Hooray! Glad you gave it a try Jan. The process works very well and yes, you can re-use your solution several times.Probably best to keep the wooded handle out of the solution. I would suggest keeping the copper connections out of the solution to get better results. I would attach your anode to the side of the container with a plastic clamp making sure part of the anode is submerged, then attach the positive connection from the charger to the part of the anode sticking up above the solution. Suspend the item to be cleaned in the solution with a chain or strong bare wire, and then use a wooden dowel across the top of the container and wrap the chain or wire around it. Clamp the negative connection from the charger to this chain or wire above the solution and then watch the magic happen! Great video Jan!

I've never tried that, but I've watched it done. There's a channel that uses a 12 volt battery. Another channel would let it bake overnight. Thank you Jan.

Here in the U.S. we use Washing Soda (Sodium Carbonate). Be aware that the bubbles coming off the solution emit Hydrogen gas so do the process in a well ventilated area away from any ignition sources. That bolt turned out great.

Thanks Matt, I have Sodium Carbonate, thanks for the heads up on the hydrogen emission, that is very important

I didn't know salt would work, I use arm and hammer washing soda,, and like mat said, it would be best if the copper wire didn't make contact with the solution,, at least that's what I was told, I don't know the reason though. yes I have used that process several times. and it works very well.

    • @jankotze1959

Electrolysis for the win!!! The salt solution looked really nasty Jan. Are you going to try any of the other chemicals to make the solution? Thanks for sharing. Take care.
