  • The common narrative of Chicago is one of violence, homicides and guns. But there's a lot more to Chi-Town than mainstream media would lead us to believe.

    Rockford, Illinois is only an hour and a half away from Chicago and we are having the exact same issues for the same exact reason. REDLINING. Since when is the the value of a human life contingent upon the neighborhood they die in...

    Delete the drug war, and murders in Chicago fall by about a third in under a year. Also, cops have fewer reasons to shake down poor black people. But add some marginal restriction on gun ownership like reducing AR magazine sizes and you will see no difference in the murder rate.

    • @freesk8
      @freesk8 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      And why do the gang-bangers exist? Drug war, my man. And what is the next gun restriction they are considering? Magazine size restrictions, dude. My point is that gun control is not working to prevent gun deaths, and that if they really wanted to reduce gun deaths they would end the drug war. But they don't really want to do that.

    • @freesk8
      @freesk8 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      How do gangs get money? What draws new members to gangs? Its drug revenue, my friend. Maybe some prostitution/pimping. If the drugs were legal, and the prices fell, the gangs would have no revenue. They could not offer the big life and the bling to new recruits. I stick with my estimate: delete the drug war and urban murders fall by 30%. Are you actually defending the drug war, here? Should pot and coke and meth still be illegal in Chicago?

      the evidence seems to go against your premisethe growth in the size of Chicago gangs coincides with the development of the black market in the mid to late 60'swhen alcohol prohibition ended the black market related violence ended

    Chicago is a wonderful and beautiful city to live and work in. Majority of the crime you hear about on the News comes from 6-7 neighborhoods in total. Violence is not a city wide problem so don't believe what you hear on Fox or CNN

    Why would you attribute all problem onto racism or segregation? And end on that note? It is the worst conclusion with no good answer, you are saying by mixing races everything will magically fix themselves. The only person seems to know what is going on is the educator. The community leaders and historical scholars seems to only care to talk about historical segregation instead of fixing the problem in today's context.

    Chicago is not segregated. Every person there is free to move. In fact that is how they got there. They moved from the South. This video is just blame blame blame. Either you are the kind of person who can point a gun at another human and pull the trigger or you are not. Too many people in Chicago are that kind of person.

      @@nancysmith2389 Chicago's school system is a joke! People graduate 8th grade and still can't read. Not to mention the books are so old that it's not unusual for kids to find their grandparents names in some of the books supplied. Not to mention the high schools are even worse! The employment situation has more to do with the high taxation in Chicago, Cook County, and Illinois. Police misconduct had cost taxpayers in Chicago billion(s) in the 2000's alone. Which white residents complain about the high taxes in Chicago & its suburbs yet fail to comprehend that it's due to Police misconduct.
