The Trim tool cleans up remnants of scans from rooms that aren't fully scanned. For example, if you scan a room with an open door, you can use the Trim feature to remove the scanned area that appears through the open door if you don't want it included in your overall space.
Ah! Thanks for sharing. That's pretty handy.
Very cool, I didn't know that you can take 3d scan like that iin 360 without lidar. thanks for the tutorial Taylor
Thanks! Yeah you can even do it with your phone you just have to spin for every scan.
The picture quality update was a good addition, and was looking for insta360 x3 virtual tour videos when one of my RE youtubers dropped this only minutes after!
Ha!! Hope the video was helpful for you.
Just heard from Insta360 and they are going to give the feedback to their R&D team so hopefully they will level it up sometime :)
@@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo that's awesome! Hopefully they do. The x3 has so much potential imo.
@@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo surely it's matterport who restrict the resolution to protect their expensive products? I don't think it's an insta360 limitation.
@markpalmos Yeah, thats what I was thinking.
Nice breakdown! Yeah it's a bummer it doesn't give you any controls over the settings. Pretty much just like doing it with the 1-inch!
Thanks! Yeah, Insta350 reached out after seeing my video and said they'd let the R&D dept. know so maybe they will make it better sometime. Id imagine it's got something to do with Matterport trying to sell their cameras for full functionality though..
Cool. Are the panorama photos automatically saved in the Insta360 while capturing the virtual tour?
Thanks! Pretty sure it just saves in the Matterport app when you’re doing it this way.
Nice video… I initially bought a Mi Sphere but I find there’s issues with the lighting and stitching.
Just out of interest what kind of price do you tend to charge for a 360 video (I know it’ll vary from country to country but just intrigued)
I’m terrible at knowing how/what to charge
Cheers and look forward to the next video
Thanks! On average I see them going for 150-300 ish for normal size houses as an add on to other services. When I used to do them with Matterport they were around 350 (kind of high) at the company I was working with but that was in 2016 when it was still a relatively new thing for luxury listings.
I find that charging roughly $ .10 a sq/ft is a fair amount. I charge a base of $200 and that includes up to 2000 sq/ft and $ .10/sq/ft above that, so a 2700 sq/ft home would be $270 here in the Charleston, SC market.
@@djcrash77 Great Insight! Thanks
13:26 i use this camera for 360 RE all the time and tbh the 72mp isnt much better because its a quad bayer sensor. you get a little more luma info but no extra chroma so its only a slight bump in the visual detail. i've been upressing them with topaz ai instead but that wouldnt work for matterport. i use kuula
Great insight! Thanks for sharing. Have you thought about upgrading to the x2 1 inch sensor version?
Hi realtor from the UK. Have you seen Giraffe 360? Floorplan, virtual tour and HDR photos at the push of a button. Simple and quick to use and gives good results for the non photographers on my team.
Hey! Never heard of it before now. Pretty crazy! Looks to be pretty similar to Matterport's cameras capability-wise but much cheaper right? Would love to check out a listing your team has done with them!
Hi @davidw2910 - is it a subscription only package?
@davidw2910 also, having just watched a few giraffe 360 videos (which were highly impressive) someone has commented that you are charged additional fees for the number of scans you require (over and above the subscription fee) - do you know if this is the case? I'm very interested by this.... could be a game changer
@@dannyrichardson8861 hi, yes that correct you buy an allowance. Hasn’t been too tricky to estimate the requirement for 12 month period.
We’ve been using them since post COVID and wouldn’t look back. Especially the photo quality, as I said guys love it, as even they can now take good images with no camera knowledge required.
Processed and back in an hour most times.
Sounds pretty sweet!
Heya Taylor.
My question is: Have you found that the request/need for doing/offering virtual tours has declined over the past year?
Something I've never understood: why would an agent want a virtual tour instead of a video tour ?
Whut say ewe, sire? Thanks, Chuck (NE Florida) -- However, comma, I do like the "doll house." I do like your "speed zoom" into the doll house to start the virtual tour.
Oh yeah, tell your mom that I'm available to join y'all for breakfast or lunch ... or dinner. Remember, call me anything, but 'late for dinner." Arf!
haha great question! I think they're still pretty common but I've seen more people doing floorpans as parts of regular packages - probably because it shows the layout without showing "everything" that realtors don't necessarily want to show to everyone. I feel like 360 tours are probably best for rental venues, commercial spaces etc. because they are going to be useful long term and their clients NEED measurements and all of that to plan for. Going over there for a pizza night tonight - should be fun!
because a video tour is linear, preset, passive, virtual tour is not.
It's really bad that it's 18 mp. Which platform can I use that offers higher resolution? I'm open to your advice
You can do the photos normally with the hdr mode and upload them to make your own tour on something like cloudpano. Works well & lots more detail!
@@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo Did the cloudpano clipboard fix the picture quality issues?
@hikmetokcu9736 Should be higher quality I think from when I used it before. I don’t know a ton about it in-depth though.
@@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo Will scanned domains continue to be displayed after subscription cancellation?
@hikmetokcu9736 On Matterport? Unfortunately no. support.matterport.com/s/article/FAQ-Subscription-Cancellation?language=en_US
Any tips on using 60fps footage on a 30fps timeline/export to prevent choppy video on the 60fps footage?
Main thing would be to not go below 1/2 speed if you're doing slow motion. Otherwise check your other settings while filming especially shutter speed. What are you doing currently for that?
@@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo 1/125 for 60, my camera doesn’t go to 1/120 but all my footage is 60 because I like to leave room for ramping. Do speed ramps work as well on 30fps?
Yeah, they should work regardless of your frame rate or timeline settings since all you’ll have more frames than you need per second. Are you doing slow motion too?
@@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo Sometimes yeah, but I notice sometimes in my 60fps footage at regular speed, the 30fps timeline can cause a little judder. If I switch back to a 60fps timeline it looks fine. I think this can happen using different framerates on a 30 fps or 24fps timeline as I looked into it.
@@Myketrocity During your speed ramps or during the normal speed portion of the edit?
I am disappointed by the automatic switch from 72mp to 18mp I also experienced, hopefully matterport can fix it.
Nice video tho, thank you for trying to keep it honest despite your affiliation with the brand.
Yeah! They said they would let the R&D team know about the feedback but we'll see! Thanks for checking it out :)
They’ll never “fix” it. It’s intentional. Matterport doesn’t want other cameras competing with their own Pro series cameras. They’ll gladly let you open an account though and charge you to use their software.
