Echo that. I'm enjoying the rookie series even though I used to Skate hard but have come back after over 20 yrs at 51. So conditioning and resilience etc are a big topic for me.
I agree brother, we never stretched when we were young in the 90s. We always just hit the spot and started ripping, now that I’m 43 I take a little extra care of my old bones! 🤙🏼😎
Great advice as always. And speaking as an older skater...I probably wouldn't be one if I'd spent my years getting drunk a couple times a week. I love beer but if you just stay steady drinking, in your thirties your body type will go from young to middle-aged and flabby, and it gets harder and harder to reverse...
Man I see lots of ppl in their 30's 40's skating or getting back to skateboarding and I am so happy there is a new community of skaters I by myself am 31 and what u say is really important and thanks to skating I also pay much more attention to my daily workout routine and skating is key factor when it comes to being consistend with body workout. Take care and have lots of fun skating
Good shit. At 43 years old regular breaks are a must! Work out every week, eat right, sleep good, repeat. It’s crazy how some people can skate drunk. I would eat it hard.
Ive only regretted the Ollie the set thing one time and I tweaked my pinky for like 2 years but other than that I HAVE to hit that Ollie first. It tells me how long I can expect to be in the air and hope much impact to expect. You rip man to each their own and thanks for the content !
Great video, and advice brother. You are spot on with your growth and knowledge. Skateboarding is high impact, and you must take care of your body, to avoid and manage injuries.
When I didn’t used to stretch and foam roll everyday my tricks weren’t really there but now I started to make it a routine everyday except like 1 day out of the week and my tricks and the way I learn tricks got very consistent so it really does make a difference just have to put the time it’s worth it 💯
Similar results for me. I’m more consistent and able to skate more often, when I take care of myself. I have honestly slacked on the foam roller. Need to add that to the routine more often
Dude you're super cool, the music taste is above par as well I'm impressed! Would love to see a video about the bands you love! I have the same la.m.f. tat, u know the goods 🤜🤛✨ take care dude! ps. make more 8.5s with the Belushi graphic !
I don't think about what all can go wrong when i'm skating. I'm 37, got back into skating 5yrs ago, and never had a complete broken bone until now. Just by hitting a patch of loose rocks at the bottom of a hill has put me down for months dealing with a broken collar bone. I know now overconfidence even on easy tricks or just bombing a hill can cause major injury. I was unprepared with now shop broom, and no small blower, but I did anyway. I will it at that cus I can go on and on about it.
Love these tips! If you have experience with groin/front hip pain would be aswesome to get some tips to fix this. I get a lot of pain in that area when I ollie, but especially when I kickflip or suck up my knee to my chest.
I had this experience for ages where when I'd suck my knees up after a kick flip or ollie and my groin area would really hurt. Turns out the reason for it for me was because I always did my tricks with my shoulders open and facing the nose. As soon as I started squaring my shoulders with the board, and keeping my shoulders perfectly in line with my feet while doing tricks, not just for the pop and stuff but staying square throughout the entire trick, within a week or two the pain was completely gone. Give that a go. stay fully square for every trick you do and give it a bit of time.
Make video on after you land a trick for the first time, you rest a couple days because it drained you to learn , you come back feeling great but when you try it , it’s not there and you’ve lost it (your not injured ) either this is very annoying it’s like progress leaves in that few days like you’ve rested 3 years!!!
Physical pursuit is a Discipline. A sport does require competition. I'm 41 and I have been skateboarding everyday for 197 days in a row as of today. I have to be disciplined to do so. But I compete with no one. I perform for no one. I skate for longevity. It is a discipline.
@@NormanWoods trying man , like I said the substance abuse is the biggest issue I think. I had a skate group I used to ride with but they always needed huge blunts every session and it got to the point I’m afraid to commit to stuff bc I’m too high
If you accept the blood atonement of Jesus Christ through faith you will go to heaven and get a new body. Yes take care of yourself kids. I'm 35 and almost died trying to use alcohol to deal with the pain. More importantly call on Jesus and tell him you believe that He died for our sins, was buried and rose again the third day and make sure you're saved. It's a free gift. The only reason a person can go to hell is rejecting God's only Son. I love Duffman also. Edit: OMG! I got a heart! My comments usually get deleted. I love you brother very much! My best friend died almost the same time I did a year ago and I quit drugs and alcohol. My friend wasn't so lucky. His heart started going too fast and he could barely breathe and he died. Same thing happened to me but I barely kept breathing and I said Lord of you let me live I promise I'll share the gospel. I'm no different than you guys. I'm a skateboarder. Proverbs 9:10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the holy is understanding. /// God is love but God is also holy.
Hey Norman, can you make a skate-specific stretch + warm up routine video? That would be great
I’ll put that on the list 👊🏾
Please do ^^^
Check out "the daily push" or "old friends fitness", they both have really good advice and programs around this

Underrated topic , also talk about drugs and substance abuse affect your skating

You’re so right. I’ve switched to Athletic Brewing Company’s non-alcoholic IPAs this year.
Knees over toes guy, Ben Patrick, couple that with Mr Wood's suggestions, you'll be kickflip crooking the top of Mac trucks
You’ll definitely be having some fun 👊🏾😂
His stuff is really good, "the daily push" also

I’m with you. I always kept away from booze during sessions. Not trying to be skating impaired and dehydrated 😂

Love the advice you give man! All topics that aren’t usually covered and it’s a super helpful and refreshing perspective 👌

I don't know if you are into yoga, but theres a stretch "pigeon pose" thats great for hip flexors. 🙏🏼
Thank you
Thanks for the advice! Hope you feel 100% soon!

Thank you sir! Likewise on the taste. Maybe I can do a “music I love” vid, when I reach 10k subs.

Man! A few pebbles can really ruin your day. Had a few run ins. Sometimes those injuries are worse than what you get trying a trick. Heal up!
Broke my collarbone last July. That was awful IMO. Just terrible

There are a few that I’ve used. But this one helped the most: th-cam.com/video/L_xrDAtykMI/w-d-xo.html
Great video
Damn! U started skating when I was born 😅
My skateboarding tenure could buy itself a drink, and even rent a car 😂😂😂
Ty :)
please tell me the most ideal truck height. i m having a set up madness. i had venture low n felt like i cant pop high with them. 😂

I know this feeling. You think you have it. But the next time you skate, it takes you 199 tries to land another one. So frustrating.

I workout so I’m good lol
Ahead of the game
