3:48 “these platforms look so small until you get closer to them” is exactly opposite my experience. They seem small from above but seem to get even SMALLER as i land. 😉

Interesting. My father used to fly to off shore rigs in the Middle East in the late 70s or early 80s in Jet Rangers. Back then there was no GPS so it was all dead reckoning into the haze.
He said that you would often not spot the rig until the last moment and have to correct course quickly to not fly past it.
I wonder if you can set the weather to give a haze and reduced visibility.
Yes you can set the weather to reduce visibility, especially if you set time to early morning. In the 70’s etc. pilots certainly had to fly relying on their instinct👍

This mod is great with OpenAir also from Aerosoft. Which will allow you to turn MSFS into American Truck sim, start your own Airline or company run cargo or passenger deliveries - also incorperates this mod with helicopters in delivering supplies, cargo, workers to the rigs and ships. Really worth it for this mod as it will give you a purpose to land at the different rigs and ships.

One or two of the oil rig models they have used certainly are hell, looks like something from FS98.
Out for XBox now! Not tested yet but hopeful it keeps a playable framerate.
Is anyone experiencing steering issues with the crew vessel? I’m using the thrustmaster yoke rudder and it starts to turn but when I let go the vessel returns to the original direction or thereabouts.
Thanks. I tried to pay more that £1 the other day but it wouldn’t let me lol. I have similar helicopter experience to you. It’s hard to judge the distance when arriving. Great videos Mark.

All we continue to see is UK/Euro development. The attention to Asia is relatively speaking appalling if not ignorant.
You are developing based on historical sales numbers, which are strong in UK/Europe. But this is only because that is where you are developing products for. Start adding some SE Asian products and you will see sales like never before. China, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, etc - boy are you missing a gold mine.

Never flew the helicopters much despite being a very old tooth and simming since the late 80s early 90s. This may just be the ticket to forcing my hand, and giving it a go. Well, giving it a crash into the North Sea and seeing if I get rescued in time :)

Any idea what would be best latest helicopter to use with this? Payware included?
I would recommend, to start, the Got Friends Mini500. Best handling using the new helicopter model in MSFS.

Not yet on the marketplace, but will be there. Currently available (PC) from Aerosoft directly.

100% buying this as soon as it hits the MSFS Marketplace (I won't use Aerosoft One, it's unnecessary bloat). This is one of those addons that will provide hours and hours of exploring. Can't wait for this to arrive!

As the Xbox is effectively a ‘’sandbox’’ for security reasons there are limitations. The introduction of WASM in late March will be a big step for MSFS and Xbox and allow for much more add ons and complexity. Until then we are stuck with the constraints of the console.
