    Wow, absolutely the best breakdown of this song I have ever seen. Perfection. Thank you for sharing this.

    As you noted...he plays it on a 12 string live. But not teaching it in drop D? C'mon man...that's what makes the song so damn beautiful.

    “I love these words, don’t you? They’re fantastic!” You’re beard’s grey as mine, my Dude! You must remember the 1970’s golden age of radio when for a time this song was played several times an hour! These words aren’t fantastic. They’re iconic! 😁 But this is loving poke… great lesson. Thank you so much for making it.

    Thank you for your excellent, methodical lesson on this beautiful song. I’d also like to compliment you on your Blueridge guitar. I bought a cutaway, electric (c e acoustic) Blueridge acoustic guitar in 2007 at an antique shop in Nova Scotia, Canada. Mine has a deep rich tone, much like yours. I recently purchased a beautiful Taylor ce acoustic, but my Blueridge is still near and dear to me. I look forward to viewing more of your guitar lessons with your Blueridge featured prominently. Thank you

    Great tutorial. You explained this song very well. One note when JD plays then on his 12 string he uses drop D tuning. I believe its easier to do this when it's time for the G chord. Fingerpicking 12 is difficult. I use a 855 Taylor 12. Grabbing barre is harder on 12s also as the Bm. Great song. 40 year player. We should never touch of these great songs

      @ashfordwyrd7458 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      the F#m is the chord that really matters on, as he only has to barre the first three strings, and use his pinky and third fingers to fret the A and low E strings on the same fret... Note his G chord is 5x003x, and he plays the into D and Dsus chords at open position. The 3rd position line is played by a second guitar and a mandolin.

    I would be curious to know what is behind six “thumbs down” dislikes?!? But then I realized how anyone unable to appreciate one’s ability to share their time and talents, help others enjoy something as much as they, and in the process, do a damn fine job (thanks Hal!), is likely an unhappy person. So...I’m VERY grateful those six sad souls reduced their feelings to a non-verbal, meaningless “gesture.”

    • @quailstudios
      @quailstudios  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ha ha... I guess we can't please everyone. Thanks, Patrick, for your comment and support. Love it!

    • @gdfggggg

      Who cares if someone put a thumbs down? That’s their choice. Just enjoy the video.

    • @patrickbrain2464
      @patrickbrain2464 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Slashley gibbins who cares if someone is curious why our world has become bitter, negative, resentful, cowardly. I still don’t have an answer to my question regarding the “what” but you’ve made it more clear about the “who.” I’m sure the six people appreciate your advocacy! Per your helpful suggestion, I will now get back to the videos.

    • @gdfggggg
      @gdfggggg 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Patrick Brain you, yourself said it was ‘meaningless’. Some people don’t like the video and some people thumbs down just because they can, but most love the video.. everybody has the right to their own freedom of thought and actions which is a wonderful thing. The opposite to freedom is a terrible thing.

    • @patrickbrain2464
      @patrickbrain2464 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Slashley gibbins I’m puzzled how “curiosity” became a communist manifesto wherein I proposed a mandate that people think or agree in like manner?!? The point of my BENIGN intent was simply meant as a point of consideration; “what” about the video was so objectionable and if it is/was, why in the hell would that person stick around? I guess it’s now a luxury to the hide behind anonymity. I certainly didn’t expect a civic’s lesson about freedom. But since society is routinely educated and enlightened by poly-sci scholars like Lebron James, I shouldn’t be too surprised to experience the same through comment sections on social media.

    I saw a teaching on this song in a open G tuning and I saw him use that tuning in a video on you tube, I'm trying to recall that teaching but can't find it. The open cords are nice for the song but I truly would like to play it as I see him play it in open G as he plays it on the video. Can you help. Thanks

    • @quailstudios
      @quailstudios  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Andy, John Denver did not play this song in open G tuning. I was starting to write that "I don't really have an interest in doing a video teaching Annie's Song in open G tuning but if you learn how to play these chords in open G you will be on your way." But the more I think about it the more interested I get in working with an open G tuning. Let me think about it some more. Thanks. Hal

    • @andyvasquez1083
      @andyvasquez1083 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@quailstudios hello sir, yes he had played it in that tunning after I tuned my guitar to that tunning I played along with the video, It also made since to me because it was easier to play the cords that was moving on a twelve string and it sounded fuller. If interested I'll send the video of him playing in that tunning.
      Thanks,
      Enjoy your teachings
