  • Vietnam 1967 and an NVA engineering team look to mine a riverbank. Ahead of them is a force somewhere in the jungle. Will they succeed?
    My first game of One Hour Skirmish Wargames and what turned out to be a great game!

    That was a great game in an amazing table! OHSW is a very practical set of rules to use in wargaming, imo. I also play solo. Thank you for sharing your video!

      Thanks for the great feedback and as a solo player you may be interested in my ruleset published by Caliver Books - Wargaming World Solo. It’s available globally and is written from Ancients to Modern with the solo player as the focus as you compete with the “Virtual You” opponent. Feel free to check out the website at www.wargamingworld.net

    You don't shuffle after drawing a Joker. It only ends the turn. This is important as if you have a short turn, your deck now only has one remaining Joker and a greater chance of a longer turn.
    It looked like you moved an American, moved and fired with a different one, then went back to the previously moved American to move (costing 3 AP). Once you finish with a figure you cannot go back to it.
    Also, you only check for initiative after a Joker ending turn, not after both sides move. Once initiative is established it goes back and forth between the two until a Joker.
    If that NVA figure actually contacted the downed American, it would resolve the close combat and the American would have been automatically removed.
    You mentioned whether close combat costs an action. It does, but the rules are ambiguous on that. John later said on the group that it was an action. Also, either firing or close combat ends that figure's turn. You cannot fire, as you surmised, after a close combat.
    Welcome to the FB group, by the way.

    I've never really given much thought to One Hour Skirmish Wargames, but you've tempted me. Your terrain is lovely - looks like lots of aquarium plants? The Joy of Wargaming is also a channel I enjoy too, so good to hear I'm not alone there either. Take care and thank you.

      Thanks very much and I’m glad it might tempt you to a new ruleset. The table came from Greenfield Scenics. I’d not “bought in” a tabletop before but they did such a great job. Thanks for watching and stay tuned for more videos and a solo ruleset to be published in the new year - Wargaming World Solo

    "Alphabetical Order" threw me a bit 15:50 so I Googled how to play Bridge and got the following - "From highest to lowest, the ordering is spades, hearts, diamonds, clubs. A common memory trick for the ordering is that it is in alphabetical order from lowest to highest. The first and second in the ordering are known as the major suits, the third and fourth are known as the minor suits."
    The ranking is backwards in terms of the alphabet!!!!!! Z first and A last.

    How do you play solo? do you play for both sides or is there an AI system in place?

    • @WargamingWorld
      @WargamingWorld  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Ulas I do both. For games such as NUTS there is a built in AI whereas for other games I set objectives for both sides. Also I use mechanisms where I have no control such as the use of cards where the joker ends the turn for example.

      @@WargamingWorld thanks!
      I'll look into NUTS
