Really nice! I love the wood panels and cubby holes. I have a 96 Isuzu Rodeo and I'm looking to do something similar, so thanks for making the video. It gives me some ideas.

If I was doing it again, I'd make the section with drawers a little bit shorter, and NOT use the mounting points from the seat belt (I'd just make new mounting points) so that I'd have the option to remove just the front storage box, and put the rear seat back in, leaving the rear drawer setup in place. Wouldn't be too hard to do.

i was wondering about the rear seats, That is something that i would definitely need the option for, putting the rear seats in with ease, and not having to remove too much.

If you're cool with less storage space, you can build a half-sized deck with a hinged piece to fold over the lowered seats. When you want the seats back, just fold everything back up, like this:

By the way, beautiful work, Jay!

Hey man, cool truck. I've been looking at both these and Toyota surfs but these are easier to find with a manual box which I really want. The issue is these seem shorter than the surfs and I want to sleep in the back. I am only 5ft7 however so do you think the SWB trooper would be okay or would I need to look for a LWB one? Many thanks!!

killerbanjo are talking about the RS model? Because I believe all the others (2 door or 4 door like mine) share the same wheelbase. I’m 5’11”, and slept just fine in mine, so you’d be fine in any thing but the short RS model, which they only made in 1989.

George Williams I’m 5’11” - and I fit, but barely if I was laying down straight. Probably about 6ft exactly. If you lay diagonally across the space, you’d gain a lot of extra space.

@@jayhocking I see, I thought there would be more room with the back seats taken out. But I guess not, thanks!
also do the back seats just pull out or did you have to take out brackets etc?
Thanks for getting back to me.

A couple of easy to reach bolts hold the seat on, and then two bolts removed for the seatbelts. I used those seat belt bolts to secure by platform.
