      At the very least I can recommend the mbarszcz modulator as being the best I have used...... this lumacode board using just a simple rca means that a single rgb2hdmi can be easily swapped between machines for perfect video......

    Holy shit, I'm blown away by how good that looks. I'm still going to attempt the component board just because I have it already but if it sucks I'll grab one of these.

      It's a good one, I'm going to put the component in my "d" which has a stock modulator, that's pretty poor so I'm not going to sacrifice much svideo

    Thanks for sharing. Night and day between this and the component board. If you want the sharpest picture you can get, this seems to be very best solution. Look forward to seeing it on the C64. :D

      The lumacode board works very well in the c128, however the atari boards have issues

    Properly installed, the component board should work together with the RGBtoHDMI. You really need to connect the GND pins.

      The 2 rear ground pins are ( were , i removed it now for lumacode ) connected to frame ground but from the underneath using a piece of kynar wire, I have the c64 version of this which works properly over the next few weeks I will make another video showing installation in the "d" I know it will be fine 🙂

    Looking good! I have a stock c128 with s-video to RetroTink Mini, then hdmi from there. Love it, but have jailbars ofc. Not sure how to get it as nice as yours?

      Well an easy upgrade for me was the mbarszcz modulator, but if you want perfect hdmi that has to be this board along with the rgb2hdmi, however there's a price difference.......

    Hi, congratulations first of all....I have a Commodore 128 and a Philips smart TV with HDMI output, my dream is to use my C128 with both 40 columns and 80 columns in RGBI and see them perfectly...not grainy or ugly but seeing everything in a nice and clean way for fonts and graphics is IT POSSIBLE????? Thank you

    Yep it's magic. I have RGBtoHdmi for 80 column too via an HDMI switch. C64 I can report just as good, a ropey C64G was transformed. Still feel this is the best solution cost wise... especially considering a framemeister in the chain..lag is supposed to be minimal too but would be nice to get some info on that.

      Completely agree on the cost front, it's a good idea about the hdmi switch ( I too have the rgb2hdmi for 80col ) as the lumacode is running at a multiple of the frames peed to encode the data I would expect the lag to be less than a frame, will deffo try this in some of my other machines too 👍

      The lumacode board introduces no lag. The individual pixels are generated at the same time as the original VIC-II would do that. To be completely honest, splitting all pixels into two samples actually causes the total information to arrive about one pixel later, but 120ns should really not be noticable.
      The RGBtoHDMI adds a bit of lag when upscaling but only about 1 or 2 milliseconds which is a fraction of one frame. So it really comes down to what your monitor/TV does then. I have a setup with a fast monitor and the overall lag is about 3ms. You really need an optical lag measuring device to be able to notice that.

      @copperdragon9286 120ns..... Holy shit thats fast, I'm assuming it's just as fast for other machines except where's there's 6bit encoded will slow slightly (180ns? ) which is still almost undetectable......

      @@CaptainCommodore Number of samples does not really make a difference, because they are just sent out with higher speed, anyway. This number is also just an estimate, but its about in the correct magnitude.
      Using an FPGA allows me to run everything as fast as the original hardware. If I really wanted, it would sometimes even be possible to generate the lumacode signal faster than the original chip.

      Of course, But for me that's not a bad thing, looks very nice and although I couldn't get it to work I'm hoping a later version fixes the scan line generation
