Price of Tea in China changed my life. Growing up in Detroit I was aware of Boldy peripherally. He dropped Trappers Alley when I was in high school but it got overshadowed by Doughboyz Cashout's We Run The City 3 which took over the city that year. I heard 1st Chemistry Set and kept him on my radar from then on. Then Price of Tea came out and it was all I could listen to that year. Boldy doesn't have the Detroit rapper sound, but he paints such a vivid portrait of Detroit like no one has in history. It's everything I ever wanted out of a hiphop album. He maps out a whole route through the city and I could tell you every where he went. Every building he passed, every pothole he had to dodge. I remember riding my bike to Belle Isle listening to the record for the first time and I shed a tear. Pure Detroit.
doughboyz cashout really shoulda gotten bigger outside of detroit, their one of my favorite rap collectives and i only found out about them thru babytron (im from NYC) boldy james definitely also needs way more recognition because hes definitely one of the greatest rappers of all time. he definitely came late, no one really fucks with his style of music no more
The best compliment I can give this channel is that it deepens my appreciation for an art form I already fuck with so much! This really is that dope shit!
Bo Jack is an example of an underrated Hip Hop artist. Salute to the G for staying authentic to his “sound”. 1 of my favorites, so much so that I curated a playlist of his music on Tidal.💯✊🏾
I haven’t watched the video yet but yes. I agree. easily the greatest if not THE greatest rapper in this 2020 decade. Manger On McNichols is a 10/10 flawless record and I recommend everyone to listen. Thank you for talking about this underrated monster of a rapper. I’ll watch the video and enjoy now thanks..
It's funny because I'd say it's his most experimental album, yet many regard it as his best project. Which in many ways, it is. Just as much as 'Fair Exchange' is imo. Where some prefer the heavy set production of Manger, I like the unadorned, lightness of 'Fair Exchange..''. 🫡
Price of Tea in China -> Manger on McNichols -> Bo Jackson -> Super Tecmo Bo is one of the best music runs EVER One of my favorite MCs incredibly intelligent and lurid writing, super cold and charismatic delivery, and picks the best beats.
yeah, 2020-2022 how do you have a run like that?!?!!? Bo Jackson is my favorite hands down, but I I had Fair Exchange on loop for a good 2 weeks when it dropped.
Got to see him live in NOLA for the NBA leather tour. He had a great set. At one point he shouts out to the crowd “ who wanna hear that My 1st Chemistry Set?” The crowd went crazy, and then as soon as it calmed down again he said “ yall mother fuckers never heard that shit” and kept playing stuff from the price of tea in China. 😂
🤣 People are sleeping on My 1st Chemistry Set. But Price of Tea >> That NBA leather tour was fire. Action fell ill and couldn't perform, but Boldy shut that sh*t down. Al started rapping too, it was dope.
@@tdsnuggz not trying to doxx you, but which show did you attend? We got super lucky in NOLA bc it happened to be Earl's birthday night. We got like an extra hour encore. probably the best show i've ever been to.

I had zero idea Boldy James was 41 until seeing this hahaha, thought he was like 28 or sumn
Crazy part is, he's out rapping dudes that are 28 🤯
Dang, so I'm still 3 years younger than "the best rapper of the 2020's." Guess it's not too late for me yet.
I’m 35 and people still think I’m in my 20s 💯😂
finally, a channel that gives my taste some love
You got a great taste in music, my friend. 🫡
