I use Zig on my Scan N Cut mats. I use a wide wall paper blade to make a thin, even, wide layer and to spred it around. Be careful not to go outside the black band. I also let it set for about 20 minutes before putting the plastic back on. Note: if you are using your mat for fabric you can use it without problems. If you use your mat for paper crafting you will want to reduce the stickiness by patting with a t-shirt because paper will not come off (ask me how I know). I use fabric with heat and bond on it and have never had any issues. The thinner and more even you can make the layer the better.
I’ve done the Zig process numerous times with the same mats over the years. It does work. You should clean the mat of debris prior to using the Zig. You do want it to dry completely before using it. It should be overnight for a complete dry. Do not put the plastic cover on it while drying.
The acrylic etch might look even cooler if you smeared some kind of ink or paint over it then wiped it off, so the name itself appears in a different color. Also I could be wrong but I think I remember seeing a feature in the settings where you can control how many passes it takes to complete your job. I don’t understand why your second pass was misaligned but I think the crunching sound was the machine being overpowered and moving the material somewhat, or at least doing something to screw with the calibration. So maybe if you had more passes with less pressure it might work better
When I work in the office, I used Avery all the time to make work envelopes and mailing labels for customers. I have thought about doing for personal use. Great ideas tonight.
#1, never let anyone borrow your tools #2, if you do tell them upfront that if they mess it up they replace it with a new one, immediately. A good policy to start do not lend things out unless you’re willing to replacing it yourself and lose a friend in the process.., #3, read the directions on the bottle to know if you’re using it right!
I bought totally awesome per your recommendations to bring out the sticky in my mat. It didn't help. Another YT vid advised Aleenes spray tacky glue to spray on the card stock. Let it air dry a while before sticking to mat. I have not tried yet.
Love your tutorials. Thanks for explaining the process so well and easy to follow.

Oh I love the Avery tip!
Both tips are great! Avery really makes it simple to design labels...Thanks Courtney
I use the zig glue and it has renewed my glittered mats wonderfully
Love your videos, you bring so much energy to each project. ❤
Thanks, Courtney. Looking forward to seeing you in Houston. I plan on spending a lot of time in the AllBrands booth!
I use all the time. But I did ruin one matt because I put the zap on the black lines. So don't put on the edges

It does work well. But you might want to tape your registration lines. Becky Thompson has used it as well.
The blue zig is what I'm referring 2
Loved the label hack. Thanks for sharing.
Love the sticker hack. And engraving. Thanks
Love your show! I am going to try the Zig Glue. Where do you get it? Do you carry the Zig glue on you website.
Loved the stickers hack. I counted it as 2 x 1 since I never thought about checking Avery’s website. ❤

Have fun in Houston Courtney!
Can you use your scanncut to cut bias binding? Can you do an episode on how to do this. Thanks
Microsoft Publisher will do this too.
Can you direct me to a video on scanning and cutting just the outline on the stickers?
Hi allbrands
Does using the black cutting blade to etch on acrylic dull the blade??
I would like to know this too.. same for balsa wood. I dont dare to use it yet 🫣
Totally Awesome totally removed the stick on my mats😟. Was really disappointed!
Same thing happened to me! I was very upset!

Don’t use awesome on the mat after you applied zig. I hear you get a total sticky mess.
No one has done this yet
