    I'm wondering if this would work... would I be able to construct a song with a bunch of short tracks, but make macros to start playing a track and only starting the next track once the first track is finished playing, essentially on beat. also looping tracks as well, as well as recording a track live on beat as we.. essentially would I be able to do a gig in reaper the way that I would in live, (Live is so pricey)

    It's funny that music technology is the only tech that people are convinced peaked in the '60s. Phones, computers, airplanes, televisions, they have all continued to progress, but guitars, mics, mixing equipment... All apparently, stalled out in the 1960s. Weird.

    • @ronnysrecords
      @ronnysrecords 19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      to be fair, music did move forward but it's in the electronic music scene... using acoustic instruments themselves is not a move forward in technology. But then modern mixing has a lot of sound replacements like drums. Or synths thrown in..

    As for the Solo - there's a native feature Exclusive solo - and btw a bunch of similar features - right click the Solo button on track control and you will see them. The shortcut for the exclusive solo is Cmd+Opt+ Left click on solo button (Alt+Ctrl). Generally it's a good idea to right click EVERYTHING in Reaper. Zoom is also a native function now - Cmd+Opt+Right drag. It's good to combine it with Return to previous zoom level action. Thanks for the video!

    I assume SoniMus is American.. plugins that look like the hardware instead of embracing their digital nature and use all possibilities a digital interface offers as a European always puzzled me... but I understand this is the American way of selling them and the UAD ones 4 ex. (their tape and channel strips in particular) sound terrific so hey. This is 149 dollars.. the UAD strips are around 200 - right now they are on sale at like 80 bucks! - so the point is, is this better than the UAD ones?

    • @PodPeak
      @PodPeak 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      All I can say is that I'm a big fan of Sonimus plugins. Like I said, they keep it simple and just focus on analog console emulations, eq's and compressors. I also own UAD plugins (and they are great). Really just comes down to what works for you but I would certainly recommend Sonimus. Smaller company that focuses on quality.

    • @G_handle
      @G_handle 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Interesting that you associate the Analog Emulation vs Proudly Digital divide as an American vs European thing. From the Analog era until today we Americans always covet British Consoles EQs etc. (Neve, SSL including the Satson emulation here)

    Neat. I have two sets of fade-in/out shortcuts, one one for linear and one for -3dB power fades. My keyboard is set to high repeat rate and the lowest possible wait time until the high repeat kicks in. That way I can just hold the key and move the mouse to adjust the fade starts. I use this all the time in dialogue editing. It's always fun to improve your workflow. Thanks for the tips. The marquee zoom was of particular interest to me.

    Well done and useful video. I am currently not a Reaper user. I have a multi UA Apollo set up and switched over to their LUNA daw from PT a few years ago. I REALLY like it a lot BUT, it's restrictive for routing and really no good way use hardware inserts. I track with all analog frontend and then mix ITB (my tracking room is decoupled from my mix room, so, separate setups) However, I recently got a nice Stam Audio bus comp and I'm looking to add a few more pieces to mix with as well. Reaper looks to be an amazing option for this so I think I'm going to take the plunge, install Reaper, deal with the learning curve try mixing with it. Thanks.

    Ok so after many frustrating hours of trying to get a decent signal through send and returns from HW to Interface through ADAT, Ive come to the conclusion that this is basically not going to work. Also, in this day and age with advances in plug in quality and fidelity I just can't see a reason to use inferior external 30 year old hardware. I think Reainsert is a failed attempt at routing sends and returns between hardware devices. Yes I did follow the steps in this video and it simply does not work. I'm unplugging and shelving my old (lousy sounding hardware devices) and boxing them up. Sorry I wasted so much time on it .I guess its 2 days I'll never get back ....

    Can I bind the "clear all mutes and/or solos" to a keyboard shortcut? Can't find it in the mouse modifiers list (which I believe is a very messy menu. I wish it had a filter and a "find action" button at least)

    • @PodPeak
      @PodPeak 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You'll need to create a custom action. Try this: Track: Select all tracks, Track: Unsolo all tracks, Track: Unmute all tracks, Unselect (clear selection of) all tracks/items/envelope points Once you've created that custom action you can assign a keyboard shortcut. Hope this helps. 👍
