    This is genius, thank you! I thought I was being smart mapping Ableton Live to an external USB keypad, but this takes it to a whole new level! Simply off the scale of ingenuity, the fact you can then customise the colours etc in Components, I mean wow, this is just perfect! And to think my next step was to map a fully QWERTY keyboard to Ableton, not any more after seeing this! I've ordered a LP Mini Mk3 on the back of seeing it. Absolutely well done, genius idea, works wonderfully and looks stunning too! THANK YOU FOR SHARING!

    Hi,
    I just bought a Launchpad X. I set up a template to control Reaper's action. Pads are setting up to send CC. When I want to assign an action to a pad, it doesn’t work!
    What Control/OSC surface you use (reaper preference menu)
    Thanks in advance for your help

    this is what I've been looking at to do, get the right controllers for reaper without buy $10000 worth of plastic sliders and knobs. fast, easy, reliable...smooth and not cluttered or overwhelming. thank you, great video.

    Its cool to see all the fancy things you can do with automation. But as long as you do not tell the audience HOW you set this up the video is not of much help. The main question on this topic is a) how dou you setup the LaunchPad and b) what do you need to do in Reaper to make this work.- This would help people!

      If you don’t know how to set up a MIDI controller in Reaper, you should watch a video on that, then come back to this and it will make sense.

      Once the Launchpad is set up as a MIDI controller, you can choose/create actions from the action list and assign them to the Launchpad by adding a new shortcut for the action (bottom left corner of the action list window) and just pressing the button on the Launchpad you want it to be.
      For more advanced stuff might need ReaScript.

    I'd rather input notes and CC's and VST parameters with a controller, can this device do that all as well in Reaper?

    Can you tell me what Custom action do you use for 'insert new track with analog lab'?
    I want to create tracks with my own inserts fx

    • @PodPeak
      @PodPeak  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      First of all, you have to have SWS extensions installed. Save a track template using the setup you want with Analog Lab, then create a custom action that assigns the track template to Xenakios/SWS: [depracated] Load track template 01 (there's 10 slots available). Then assign that custom action to a button on your Launchpad. If you're not following thereaperblog on youtube, you should. Jon has a lot of great tips throughout his channel.

    I got the button mapping to work just fine in Reaper, but I'm having trouble getting the lights to be lit, or do any color customization outside of Ableton. I'm trying this with a mini mk2, which apparently won't connect to components. Maybe doing this is only possible with the launchpad mini mk3 because you can customize it in components? Thanks for this video, I just ordered a mk3 so perhaps I can get it to work like yours.

    Love the idea I've been toying with it myself, the only piece I haven't figured out is how do I tie action to the pads? it still acts like a midi controller playing notes and my other controllers will kick off custom actions while playing the keyboard. . .
    How did you work around that?

    • @PodPeak
      @PodPeak  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You have to use the "Components" software app that comes with the MKII. There you can go under 'Widgets' and program from there. I used the 'Program Change' widget on each of the buttons (assigning them 1-64).

      You need the SWS extensions. Custom action In this order: Item: Select all items in track, Time selection: Set time selection to items, Track: Render selected area of tracks to stereo post-fader stem tracks (and mute originals), Track: Select volume envelope, Envelope: Select all points, Envelope: Delete all selected points, Envelope: Hide all envelopes for tracks, Xenakios/SWS: Select next tracks, Xenakios/SWS: Bypass FX of selected tracks, Track: Unarm all tracks for recording, SWS: Hide selected track(s), Time selection: Remove time selection

    Hi Pod Peak - I love your ideas for how to use the Launchpad with Reaper. How do you customize the actual colors of the Launchpad to be what you want? and are there uses for the buttons on the top and right for Reaper? The arrow keys and the Custom Keys (Drums, Keys, User, Session).

    • @PodPeak

    Hi, great video, but its a bit advanced to start with. I've been producing on Reaper for a few years and just got my first LaunchPad Mini. I still don't know how to hook it up as a midi device with reaper or just the basics of starting out (e.g. assigning tracks, loops or instruments). Basically, learning customization is not where I need to start as I have no custom buttons yet. Is there a precursor video before customizing pads? I know launchpad is tailored to Ableton, but if still saving up for that. Thanks!
