    Wow dude! What an awesome unboxing. I am floored! Thanks so much!
    I think While mentioned it, but the lack of bases was indeed a mispack. I packed a dozen or so that way, but went back and fixed it now.
    And you were right on about the black and white cards. When I started making the game doing black and white was faster and had a classic feel. But after I upgraded to a Cintiq wacom display coloring got a lot easier, so I jumped into full color. I love the full color cards, so second printing of the first edition cards will go color in the future.

    It’s a super fun game, all d6s, quick rounds, quick games, brutal all around. Also the price point is amazing by comparison to other small scale skirmish games.
    Glad Sean reached out to you to review it.
    He did the Artwork, the Rules, the sculpts... he’s a true inspiration to the hobby.
    The other day he randomly sculpted a giant hornet for the Ranger of Shadow Deep group and put the STL out for free.
    All around great guy, interacts with the community on the FB page all the time and answers questions.

    Oh man! Relicblade is my all time favorite game! The art style sold me on it, and the game really keeps you going!
    I love how everyone referes to Metal King Studio as they: it's a one-man show, Sean Sutter. Really good dude! He draws, sculpts, makes the rules, packs and ships it all!
    I'm excited for Adepticon, going for the first time this year. And will be hosting a Relicblade tournament on Saturday, open for beginners. Will have warbands players can borrow!
    I'm While and I like Relicblade.

    • @BlackMagicCraftOfficial
      @BlackMagicCraftOfficial  5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      It blows my mind what he's been able to accomplish on his own. As for the bases, it was no big deal, I have 100s of those types of bases and just grabbed some of those.

    I really like how the knight guy is holding the two handed sword. The pose with the sword on his shoulder seems realistic. It seems like there is real weight in the weapon.

    Billman is named after the weapon he is holding, a bill hook. (Which tbh is a bit of an odd medieval relic) but it's nice to not only see one on a sculpt but also see it named as such :)

    Holy bejeebus- you're reviewing relicblade! I jumped on their kickstarter when it first came out, and it was a blast. Love the game, and I love the minis. Good lord that art got amazing though- it was all black and white when it first launched. Apparently some of the older sets still hold the black and white cards.
    The factions themselves are a little misleading. You get all the characters from a faction in a box; but factions within relicblade are the Path of the Advocate (good guys) and Path of the Adversary (bad guys). You pick one of the two when building your warband, and you can take any models in your warband within your Path. It just so happens that factions have abilities that stack well with each other.
    Fun fact: the Wretched Hive/Lizardfolk were inspired by a character from the first kickstarter in a donation tier. A dude got to get his character in the game as a card (no model) at a certain level, and doing the card art inspired Sean to make a model for said character and the entire wretched hive.
    Fun fact 2: Relicblade was all a one man show. Sean Sutter did everything for it. Art, book, game design, minis, etc. It was all his work.

  • @EnigmaofGR
    @EnigmaofGR 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    So if I remember right, the billman, saber tooth and possibly the basilisk all cost closer to the smaller pigs; in the case of the prior, they are companions (so pets and lesser allies), not sure whether the basilisk has it. While they are characters, they have slightly different rules when it comes to the heroes as they tend to die a little easier, and may have less natural abilities and equipment/upgrade slots. The pigs on the other hand cost less so you can field a lot more (in reason), while the Warlord is a villain/hero like the majority of the Wretched Hive, The Warrior, Ranger, Knight, Thief, and Cleric.

    COHESIVE! A Big word my man. Worth mentioning nimble reader that Relicblade is made entirely by 1 talented guy. One dude, did all that. And let me tell you, the miniatures are quality ! But the game is amazing. You may be in the midst of learning two other games, but i urge you my man, read the rulebook. Relicblade is really straight forward and easy to learn. Though it may be a boutique game, it is incredibly approachable and would serve as an amazing introduction into the world of miniature wargaming. (actually, better than Frostgrave would to be honest!)
    But. I'm really biased. I love relicblade so damn much it's crazy.

      @@theophrastusbombastus1359 haha, I can't argue with that! My thoughts expanded: thematically, i suppose "a cohesive feel" is a unique aspect that the interaction with Relicblade and the products has, that others games don't.

    Heck yes!!! Subbed!
    Relicblade is hands down my favorite game. The models are so much fun to paint and the style encourages you to try new things while painting them. The rules are simple and intuitive. The upgrade system adds some nice depth. Gameplay is fast and action packed. The whole game facilitates the hobby as a whole encouraging people to get into painting and building their terrain as well as making scenarios to fit the campaign.
    I love everything about this game.

    Regarding compatibility with other brands of minis (for use in, say, D&D) how does the scale compare with Reaper or the Deep Cuts figures? You say they're 28 mm so does that mean they'll be a little small standing next those others?

    • @BlackMagicCraftOfficial

      I sculpt the minis at 30mm. They blend pretty well with most other fantasy figures, but there isn't much consistency even among other ranges. So it depends on the figure. They look good next to most reaper minis. Deep cuts tend to be on the petite side compared to RB figures.

    Can you by multiple sets of the same faction, and get different minis and cards?

      I think they are always the same, not randomized. But I did forget to mention there are more factions available than these 4.

      It's the same minis and cards, but you can field several of the same type of character. And the Lone Guard Warrior and Ranger have arma that can be swapped around!

      Also to mention is that there are extra characters not in the faction sets such as vermin mouth, eel sorcerer, shark warrior and more! Give those a look as well!

    Great review, but it’s a bit „unfair“ to claim that cheaper minis are typically cheap, plastic Chinese minis. For example in the market of historical minis or historical-adjacent (like for example copplestone miniatures) you can find miniatures in metal, with lots of detail that are a lot cheaper. In comparison to GW, and I guess that’s the people this is aimed at, sure... they are cheap-ish. But nearly 9$ per mini is not a joke (even if they have nice packaging and they are nice minis).

    why must a person always mention that they did not get paid for something. . why does it even matter. I would be great-full to get paid to review a product. . . and I think a person should get paid to review a product . well done. . thanks for the content.

      It REALLY matters to some people. It's important that to me that I am transparent. Sometimes I will make a video about something for a company for a fee, and I like to distinguish those types of videos for my viewers.....even though being paid or not doesn't affect what I say about a product, sometimes I simply require a fee to spend time producing a video that I don't otherwise have interest in doing. That being said I am moving away from doing that and preferring to simply review the companies and products that I feel deserve the promotion and that I want to talk about.

      If he is getting paid that means he maybe on some level more inclined to give a positive review. This can especially be bad if they choose to hide the fact that they were paid to review this item. People want to know if they're watching a review versus when they're watching a commercial.

    • @BlackMagicCraftOfficial
      @BlackMagicCraftOfficial  5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      For the record I will never, and have never, given a positive review because it was a paid promotion. I have a strict policy on that. The fee covers the time to produce the video, that's it, it does not buy a good review. Whenever I am speaking to a company about a paid promotion I let them know this. Usually I prescreen products to make sure they are likely good before even being willing to look at them, but I have absolutely said negative things about products I have been paid to show in a video. In the rare case that something is utterly terrible and there is nothing nice to say, my plan has always been to simply cancel the agreement and give the payment back and proceed with very negative review if it's something I want to warn my viewers about. I have not been put in this situation yet though, as I said, I prescreen products and you can usually tell if something is awful before even getting it.

      PS....some TH-camrs ARE super slimy about this, and it gives all of us a bad rap which is why I try very hard to be as clear and transparent in every case as I possibly can be (even if it's a little annoying to have to hear).
