Myles's voice and technique are smashing. The long, powerful lines that he's able to seemingly easily navigate while singing up in the rafters of difficult, high pitches prove that he's a well-seasoned yet still fresh vocalist.

This is legitimately one of the best songs I've ever listened to in my life. Alter Bridge absolutely kicks ass with this insane music! There's this, Silver Tongue, Last Rites, Metalingus, The Other Side, Sin After Sin, Stay, and This is War. Those are only a few of the phenomenal songs this band has made. Y'all must have been fans of the Last Hero album. Cheesy lyrics sang in a boring way IMO. Last album was far more creative. Riffage is tasty though.

My Dad passed away from a very aggressive brain cancer in June this year - sadly he was in his early 50s, and only lived a year after his diagnosis... But... he would have only lived a few weeks if it weren't for a cutting edge non-invasive laser surgery. Let me just say that having him for a whole year was very special indeed. He was able to be there for the birth of my first son, and we spent more time together than we have in a while. After his passing, almost suddenly, I found Alter Bridge... I wondered how on earth had I never knew about them before. I blew through all their albums in 2 months and now listen to them daily, as well as Tremonti. They've not only become my most respected and loved group, but they got me through a really really hard time. And my Dad would have absolutely loved them. This is the type of music we would ride around blasting on the road, eating burgers, and talking about life. I even had a dream recently where Dad was back from the grave, death defeated, and we were going to sit in 2 armchairs to catch up, and I couldn't wait to show him Alter Bridge. Then I woke up. Although it was just a dream, I can't help but believe deep down that I might have this opportunity someday.. I thank God for the time I had with my Dad, and I thank God for you Alter Bridge. I thought I knew all the great rock bands out there.. and then poof. I feel almost as if God somehow waited for a time as this so that I could find you when I needed you. Life is unexplainable, but that sure is the beauty of it.

Thank you. I always thought that the two best Alter Bridge albums were their first and Fortress. And when I heard this, it reminded me of Fortress; or at least a song that could have been included on Fortress. Their last two albums were throwaways. I was about to give up on them. This song gives me hope. We'll see. Their second and third albums were okay, but Fortress was such a leap forward. My hypothesis is that Mark's solo albums took away from Alter Bridge. His solo albums were excellent, by the way. But add in the Alter Bridge mixing, and I believe that AB's past two albums could have been legendary.
Addendum: This song is over 6 minutes. It felt like it was only a couple minutes. That's when you know it is a good/great song.

I love it so much when they play with the song structure like this. So many songs are just Verse-Chorus-Verse-Chorus-Bridge-Chorus-Chorus but this one adds a bit of variety to their otherwise incredible song-writing. So stoked for this new album!

Been a diehard fan since the first record. Love Elvis but haven’t loved the mixing work on Last Hero and Walk the Sky. This sounds MUCH better! Myles voice is crystal clear, punchy guitars and the drums sound as good as they’ve sounded since Fortress.
Also love the choice to just go with an epic 6+ minute track as the first single. Very much looking forward to this record!

Sounds AMAZING, grandiose af and the heavy riffage has my heart pumping so hard. I love the protest sentiment of the song too. Myles somehow sounds better than ever?! I love the use of both high and lower register here. If the rest of the album is half as good as this then it could rival Fortress. Can't wait to see you guys in London!
Whenever I have not listened to AB for a while or if I've had a spell of listening to other music, but then return to these guys, it's like a warm blanket is wrapped around me and it feels comfortable. The quality of their music is outstanding and familiar. Great Band who I followed from their beginning.

After nearly two decades of evolution-all of it good-this song feels like Alter Bridge has arrived. It's the coalescence of solo projects and sound. Most notable, in my opinion, is the drums-maybe the best I've heard from AB! Love the direction and can't wait for the full album!
If they didn't arrive on Fortress then they never will. Cry of Achilles still blows my mind even now.

@@mickporter84 fair point-Fortress is an incredible album from start to finish (the title track is my personal favorite from that album). At the same time, I think both Myles and Mark have grown so much as musicians in their solo endeavors since then. I'm anticipating Pawns and Kings will have a lot of that evolution in it‚ and I can't wait! Already, I can definitely hear Myles' guitar influence in this latest release-it's got an Ides of March vibe to it at times.
Agreed, the rhythm section def took an upswing on this album. This does sound like a true mix of all influences and projects. You can hear bits of MK with slash, and so on.
OH MY GOD! This is absolutely AMAZING. Just when you think Alter Bridge couldn’t get much better, they release this banger. If the other 9 tracks are as good as this, the new album will be epic.

Definitely grows on you every listen. Sounds great! The vocal bridge in the middle is almost an exact rip off from a vocal section in the middle of their Cradle to the Grave song I noticed though…. Sounds fantastic- but wonder why they went there?
Btw - TLH gets alot of flak; but its a killer album that really grew on me after repeated listens👍. The songs are so epic. I hope for similar here with maybe better production value?…

I like the Fortress-like song structure of this song... not the 3 minute songs they released on Walk the Sky. Walk the sky sounded like a bunch of guys made an album on dropbox... which is what it was basically. I have high hopes for this album, just preordered the autographed record. Now for this song, I was waiting for the killer "blackbird" type guitar solo and some soaring highs from Myles, yet it didn't happen. Hopefully it will grow on me
