I had friends who lived in the villas during the late 90s early 2000s, all of us used to sit on the lawn in summer with a picnic and some wine, its like being in a small rural village in the middle of a city, great architecture and history, thanks for sharing, really interesting 😊
i worked in one of these houses back in 1992 (i still have a lovely ceramic tile i found in the garden) the Villas are an unexpected hidden gem of Stoke-on-Trent ❤
The house with the blue front door at 2.39- am sure we had an emergency call to a burst pipe there a few years back- had never been up that street before - they are beautiful inside
Brilliant video.I had a American friend come over to visit us last year and this is one of the places I took him and his wife to sight see.I was just as in awe as they were (I live locally). The Villas is a wonderful and strange piece of history, slap bang in the middle of Stoke.
Loving your history analysis of staffs as I’ve grown up Stafford,Cheadle, eccleshall, stoke. Born in longton now living in birches head thank you for all the nostalgia you provide me and many interesting facts I never knew of. Great videos 👍👀
I hope you have an off road vehicle - the road is in terrible condition. Some of the houses have been converted into flats and single rented rooms. Sad. They're not kept upto good standards by the gardens are neglected no one wants to pay to have the road repaired. I've lived in the area for nearly 50 years and it's sad to see the area decline
I know this vampire story from a long time ago as I was friends with a kid who lived in that very house. I thought it was a cool story, but they told me never to bring it up as it would terrify his little brother and his family would get a little weird about the subject. They were eastern european too. I just thought it was made up at the time. until i found newspaper articles that corroborated it. Lovely living room and garden out back. The place also had a vibe to it at times.
I've not been in the Villas since the mid-80's :D I don't recall how but I got invited to a big party there and spent the entire night earnestly and drunkenly discussing many deep and important things ... or so twenty year old self-important me thought :grins: I am trying to recall which house it was - definitely on the left as you go into the street ... maybe the second house along?
It's quite a sad story about Demetrius. The Villas during some of the 1970s became less about wealth and more about depravity. The police new the area more for alcoholism and disturbances, with Demetrius living in a basic boarding house. The guy was clearly sick, with friends stating he started fearing vampires a year before his death. Maybe the squalor, memories of folktales of eastern europe, the 70s paranormal era and his movement when he was a child during the war gradually bore into his mind to create a melting pot of horror.
I'm guessing by the state of the roadway and the pavements that the council has never adopted them, but that they are to this day the common property of the house owners, who don't cooperate well enough to fund the upkeep of the common parts.

I’ve walked past this street countless times and I’ve always wondered about them so thank you for this!

And the council shouldn't "adopt" them either. Our money should be spent on our matters.
Beautiful houses nearly bought one last year but sold so fast
Why is the word "garlic" edited out?
Just incase it offended any vampires watching the video!
Were these a children’s home at some point?
looks like the pavement needs a lot of work!
So does the road
Pavements look dangerous damage done by cars parking on them.
Sorry from Stoke on Trent but where is the villas ? in Stoke or stafford
In Stoke (Penkhull/Boothen)
This house is for sale now.
A private road. And don't they know it.
