the performance and Saiki really, REALLY liked the crowds reaction and the music they were performing. She DIDN'T like the apron she wore so it got ditched after the first performance. And you now have the beginnings of the BEST LIVE HARD ROCK BAND in the WORLD! ALL HAIL BAND MAID!!!!! Now that we have the Full band, it was felt that there needed to be a second guitar. Saiki was like, "Not Me, No Way." So Miku said, "I'll do it.", at first that was literally all she did, was hold the guitar and mime playing it, until Akane said, if you are going to hold it, you NEED to learn to play it. And Miku said, "Ok.", and Kanami started to teach Miku how to play. The Ladies released their first album in 2014 "Maid in Japan" which only charted to #26 in Japan.
Then in 2015 they released "New Beginning" On New Beginning was the song that changed Band Maid's entire existence. "Thrill"... The band was getting ready to release their first music video and the choice was between "Love, Passion, Matador" and "Thrill" and the ladies chose Thrill. This became the seminal moment of Band Maid. Because their second album hadn't even charted, the record company was seriously considering disbanding the Ladies and switching them to other projects. (In fact they had Kanami and Akane work with Mochi to Cheese thinking that when Band Maid cratered they could use them in another band). However about 6 months after the video's release, a Facebook page "JRock Radio" posted the video to their timeline. And the video went viral. Having over a million views in just a few short weeks. The Ladies Twitter page got so many hits they thought their page had been hacked. Their TH-cam channel also started getting more and more subscribers and views to Thrill. Now the ladies knew where their fans wanted them to go. Harder Rock, less pop. And history was Maid. The following info is from a comment left by TH-cam user @DanW60 Thrill was from their album New Beginning which was released in November, 2015. They didn't write any of the songs or lyrics on the album and it was only 33 minutes. As mentioned, Miku didn't even know how to play guitar at the time. The album went nowhere in Japan and their small label called Gump was about to drop them. Gump's plan was to keep Miku and Saiki as a singing and dancing duo and let the rest go. Then a miracle happened. The music video for Thrill became a huge hit on TH-cam, especially in the west. Band-Maid was saved and they changed labels to Crown Stones (a sub-label to a really big Japanese media company called Nippon Crown). Their 2016 album, Brand New maid, peaked at #19 on the Japanese charts but only one song was written by Kanami and it was only 31 minutes in length. Finally, in January 2017, they released the album Just Bring It which was a full album at 50 minutes. More importantly, 9 of the 13 songs were written by Kanami. In my opinion, it was the first true Band-Maid album. The album got as high as #16 in Japan and also charted in the UK. The next 3 albums - World Domination, Conqueror and Unseen World - all charted top 10 in Japan and charted overseas. All the songs were written by Kanami. She is the one that has pushed Misa and Akane to be as good as they are now, and also very successfully taught Miku to play guitar.
I really like this band and another all female Japanese band Lovebites. I think they should drop the maid outfits though. That have an Acoustic set that was very good and they did not have the maid outfits. The official video from that is down now so you won't be able to find it. I paid to see the entire concert, which was only available for a few months.

Love watching your Jinjer videos as they are my favorite band. Right behind them are a pack of classic metal bands (Maiden etc) and loads of Japanese metal bands. Many of those J-Metal bands are all female or have female members. I highly suggest Nemophilia (2nd fav band), Maximym the Hormone, Unlucky Morpheus, Lovebites and of course more Band Maid.
The best rock band with the most songs. For something heavier but just as good try NEMOPHILA they will rock your world and they do a lot of covers so you can listen to one of the covers then react to one of their own songs. Try REVIVE.

The idea was to take demure Japanese women wearing maid outfits and knocking you on your ass with their rock proficiency. You need to check out some of their other TH-cam videos and focus on the music, not their outfits. One of the best official live videos is "Manners/Black Hole. You'll see their versatility as musicians.

Full English is bacon, sausage, eggs, baked beans, black pudding, mushrooms and a fried slice. Band Maid however are the real deal; best rock band for years.
They were playing hengao with the the drummer, Akane to try and put her off . It never works lol. You ain't seen nothing yet, rock ballads through to hard rock bordering on metal, jazz, blues, punk and acoustic versions of their songs that can make you cry. Oh and sometimes they can be just plain crazy, all the while sounding like Band Maid. prediction - you are going to fall in love with Misa, the barefoot assassin on bass.

Miku (rhythm guitar, vocals and lyrics) who started the band came up with the idea when she was working in a maid cafe, the contrast (gap) between a hard rock band dressed as maids. Long story short, Saiki (vocals) and Misa (bass) were not entirely onboard (understatement) with dressing as maids so they developed their costumes into Spanish Maid and Croatian/ Chinese Maid ( yeah right). The result is that their costumes now are a fair reflection of their personalities although whilst Misa loooks badass and scary (nickname The Barefoot Assassin), truth be told she is extremely shy and wouldn't say boo to a goose.
The 'Croatian' maid thing was translation error in an interview. The correct translation was 'assassin'. But yeah Saiki's dress is Spanish maid inspired while MISA's s Chinese.

Those two words sound similar in Japanese, and the person translating an early TV interview with BAND-MAID mistranslated that spoken word.

MIKU: “Band-Maid’s concept is about creating contrast - how we look and how we sound are worlds apart. One is cute and submissive in nature, the other is wild, powerful and dominant. I thought that idea was interesting. Basically, we want to defy expectations.”
Interviewer: Maid outfits aren’t exactly rock ‘n’ roll. What is your ultimate heavy metal costume?
“Now Band-Maid’s outfits are part of rock n roll, so we pick these!”
Band-Maid is a REALLY GREAT rock group. Great musicians, great vocals. They just need more play in the States.
They surround the drummer and makes funny faces to her to try and get her to mess up. They have so much fun together.
The name 'Domination' is about dominating the world with their "service" which is what they call a concert. They gather around the drummer, Akan. and make funny faces at her to make her laugh and see if she screws up the hard part. It's a common thing in Japan called, hengao 変顔 へんがお means “strange face”. MISA the Barefoot Assassin was the first to ditch the apron. She wears all black, and as the "Cool Asian Beauty", opted for a Traditional Chinese Cheongsam dress. Saiki, The Queen, was next. She still has elements of Maid in her costume but more subdued than the others. The Darkness Sisters give them their edge. Akane switched to shorts rather than a skirt. It' just more practical when drumming, like losing the tiny hat. Miku the founder and Kanami the lead guitarist are still in full on Maid Mode.
When the lead is playing a PRS through Mesa Boogie's and the rhythm's got a signature Zemaitis guitar and using EVH 5150's you know somethings going on.
Be very careful, Maids with lasers are addictive. Soon, you won't even notice the maid outfits, you'll only see the light. Thanks guys! 🕊

BAND-MAID is celebrating its 9th year of formation. BAND was formed by a girl who came to Tokyo from a local city Kumamoto of Japan to become a singer when she was about 19 years old. Wow, my left eye twitched when I heard kpop
The whole maid thing is meant to emphasize the idea of a "gap" between the style of dress and the hard rock sound. Whatever you do, don't get stuck on the cos factor, because Band-Maid is the real deal. The lead guitarist has played classical piano since age five, the drummer and bassist went to the Tokyo School of Music, the lead singer is IMO one of the best vocalists working today, and they have a master lyricist (although mostly in Japanese). They play a blend of musical styles whose core is hard rock. The songs are extremely well-composed, hook-driven, and consistently great. Also, like you said, everyone contributes: lines are weaving in and out from every instrument and voice. Often, it's a good idea to listen to a song more than once to hear each contribution to the whole. Enjoy the ride, and see you on the next one: maybe Warning (MV), Blooming (MV), Play (Live), Sense (MV), Black Hole (live). If you want to slow it down, try Daydreaming (MV).

They were making faces at the drummer, Akane. They do that to try and make her mess up but she never does.
They started the maid thing to differentiate themselves, like Slipknot's masks, and stuck with it. The point was create a contrast between look and sound to show that you shouldn't judge girls by how they look. After 10 years, I don't think they expect to get much of a reaction to their clothes. And many foreign bands throw some English lines into their songs. Students study English in a lot places so it connect them to the world. If you react to them again, you should comment on the music. The way they blend styles within the framework of hardrock is truly original, they mix in everything from jazz to trash metal, and they can play any style with ease. Their catalog contains more than 110 songs. Their latest album is way more heavy then the ones before it, and their latest EP is drifting into prog metal territory. Hey Justin and Camilla! First of all: Thanks for the content, I enjoy it a lot. Now, I'd like to suggest 'Onset' (Official Live Video), it's an instrumental piece and it's something they liked to play during rehearsals, just jamming, and turned it into a song. I like it a lot and I wonder if you'll like it too. And for another suggestion/request: for your next Jinjer reaction, can you pick something from their live show in Melbourne (JINJER - Alive In Melbourne - Official Full Concert | Napalm Records)? The mixing is excellent and it seems to me it's one of those nights where all the pieces fall into place (and all the songs have timestamps/'chapters', so easy to pick one). Misa, the bassist, is also know as the Barefoot Assassin. Two reasons: She murders the bass, & secondly, she refers to her maids dress as the 'Assassins Tunic'.

Like most Band-Maid songs, I like them from the get-go but really start to appreciate them after more hearings and seeing their LIVE videos. I'll go back and see an older song like YOLO, Order, Shake That, Freezer, Before Yesterday, Real Existence, Non Fiction Days and Alone, etc. and realize there's no band that can consistently construct and play like Band-Maid.

Hey kids I have seen Led Zeppelin live and most of the greats since and now I have VIP tickets For Band Maid in Phoenix and I am just as excited as I was back then. These young ladies are the real deal and have a different something but it is great whatever that is!

They were making faces at the drummer trying to throw her off. They never get her. The singer tried to get the drummer on her own in another video and the drummer made her laugh in the middle of a verse. Don't let the maid thing throw you. Their costumes may be a gimmick, but their talent is not.

Yeah, Band maid is tops and Misa kills it every time. If you want to hear bass slapping throughout the songs check out Gacharic Spin and their bassist F Chopper Koga. Their songs: MindSet, Redline, Tamashii ( two videos one with them playing toy instruments), Stay Gold. Everybody shines in the newest lineup. Different feel from BM -- wilder energy -- but like them and Lovebites, GS members definitely know what they're doing.

Band Maid Info Dump
Band Maid was started in 2013 by Miku Kobato. At the time she had just left the Idol Group, Lil Cumin and she didn't like the type of music she had been performing. She approached her management agency with the idea of making an actual band playing rock music but dressed as maids. She had worked in a Maid Cafe and thought the image of maids playing rockin music would create what she called "The Gap" between what you see and what you hear. The Management company was like Ok, go ahead.
Miku then looked around and found Kanami a singer/songwriter who was posting her own videos on the internet. Miku contacted her and Kanami thought the idea was cool and agreed to join. Miku then asked if Kanami knew a drummer who might be interested. Kanami had worked with Akane in the past and literally walked over to Akane's apartment and asked her. Akane was actually hesitant as she had worked in an "All Girl Group" before and didn't enjoy it as it wasn't the type of music she wanted to play. After hearing a Demo, Akane was like ok, but was still slightly hesitant because of the "Maid Outfits", but she agreed to give it a try. Akane was asked if she knew a bass player and she had gone to Tokyo School of Music with MISA and had worked a couple of jobs with her. So Misa was contacted and after she heard a demo she was like I like the music, but she also was hesitant about the "Maid Outfits", but she relented and joined in as she really wanted to play the kind of music she heard in the demo.
Now we have the "Core" members. I'm not too sure about the part but if I am wrong other Maidiacs will correct me in the comments. The 4 members worked out some songs and a setlist and from my understanding, they had actually performed 2 or 3 times with just Miku on main vocals. I may be wrong on that so don't take that as canon. Miku after those performances felt that her voice wasn't powerful enough to really perform the songs she wanted. So she approached her management company again and asked if they had any singers who weren't in other projects.
Saiki was signed to the same management company and had done some work as a backup singer and dancer and was asked if she would be interested in auditioning for this new group which currently had 4 members and she would be the fifth. (I'm not sure about this part as I can't find the comment I read over on Reddit) She had been a member of a group with 8 other people and HATED it. So she listened to the demo and thought "Cool" because she liked the music.
Now we come to the tricky part. Miku KNEW that if Saiki was told about the "Maid Outfits" she would say NO WAY!, so they didn't tell her. They told her they would have "Cool Clothes", and she never met Miku until a few days before they had a contracted performance. She wasn't told about the "Maid Outfits" until I believe it was 2 days before the performance, and she had considered backing out, but she had signed the contract.
So the Ladies, went and did the performance and Saiki really, REALLY liked the crowds reaction and the music they were performing. She DIDN'T like the apron she wore so it got ditched after the first performance.
And you now have the beginnings of the BEST LIVE HARD ROCK BAND in the WORLD!

Now that we have the Full band, it was felt that there needed to be a second guitar. Saiki was like, "Not Me, No Way." So Miku said, "I'll do it.", at first that was literally all she did, was hold the guitar and mime playing it, until Akane said, if you are going to hold it, you NEED to learn to play it. And Miku said, "Ok.", and Kanami started to teach Miku how to play. The Ladies released their first album in 2014 "Maid in Japan" which only charted to #26 in Japan.
Then in 2015 they released "New Beginning"
On New Beginning was the song that changed Band Maid's entire existence. "Thrill"...
The band was getting ready to release their first music video and the choice was between "Love, Passion, Matador" and "Thrill" and the ladies chose Thrill.
This became the seminal moment of Band Maid. Because their second album hadn't even charted, the record company was seriously considering disbanding the Ladies and switching them to other projects. (In fact they had Kanami and Akane work with Mochi to Cheese thinking that when Band Maid cratered they could use them in another band). However about 6 months after the video's release, a Facebook page "JRock Radio" posted the video to their timeline. And the video went viral. Having over a million views in just a few short weeks. The Ladies Twitter page got so many hits they thought their page had been hacked. Their TH-cam channel also started getting more and more subscribers and views to Thrill.
Now the ladies knew where their fans wanted them to go. Harder Rock, less pop. And history was Maid.
The following info is from a comment left by TH-cam user @DanW60
Thrill was from their album New Beginning which was released in November, 2015. They didn't write any of the songs or lyrics on the album and it was only 33 minutes. As mentioned, Miku didn't even know how to play guitar at the time. The album went nowhere in Japan and their small label called Gump was about to drop them. Gump's plan was to keep Miku and Saiki as a singing and dancing duo and let the rest go. Then a miracle happened. The music video for Thrill became a huge hit on TH-cam, especially in the west. Band-Maid was saved and they changed labels to Crown Stones (a sub-label to a really big Japanese media company called Nippon Crown). Their 2016 album, Brand New maid, peaked at #19 on the Japanese charts but only one song was written by Kanami and it was only 31 minutes in length. Finally, in January 2017, they released the album Just Bring It which was a full album at 50 minutes. More importantly, 9 of the 13 songs were written by Kanami. In my opinion, it was the first true Band-Maid album. The album got as high as #16 in Japan and also charted in the UK. The next 3 albums - World Domination, Conqueror and Unseen World - all charted top 10 in Japan and charted overseas. All the songs were written by Kanami. She is the one that has pushed Misa and Akane to be as good as they are now, and also very successfully taught Miku to play guitar.

I really like this band and another all female Japanese band Lovebites. I think they should drop the maid outfits though. That have an Acoustic set that was very good and they did not have the maid outfits. The official video from that is down now so you won't be able to find it. I paid to see the entire concert, which was only available for a few months.

Love watching your Jinjer videos as they are my favorite band. Right behind them are a pack of classic metal bands (Maiden etc) and loads of Japanese metal bands. Many of those J-Metal bands are all female or have female members. I highly suggest Nemophilia (2nd fav band), Maximym the Hormone, Unlucky Morpheus, Lovebites and of course more Band Maid.
The best rock band with the most songs. For something heavier but just as good try NEMOPHILA they will rock your world and they do a lot of covers so you can listen to one of the covers then react to one of their own songs. Try REVIVE.

Everybody loves it because they're dressed like maids maid over there is a waitress look at the singer dress beautiful black don't say anything bad about the girl metal bands from Japan they devoted their life to American music and better than the stuff we have over here don't just listen to one song and decide if you like them or not but don't say anything bad about them

Well, they gather in front of the drummer and make faces at her trying to get her to laugh and lose the beat...they have not succeeded yet because she's too good...lol Sometimes you'll catch her making faces back at them...
So they were rocking and shredding badass , singing bad ass. But the maid uniform made you ignore all that. Got it. Probably is the reason this band is not on a bigger stage. People gets to caught up with the visuals. Sad
