- Here's " An Ordinary Copper" sung by the British Actor Jack Warner with Harmonica accompaniment by Tommy Reilly it was the Theme tune/song of the long running BBC Police series Dixon of Dock Green from a 78 rpm record recorded in 1957 played the authentic way on my beloved HMV 102 102 Wind up gramophone,
Dixon Of Dock Green was a long running police drama on British television(1955 - 1976)Which starred Jack Warner.He first played the character George Dixon in the film The Blue Lamp(1949)Although Constable Dixon was shot dead in the film he was later revived for the TV series.Jack Warner passed away in 1981 aged 85.
I patrolled a beat for 26 years and it was not a bad job most of the time.A lot safer than it is now.I have been retired now for 31 years and feel sorry for the coppers now.

yes our whole family used to sit together and watch this every saturday teatime in black a white bbc1 6.25pm when started work in engineering in 1975, they all used to whistle this tune, and stayed with me till now.

Its record breaking hot here exceeding 30 centipedes. I have to get Snowier out very early in the morning to avoid the heat she has some sort of possibly epileptic nervous issue that apart from causing her all manner of indescribably strange Ticks makes her overheat suddenly and send her breathing into dangerously uncontrollable I had to rush her to the vet twice last year so if in doubt she goes without her walk, Apparently Thursday we start returning to normal cooler changeable British weather Yippeee x
Can't you put her in a cool sink of water just to cool her down?
Unfortunately when her breathing goes out of control that doesn't work and heatstroke can cause organ failure if not dealt with urgently she needs hydrating with a drip and expert help as its brought on by her going into a seizure. Since she first started having nervous trouble about 3 years ago (she is 8) its been a learning process if in doubt stay home is my policy she dousent have the problem if not taken out,but does get bored. x

Yes I love this Gramophone I never cease to be amazed that it does what what it does with the need for electricity. I have a black one as well they came in about 7 different colours and were first marketed in the early 1930's,and still in wide use up until the early 1960's because of not needing a power supply. My HMV (The only Gramophone company for me) is a beautifully restored wooden polished HMV 109 Tabletop gramophone one of the best models ever produced as was the 102. My dear departed Fleas used to love dancing to big band music played on them x
