    🔥🔥🔥 I've gone FASTER! A lot FASTER! Check out my 2:14.895 in my new 206 Gti 180 on exactly the same power, just better set up, better driving! Let me know if you watch this video in the comments:

    iRacing just announced that they will be adding this track to the free base content for members next season. I can't wait to turn some laps here. I came here to get an advance look at the track and got an excellent track guide into the bargain. Cheers!

      Wow this is a coll development! Can't wait to see how it looks. One day I'll get back into iRacing. I enjoyed it so much in it's early days, just need to get the set up for it again!

    I just did my first ever trackday in a car there today in my MK4 Golf diesel banger. I managed a 2 min 54 in damp conditions with a bit of a dry line in places. ABS and traction control unit packed up earlier in the day not that I needed them but nice to have ABS.
    Your lines look like the lines I was trying to take. As I was running Uniroyal Rainsport 3's with massive 55 tractor profiles I probably wouldn't have been any quicker in the dry, they are hopeless on the road, this is my daily driver, well my only car at the moment. Half a tank of fuel to get there, drive around and get home so cheap enough when your a bad boy on a budget.

      Sounds like a fun day Marcus! It's not all about turning up in a massive transporter with endless spares and chasing lap times! Keeping it all sensible and on a budget is just as fun. And get the the car home in one bit is always a bonus! Bring on the 2022 track day season 👍🏼

    Nice lap. Felt like a short circuit. I'm thinking about doing a track day looks fun.

      Thanks! It’s quite long compared to other UK circuits really. Lots of corners to get right, and get wrong. There’s a link to my faster lap in the description, down to a 2min 14s.

    Cracking guide, James, cheers.
    I'm in a Fiesta 150 ST, (TP, Total Production/D Class - 1,112 Kg).
    I was testing there Friday and racing yesterday - my best was a 2:28.
    Good to know you're using the same gears as me, apart from Riches.
    I was taking Riches in 3rd, but my driver coach reckons 4th is better -but I was taking the 1st apex giving a cars width and nailing the 2nd apex.
    I'm back in two weeks time, so I'll have a little experiment with that.

      Hi Ian! Thanks for the comment and glad the video was useful. It's really motivating as I enjoy making them. Do you have any onboard you'd like to share from Snetterton that I could take a look at? I'm racing there on October 3rd. Also - as an actor and racing driver yourself, are there any tips or suggestions for me in terms of how to improve my YT channel and delivery of my videos? I'm very open to suggestions (and critique!). I'm wondering if to branch into something like "Top 5 do's / don'ts" in racing / track days. Just something different! Any feedback would be great 😎

      @@JamesWilson234 - Hi James, I've been going over my Friday Testing data and Saturday Race data on Circuit Tools this morning - and have just uploaded my fastest lap - th-cam.com/video/_UR6GqA0rRk/w-d-xo.html. Obviously running Toyo 888s, Diurezzas would be worth a couple of seconds. I found you channel via a simple web search. It's really useful to how drivers of similar cars approach circuits. Scott Mansell's Driver61 vids are great - but he's always in a bloody Radical. I think a Top 5 Do's and Dont's is an excellent idea - plus I've not seen one, so it could be very popular - there's so much to learn when you go racing. Purely from a personal, and perhaps nerdy point of view, a pre-amble at the start detailing the car, tyres, weight, engine power and torque output and where they max in the rev range would help. Like I said, I was using 3rd for Riches, but my Driver coach (who went out in a 2:21.97 in the same car) uses and advises 4th - also they wanted, I guess for engine protection as much as anything, me to use 4th for Coram. Thing is, he's VERY experienced and braking later, carrying more speed at the apex and able to use a higher gear without coming too much off the power. Have a good race at the weekend, I'm back there again, the week after next, 9th - see if I remember everything, and my cohones haven't shrunk back.

      @@IanSeale That's great feedback thanks. Already working on a new video about Snetterton comparing 2 different driving styles 👍 I watched your hot lap video. Looking nice and smooth. I'd say there's a bit more track to be used each corner - so ever so slightly later turn in, and winding the lock off slightly earlier on exit so you aim to at least touch each exit kerb. This means a shallower angle in the corner, less steering lock, can commit to the throttle much earlier and gain time down every subsequent full throttle zone. Riches is classic for turning into too early because you see an apex and naturally aim for it, then you get there and realise the racing line is the second apex and you wish you'd turned in later 😂 It just takes laps and laps to remember that and be confident to miss the first part of a fast corner!

      @@JamesWilson234 hi James, thanks for updating your videos. Crazy how your fastest lap was one with cars in the way and compromised lines. But really not a lot in considering the different gears used between the two laps. It was the CMMC awards night at the weekend, and I won the TP class for 2020 and 2021 in the Fiesta ST. I know it's different cars and different stages of tune but you are 10 seconds quicker than me on the 300 circuit! ☹️. I plan to race again in the fiesta with the cmmc this season. First race is in March at Silverstone on the international circuit all the best, Ian

      @@letsdrivecars That's a lot of extra weight and the length of the 300 circuit accentuate's performance difference, be it car, driver or both. Is there anything I do in my video that look dramatically different to your own?

    • @letsdrivecars
      @letsdrivecars 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JamesWilson234 I struggle a bit at the end of the Bentley straight and I think you carry more speed through corum than I do. Should hopefully have another day at Snetterton this year so I’ll try and I think 2:23 is a reasonable target for me.

    • @JamesWilson234
      @JamesWilson234  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@letsdrivecars That whole last section has taken loads of practice from my visits there and keeping momentum bags you loads of time. Bomb hole through Coram has taken loads of building up because it feels like you're going to have a mega crash if you get it wrong, so finding the limit does need building up to. The car should be dancing through Coram all the way to the Murrays braking and turn in. That is scary and exciting all at the same time!
