I’d be blocking with P320 using the longest block possible on your flats by hand then step up to 400-600. Dura gold powdered guid coat worked into the primer it’s going to show highs lows and pin holes. I dry sand the 320 then wet on the 400-600. Sanding primers like body work you start with to fine to soon and you want cut the highs out ! When you’re sanding the radiuses you can use a foam sanding block but with paper wrapped around it. Good luck !

Hey! Thank you for the feedback! Quick question, if you cut it down with 320 first do you get a lot of burn through?
I’ll have to checkout the powdered guide coat! 🤟

@@GalvanizedMetals it’s like this if your guid coat is almost gone you can switch to the finer grit but if it’s still showing pretty dark then your still flattering the panel. I guess you gotta decide what your goal of being perfect is if you cut through but still showing lows but have burned through to steel in other spots you may need further body work. I’ve given up on some spots before and called it good enough!

Have a couple of questions. It has been a while since i have painted a car.
Am doing a 76 Chevy Blazer completely blown apart, paint is not in bad shape. Already fixed some door damage on both doors. Sanded those areas down to metal, Epoxy primed then did the body work. Replaced both rear lower corners behind rear wheels, Epoxy primed then body work.
Will start block sanding whole Blazer now. Here is my questions.
Original paint is just weathered, no cracks. Can i just block sand with like 120 then move to like 320 to finish?
After block sanding, Re Epoxy worked areas and any bare metal there might be before Y2K primer?
I am sure there will be days after i Re Epoxy stuff before i Y2K Prime. Just block sand the Epoxy with 320 before Y2K primer?

Hello and happy new year! Thanks for tuning in. 1976 Chevy Blazer eh...those trucks are killer!
I would start with 180, I love that 180 isn't intensely aggressive, yet it still cuts and preps for the next grit. If you don't run into any further issues then jump over to 320 afterwards on the rest of the truck.
Yes, I've learned always epoxy before 2k primer and in a lot of cases the epoxy sealer acts as a sealer AND primer coating. I like 2k primer always before basecoat to block and flatten before color (personal preference).
I believe many do not sand/block epoxy (depending on how smooth it lays) but, I like the reassurance of knowing what I'm spraying on. So I would recommend 320 before you spray 2k primer IF you feel the surface needs to be flattened before primer.
YOU GOT THIS!!!! One step at a time and it is going to come out awesome you'll see!!!
Reach out anytime and share pictures of the project!! I can't wait to see it!
