I have loved this song for decades and really appreciate that I now have a really good lesson on how to place this iconic / quintessential John Denver style intro!

@@gLustig60 I’m having a bear of a time with keeping my picky locked down for the pedal tone. Any suggestions? Or is it just a matter of time and a lot of repetition to build up a callous on that edge of my pinky? Thanks again for the tutorial! And thanks in advance for any advice.

@@aurorobous Even though I'm playing with the tip of my pinky in the video, it's not necessary. Try using more of the pad of your pinky, as if you're playing a little barre chord with it. Just find the place on your pinky that is less sensitive and get used to landing on that point. I don't have callouses and sometimes, if I land on the wrong spot, it really hurts! Let me know if that helps. G

What a shame. I was just getting ready to subscribe and then I saw the disrespect afforded to the President of the United States. Not a way to pick up subscribers. Sad bc you’re very good. I doubt JD would approve. Despite what you’d likely have to say about his politics, he was a VERY patriotic man. If you check all his interviews from England, you would discover that when asked his opinion on what would fix the US, he said “a businessman” for president. He also played for the Bush WH. One thing he knew was not to alienate his audience with insults. I hope it’s something you’ll learn if you want broad appeal. If not, keep on with what you’re doing. I’ll simply choose not to listen rather than “cancel” you like your brethren are so fond of doing. Best wishes.

Thanks for your comment. I have debated (with myself) whether it is a good idea to post my anti-Trump parodies or not. Apparently, it is not a good marketing strategy. However, John Denver was very outspoken, politically, especially when with the Mitchell Trio. And on John's own album, "Rhymes and Reasons" he recorded this Anti-Spiro Agnew ditty: th-cam.com/video/GDXxm2gu-_E/w-d-xo.html. "The Ballad of Richard Nixon," on the same album, has a track with no sound on it. I'd say that speaks volumes! I am actually not political. I judge everyone using the same criteria, and that is based on principles, integrity, honesty, kindness, altruism, and character. None of which President Trump exhibits. I'm disappointed that you accuse me of being a supporter of "cancel" culture, yet you state at the very beginning of your comment "I was just getting ready to subscribe...". Essentially, you DID cancel me. Not being the business man Trump is, I don't really mind. I post my lessons/tutorials free of charge simply to give something to people without a catch, a fee, or an expectation of anything in return. It boggles my mind that you no longer will listen to my lessons because you don't agree with my musical comments about a President who is saying the very political system you say I disrespect is conspiring against him. I've never been accused of any crime in my entire 60 year life, let alone fighting thousands of court cases to keep myself out of prison. Feel free to use my material to improve your guitar playing. I won't hold it against you if you do. I hope we can get beyond this silly phase. Be safe and well, my friend.

Hello Gordon, you played two of most iconic songs of John Denver. I loved to play these two songs and been trying to get the guitar part right the last 40 years so. I think you really the most accurate one on TH-cam. About the parody song of President Trump, in my view is really not necessary to take a mickie out of auch a brilliant politician. I am not American. But it's just so good to know that a President put his people before everything. No leaders in this whole world ever done something like this to its own people. You Americans are lucky to have someone so patriotic to lead your country. What did Obama do for America in 8 years ? Can you name one good thing ? Bush got America into a war with Iraq and so many American soldiers died for nothing. How many American now regret to vote cor Biden. This guy is going to bring a lot of harms to America. Just wait and see. Anyway, please carry on to do more John Denver songs. I suggest Darcy Farrow to begin with. Regards.

@@boyzinpain6814 Thank you for your thoughtful and insightful observations regarding the current state of affairs. It’s both a blessing and a curse to see someone from another country accurately assessing our sad state of affairs while underscoring how those brainwashed by a propagandist media in bed w the left view the world. And they don’t even know it bc they consume their “news” to the point of intoxication. I’ve found it’s fairly useless to debate them. Their own self-loathing has them debating themselves, completely immune to the fact they already lost. Their lofty virtual signaling has made it nearly impossible to break through to where they can even begin to employ critical thinking. JD would NEVER have been in support of censorship which is rampant right here even on this platform (they don’t even know that) nor would he have supported racism that if leftists knew history which they don’t given the liberal education they’ve received, they would know that the Dem party is the origin of it. And continuation of it. Facts don’t matter to them. Unless they’re “their” facts. They employ false and circular arguments to defend their nonsense and we have them to thank for the destruction of our once glorious country. Thank you very much for seeing the reality of our “deplorable” situation. It’s great to know we have friends around the world who see the truth. ❤️

All presidents and prime ministers are tools. Some are blunter and some are sharper. But they don't hold power of the country. You're here for maybe a 75-85 year jaunt on the planet then you're off to who knows where. So don't be too concerned with another person's political views and find what makes you joyful. Trump was a funny guy, but love the TH-cam Bad Lip-synching of him more!
Plus, the name of the channel says it's Gordon Lustig, and I think he decides what he wants to say...
