Incredibly, that's the point, videos in which you can know what will happen before it happens.
The PlayStation Portal still seems really amazing, and I might still think about picking one up to use for my PS5 console sometime too!

Nice unboxing video and thanks so much for uploading this too! Even though I already have a PS5 now and all, I'm actually not sure yet if I'm planning on picking up the PlayStation Portal for my PS5 and if I ever do decide to get one sometime, I might wait at least a year or two before buying one.

I don’t understand the hate for this thing. The people hating on this thing are the same people that were using there phones and tablets to game on. This is no different than that it’s just a dedicated device from Sony.
The PlayStation Portal device almost reminds me of the Wii U GamePad controller for Nintendo's Wii U game console and it also almost looks like a Nintendo Switch system too.
Reminds me of the Switch minus the detachable controllers

PS Vita pairs directly with PS4, no router required...not this tablet! What a setback. Not to mention that it has native games. The console was just ahead of its time.

Setback? It's a completely different type of device. Also, completely different price. I bought it at launch for $250 in 2012. It was quite a lot of money back then. I loved it and played a lot of games while commuting to and from work but this is a different type of device

Tbh, I read that you only require a router for a wireless pass through. Which theoretically means It doesn’t necessarily need to be connected to the internet just needs a Host/Client sided connection.
So it will basically work just how the vita did? If you have an extra router not connected to the internet. Try it. Up side, great remote play experience. Down side not being connected to the globe. So stick with story mode games loo
I just got mine about an hour ago. It's a lot lighter than I expected. Maybe even lighter than the DualSense Edge. played Spider-Man 2 and theHunter: Call of the Wild for about 20 minutes each and the sticks seems a lot more fluid and sensitive than the regular DualSense, DualSense Edge and the Scuf Reflex I have, where everything moves super smoothly. I rarely get that with Remote Playing so I actually have high hopes for this.
would u recommend it? and have u tried it/ could u try using it on mobile data and lmk what its like if u wouldnt mind., because if its not great on a mobile hotspot i wont get it. i wanna get one but will use it alot on the go using my hotspot or at my families house when i stay there
@@tropazcentral233 if you're not using this on HOME wifi dont bother. I have one and i love it but I would never try to run it off a cellphone hotspot. It is for in house HOME NETWORK use only if you want a good experience

The PlayStation Portal still seems really amazing and all, but I still don't quite know yet though if I'm actually going to pick one up for my PS5 console and if I ever do decide to finally get one, I might wait another year or two perhaps before I finally decide to invest in one to use for the PS5.

Can you test out latency lag on cod and nba 2k? I know there is alittle lag in cod and 2k when your shoot the ball with the shot meter
I like that you can say dualsense so many people say jewelsense and it drives me crazy, I must admit I never finished astros 😂 played it for 30 minutes got bored deleted it.

I know I already asked this question a long while back, but since I was still wondering though, can you also still sign into your PlayStation Network account manually on the PlayStation Portal using just an e-mail address and password for PSN like you can on the PS5? I was still wondering about that as well since I actually don't scan QR codes myself being that I'm just not into that sort of thing. Even though this is already 2024 now, I'm kind of an old-fashioned person and all since I still do certain things like it's 2003 or something almost.
I’m aware of how much of a step back this device is compared to the Vita and PSP, but a part of me may want one sometime down the line.

So far is good enough for playing single player games. I wouldn't recommend if your serious about online multiplaying.
It’s only as good as your internet. Iv had times where the game quality and latency is amazing. And times where it’s been abit shaky
@@MarcthegeekMy kid is playing Fortnite on it with his friends right now and he says there's no lag. Obviously it's not suitable for competitive gaming but for a casual multiplayer it might work. I don't care much because I only play single player games.

Imagine you are playing monster Hunter game
Since PS5 games can be streamed and played on the PlayStation Portal and since the PS5 is also backwards compatible with PS4 games apparently, can the PlayStation Portal play PS4 games too or will it only play just PS5 games instead? I was just wondering.
It streams games from your PS5. If you have ps4, ps3 or ps2 games on your PS5, they will stream to the portal. The portal itself is NOT playing anything

I think this is where there's so much confusion.
The Portal is effectively just the display. It will just show you whatever your ps5 is running - just like your TV would 👍

I'm an archaic person and I just prefer to still do things my way and the old-fashioned way since I'm just saying and thanks anyway for the advice. I'm just not used to the way people do certain things in 2023 since I still do things people would have done 20 years ago almost. Personally, I like the new technology and all, but I'm just not used to it and I've never scanned QR codes before either. In fact, I don't even have a smartphone. I have a cell phone, but it's one of those old flip phones people mostly used back around the late 2000s or so even though it still has a built-in camera, and it still connects to the Internet.
Use your phone scan the QR code and you will log in within seconds

Hi, while using the portable PS5, the console PS5 don't suppose enter to rest mode (Orange light)? Or it should stay on at all time? Please help
U can use the ps portal while the ps5 is on rest mode, it doesn’t need to be on
If PS5 is in rest mode you can use the Portal to turn the console on just like a normal controller.

you can. Just all depends on the internet connection you're using

PS5 has to be in rest mode so the Portal can link up and connect.

how much internet data does it use an hour? 😅 Will you internet bill go up? Makes no sense to remote play to eat up monthly Data just to play handheld.

One day people might learn the difference between 2.4ghz and 5ghz wifi network bands. 5ghz is not "always better" smh
It's 100% always better for me when playing remote playing.
2.4 for distance 5ghz for close range.

No matter what a 5ghz is going to have a faster speed and more bandwidth so it always going to be smoother and more consistent in the same conditions

Sony said cloud streaming is in the works for the portal since there's no technical limitations preventing it.
Think it’s more of a bandwith thing. Your ps5 would need to process a stream while sending one at the same time

it's not just your speed that's at play. You need a good router too. If you're using the default one provided by your ISP it's probably going to have issues. I have google fiber 1gb with a gaming router and ps portal works great

What 1GB internet and you still have issues I have 15mb internet speed and I gamed just fine. I have a 5ghz router so that probably helps don’t use the portal on a 2.4ghz router.

Although, I've found my experience was flawless when I was on the same network at home, but at my in-laws house (on their network, with my ps5 at home) the resolution dropped... I didn't feel like there was any lag or latency but the picture quality wasn't as good...
