I have survived pancreatic cancer, lots of very aggressive chemo,and the Whipple procedure that went along with it. After all of that, my new normal is not great. They tell me it’s way better than the alternative.😂👍🏻
The cars were amazing in a time when music had to be different to be noticed.. these guys were at the top of their genere .. the songs were fantastic and you could relate in their words.. we miss you Ric and Ben..
They were cool and crossed over the genres no matter what you listened to a majority of the time, I was a metal head but it was still cool to listen to these guys also, INXS was another band like that to. Still love popping in the cars greatest hits CD.

She gave him the best years of her life and he didn’t take care of her. I think that’s a really bad thing to do to the woman who loved you. If there’s kids involved you still take care of your wife. That’s just so cold. I’ll have to keep checking in on this and hope for a happy ending for her.

Saw Rick on Newbury Street in Boston coming out of their studio. He popped into a liquor store to buy whatever. I was taking my lunch from a construction job. I was wearing a patch over my eye. He looked over . That was 1985.
Very, very underrated band. Nobody and I mean nobody even remotely resembles the cars music. Their first album was an instant classic and to this very day is still relevant.

What I mean by underrated is the inability to recognize value, how relevant their sound still is today. Value in the very different styles and blends of sound the Cars brought to the stage. Todays music does not seem to have the same value that the Cars had and for people to miss out on such a gift of music would be due to many people not finding their value. He was relatively old at age of 32 when he finally made it big with Cars excellent debut album. This was after spending his 20s in the music business with his partner Benjamin Orr. The two shifted their style toward what would become New Wave rock sound, and everything clicked.
Cudos to Ric for his musical talents. I still listen to the Cars and I'm pushing 70 years! However he robbed Paulina out of her estate when he completely cut her Out of his will. He totally betrayed her in the end. Sad. Shows his true colors to me anyway.😢

What else can be said about The Cars? Their catalog of hits, and deep cuts are spectacular,like no other band sounds like them! You can easily tell one of their songs in the first notes, or Rik’s songs? As he wrote pretty much all the songs,sometimes with Greg Hawkes, but their music left an indelible mark still felt today! They conquered everything a band could,finally entering The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2018, the final time they’d play together, as Rik passed away the following year 💔😥 and with Ben’s death in 2000, the band is sadly done, but their legacy looms large, The Cars one of the all time greats❤️🎸😎👍

Caught a Cars cover band, led by Greg Hawkes, original Cars keyboardist. The band is Eddie Japan. One 2024 tour date so far in Maryland. I suggest catching them if you can. They put on a great show and sound very close to the real deal.

I have memories of roller skating as a kid in the late 70s to The Cars, what a time it was. The song "Lets Go" stands out to me.
