    I have the 14 plus it’s been great, to pay $200 more for a heavier phone, a gimmick of a dynamic island and a extra camera an 120 hz, is just not worth it. The normal consumer doesn’t tell the difference between the two and when they do it’s because reviewers have mentioned it so much that consumers are trying hard to tell the difference. The plus is just as good for the average consumer

    • @erikwestre7970

      Agreed. But if there is a issue with the call quality, then that could be a dealbreaker. I won't miss Pro Motion, AOD, or the Dynamic Island. Maybe I'll miss the extra camera a little in certain scenarios, but not in my daily life.

    I recently upgraded from iPhone 12 to iPhone 14 plus and I've loved it so far. The humungous battery has been the highlight for me. The call quality has been very good for me. The display is big and beautiful. Would I have loved a 120 Hz screen? Oh yes, absolutely. Do I miss not having it? Not at all. The performance has been rock solid so far! I've not tested the camera much but from what I can see it's a good camera for day-to-day usage. I was on the fence between 14 PM and 14 plus and the price difference here in India is close to 50,000 INR ( 600 USD) which to me wasn't justifiable at all. But as you rightly said, Apple needs to up the game. On the Android side of the world, the competition is heating up! Pixel 7 Pro is slightly cheaper than iPhone 14 Plus in India

    I have the 14 plus and I’ve been hating the fact I didn’t get the pro Max. The reason I didnt get the pro max is because I hated the colors they had. I was upgrading from a 12 pro max and when I tried the 14 pro max at the Apple Store I saw no difference between that phone and my 12 pro max. Yes they have that floating island but I really didn’t care about it that much because you can’t do much with it. So I went with the 14 plus because it was cheaper, while maintaining the same size as the pro max. And I got better choice of colors. I got the red iphone. So far I have loved my new phone. I have had no issues and saw such an improvement from my old phone. But then lately all these reviews came out (all from 14 pro max owners) about how dumb the 14 plus is and how you’re an idiot if you bought one. While they defended the iphone mini and said it shouldn’t have been replaced. If I recall correctly, they said the same thing about the mini when it came out and how dumb it was. Anyways, I can’t return the phone now and I realized why do I care what these people on TH-cam and the New York Times think about my iphone? If I love it, who cares?

    • @ILoveCheesedog
      @ILoveCheesedog ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Actually everyone is just shitting on the 14plus because they’re not doing their actual research about it, everything was changed from the inside of the phone to add a metal so it could do better when it came to thermals and not damage the battery, it has the same amount of ram as the pro max and is almost the same speed with the pro max when it comes to cpu, and the brightness goes up rlly high. Not to mention that they also upgrade the cameras also with a bigger aperture, there’s not that much diff when it comes to camera only the other features such as more zoom and macro. I think the 14 plus is great for people who just wanna upgrade but have a bigger screen and want a lighter phone. Have a great day

    I never consider non Pro models for myself, but I'm really wondering in what way the Plus feels better in the hand than the Pro. Coming from OnePlus 7 Pro, the first time I held my 14 Pro Max, I felt that it was going to much heavier than expected. Maybe with a sophisticated cover on it would start to be actually heavy, but I'm using regular silicon covers and I totally like how it feels.

    • @AlexGTech
      @AlexGTech  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi George, the Plus feels A LOT better than the Pro, so if ergonomics is a priority for you, this is actually decent. But the trade off is the cameras and display. If you don't care about those, then this could be a good choice

    • @erikwestre7970
      @erikwestre7970 ปีที่แล้ว

      The 14 plus feels better in the hand, without covers. If you add a cover, then it's just a weight issue. Without covers, it's something about the surface. You get a better grip. Personally I don't use covers, unless I'm in situations where I need one.

    Actually in performance testing the 14 gets higher scores than the 13Pro so it definitely has the previous years CPU. It also has autofocus on the selfie, which even the 13 pro didn’t have. Tbh, the pro and pro max phones are great for content creators and photographers but all the extra bells/whistles are unnecessary for average day to day users. Whenever I upgrade my phone, I always choose the base model but I decided to upgrade to the 14 pro from the 12 mini to see what the hype is about. I have to admit the camera quality is amazing but I can’t really tell the difference in any other aspect. I’m not a content creator just wanted to try something new and I can honestly say I’ll probably never use all the extra features this phone has to offer 😅 I most likely won’t be upgrading again for another 3+ years cuz this phone was EXPENSIVE.

  • @Riverrattie87
    @Riverrattie87 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I have the privilege of having a work and personal phone and happen to have the 14 plus and 14 pro max as a daily usage comparison. These are my observations:-
    1. The call quality difference is consistent. it’s really odd, but the person on the other side of the line could tell if I am using the 14 plus or 14 Pro Max via the call quality, so there must be some variable in the hardware that affects this!
    2. 60hz and 120hz is a really big difference! Animations are just smoother on the 120hz and way better to look at for long hours. THAT being said, I acknowledge that unless you have it side by side or have used a 120hz display before, you probably won’t notice the difference. As the saying goes, your benchmark is only as good as what you have experienced, and you are not affected by what you have not.
    3. Dynamic island is not exactly a gimmick. Tbh, at first I had the same thought, that dynamic island is just a value add feature that they add on for the sake of it. However, using it in real life, the application and use case for dynamic island really is amazing for one specific aspect, app switching! I can’t tell you how many times I have told myself, thank god that I am able to run 3 apps and easily switch to the apps that I want to control by just tapping on the dynamic island icons, vs having to bring up the multitask bar on the 14 plus. Also being in situations where I do pomodoro work sessions, it is really nice to be able to see the exact timer on the dynamic island while navigating the phone, without needing to go into the timer app! Driving is the other situation where i found myself being thankful for dynamic island, as I am able to quickly switch between my maps navigation to other apps for a quick glance by just tapping on the dynamic island icon without taking my eye off the road. So admittedly, dynamic island is not for everyone, but I think at the right situation or right use case, it is a powerful yet simple approach to multitasking while of coz making the graphics look cool.
    4. Weight differences. This I really need to hand it to 14 plus, coz the weight of the 14 plus is so light and easy to carry around compared to the iPhone Pro Max. Even with a case on, the 14 plus is feather light compared to a raw 14 pro max. At least I can put the 14 plus in my suit pocket without one side of the suit sagging!
    It’s a long one but hopefully it helps. Of coz these opinions are just my own and my use case, its different for everyone. And last but not least, really awesome content and you have earned yourself a new subscriber :)

    • @Riverrattie87
      @Riverrattie87 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@clarac7481 Tbh, if you are shooting at bright to normal conditions and your are just viewing through your phone / social media, you probably won’t be able to tell the difference. I think the biggest differences you will find is when taking night shots, where the additional aperture of the 14 pro max probably helps a tonne since my photos at night turn out better on the 14 pro max than the 14 plus. Also if you are someone who likes taking macro shots like portrait mode type of shots, then the lack of telephoto lens on the 14 plus is gonna be a bummer. Ah one last thing, of coz 14 pro max has 48mp and longer optical zoom so if you intend to zoom in on your shots often, then ya, 14 pro max is the way.
      Ultimately though i think the biggest difference will lie in the video taking capability. 14 Pro Max just takes way better video quality shots than 14 plus through its combination of lenses and hardware capabilities. No contest there.
      All things considered though, 14 plus is good enough if you are just taking regular shots for personal and occasional social media consumption. Sorry again, I tend to be longwinded LOLL

    So people who has money would buy the 14 Pro / Pro Max, leaving 14 and 14 Plus in the dust.

    About the 60 vs 120 hz dispaly - I feel like the normal iPhone's without 120hz have become a lot more laggy when it comes to their ui, after ios 15 came out (so about the same time they started using 120hz in the Pro models)
    I noticed it on my old iPhone 12, wich I used for a little while when I got it in early 2021, but didn't use it agin until the start of this year, then updated to ios 15. And, it seemed a lot more laggy when it came to the ui/animations, compared to the last time I'd used it (I was switching back to the 12, after using a Samsung for almost a year, so I didn't switch from a Pro to regulare iPhone) I've also notice the same thing on my 13 Mini..
    Sure, there's a difference when I'm switching from an older Samsung/Android with a 60hz display, to a newer with 120hz. But I feel like there's a much more noticable difference when it comes to the iPhone (I currently own a 13 Pro Max, as well as the 13 Mini) I don't know, but it almost feels like Apple made their 60hz models (running ios 15 and newer) extra laggy, after releasing their first Pro model using 120hz..

    Some people travel and depend on their phone more for entertainment on flights, trains, waiting around etc. Plus when you connect to different networks worldwide, the battery's performance is no longer predictable and can drain quickly. Those types of people need strong battery life and just lasting a day with casual use won't cut it.

I am a heavy user and i always play games especially heavy games like genshin impact and call of duty mobile and this phone lasted 6 hours in one charge and for daily web browsing, social media and watching youtube it lasted 11 hours ❤. Got a friend who had the 14 pro max he returned a few days later and bought this one due to it having better battery life the the pro max but also weighs less, the pro max with a solid case weighs 330grams which is a brick. Here in the philippines the phone is now at 799 dollars and it was worth it. I don’t really care about the features from the Pro models and the gimmick dynamic island and apple’s 60ghz screen has almost no difference to 120ghz it’s so smooth it’s unnoticeable.

      Thank you Steve!! I tried to see beyond the hype here, there's some nice things about the phone but I honestly think there are decent alternatives for this price... Are you considering picking one of these up?

    iPhones get always on display, and all the batteries issues start showing up. Imagine when it gets all the android features, it will be a buggiest mess. That's why they take their time. Makes me appreciate android more

      Apple should have just done AOD like everyone else. They tried too hard to be "different". It backfired.

    We're thinking of switching from android to the iPhone 14 Plus or Pro Max. If we hate it we'd trade it in for Samsung S23 series that comes out in a few months. The Pro Max sounds overwhelming. Our friend has the 13 Pro Max and it's the heaviest device I've ever held. Anyone know about resale values for this phone and Pro Max?

      My 13 Pro Max (256GB) just sold this week for £850 on eBay. The 13 Pro might be a good “in between” device. Wouldn’t recommend the 14 unless you’re after specific new features

      Before switching to ios, there are videos on youtube comparing android to ios. There are a lot of things ios can't do compared to android. The iphones aren't all that and that is from personal experience. I've always used android and never had a problem and the phone did what I needed without much trouble. I recently got an iphone 14 standard (1st iphone ever) and it's been the hardest phone I've ever had trying to set it up the way I want it. I can't stop it from playing music every single time I start the car because there is no setting for it. Apple assumes everyone wants to hear music every time you get into your vehicle. I wish I had gotten another android, it's just better in all aspects.

    another great review! i love this channel's vibe 😄
    i don't know if you take video suggestions, but i would love a video with tips with how to manage having android and apple devices, like how to integrate then better, since you mentioned you mix those devices 6:30

      Do you know, I really like that phone. I wrote an article about it when it came out, such a shame they left the smartphones world. Will see if I can find one, might be fun!

    I am thinking of getting either a 13 pro max or iphone 14 plus. I am into photography and videos. I visited 2 apple stores and both guys told me different opinions so I decided to visit TH-cam. Am a bit confused, also i don't have a budget. Thanks for the review

      I’d suggest the 14 plus
      i owned both the 13 promax and the 14 plus and i like the 14 more because of the new photonic engine , better dynamic range on video , 4k cinematic , a way better video stabilisation even the battery doesn’t drop that much while playing around with the camera . The only advantage of the 13 pro max is the 3x telephoto
      And if u care about the display for my own experience there’s no need for a 120hz display on a phone its just a gimick thay everyone is following

    No but for real, tech reviewers is a great job but people just want to be flown out to Cupertino instead of having integrity and honesty in their “reviewers”-more like a informercial for the companies screwing us over.

      haha thanks Joe. I am sure Apple will never invite me 🤣 But it's true, don't often see people call out issues when Apple are giving them stuff for free

    Even if the iPhone 14 models had a minimum 90hz panel, I wouldn't question the price, but come on apple. 60hz on a near $1000, gotta be taking the piss don't ya

    The weight is whats keeping me from getting a pro.
    When you use a phone alot the weight is underrated, the lower the better

  • @erikwestre7970
    @erikwestre7970 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    The conclution is. The next iPhone 15 Pro Max, should be with the lightweight build of 14 Plus. Aluminium edges would help a lot with the weight.

    • @AlexGTech
      @AlexGTech  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That would be amazing. Maybe titanium? So we'd get the premium feel but not the extra weight.

    • @erikwestre7970
      @erikwestre7970 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AlexGTech Yup. They need to do something for sure. It's too heavy as it is now. Yes, we want big screens, but we also want phones that feels good in the hand. If there is strong materials that are lighter, then they should use them. I don't care if the Pro Max becomes 100$ more expensive, if it's lighter.

      Ergonomically this is one of the best out there! I love the Fold 4 too which is narrower but I appreciate it's a foldable, and it's also Android 😉 As far as iPhones, this felt great in the hand!
