  • Using only a mig welder and basic woodworking tools, I was able to build this lightweight aluminum winch bumper, in my carport. With the right techniques and planning, you can do it too! The Vehicle is a 1989 Isuzu Irmsher Bighorn from Japan. AKA Isuzu Trooper, Holden Jackaroo, Etc. It is a 2.8 Turbo Diesel with top mount intercooler. The injectors and pump have been modified and it is set to run 22psi of boost with 3"custom intake and exhaust.

I really like your Isuzu build! What is your wheel/tire set up?

I'm running 255/85/R16 tires. Wheels are 8" wide with zero offset.

I touched on that in the video, but so far so good, even during the heat wave we had this summer.

Now you know why these custom front bumpers retail $2000 and up, It's a LOT of work. Any of your templates for sale? (I have an 86 2.23 td.)

Oh totally, I built it out of necessity, not really for fun. If I could have bought something I would have. Sooo much work to design and build for a one off. I’d like to sell a cutlist for this someday, or flat pack mail out.

@@backroadmonkeys1622 Sure, put me on that list of people who are interested in a cutlist/flatpack. I'm on the East coast of the U.S., Connecticut.

@@backroadmonkeys1622 you should set up an Amazon affiliate-link for the tools and the saw/ router blades. You don’t have to together a fancy cut list and template for me. I got the winch and a digital welder and just need to get started. My problem will be finding the sheet aluminum.

@@backroadmonkeys1622 I'm not sure if you ever made a cut list for this but I would be VERY interested in buying one from you! Fantastic work!
