      @@MD_ENTERTAINMENT Liverpool's possession of the ball after a throw-in has improve significantly after the coach came in.
      All respect to Nicol and all he did. But on this regard, he is just flat out wrong.
      Sure, he may not be teaching the players anything eye-opening.
      But let's face it, no coach can teach these world class players anything significantly "new".
      Coaching at this level is more about get the drills done right on a daily basis so that it becomes muscle memory.
      Could Klopp have done it himself? Probably.
      But the role of a boss is to delegate, not try to do everything himself. He is already doing alot, I don't see any issue with delegating away some work.
      And it worked!

      English Stacey 🙋🏽 So goals scored as a result of throw-ins by L’pool players are attributed to the club’s throw-in coach. Then who gets the credit when goals are scored as a result of throw-ins from players with no throw-in coaches. It’s nothing revolutionary really.

    • @warrenzevon4994
      @warrenzevon4994 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Chimera Gaming Liverpool went from around 30% retention rate from throw ins to 80% when the throw in coach came in. Nobody is claiming he is revolutionary but his presence brought more attention to a part of the game that isn’t often focused on. This isn’t fucking rocket science, and you don’t need to be a Liverpool fan to see in the statistics how it has helped, I’m a united fan I wouldn’t mind us getting this guy in for a couple sessions.

      I'm a lifetime Red (54 years and counting). A throw in is a part of the game just as much as any other. Why would you not train it and practice it? Winning is often about fine margins and if a throw in coach can earn the club a few more wins and points, then it's time that Steve Nicol spent more time gardening and less as a pundit. Good player but limited between his ears.

    But that's like saying they don't need Klopp because they know how to strike a ball.
    The guy has obviously helped create patterns and routines which help Liverpool keep possession more frequently. There is absolutely nothing wrong (actually id argue its a big positive and you should do it) with coming up with a few principles and specific patterns the players can follow.

All the players from the 80s glory days were not receptive to new ideas in modern football that Graeme Souness had successfully applied during his successful years at Rangers, especially when it came to dietary requirements. The problem is that senior players are still part of the very conservative approach that is in the football world. many good players dont question what is being done on the train ring field very much.sometimes it is even perturbed by the better players. Because they are in the team without having to be challenged as much. And I saw a lot of people not thinking about how they should throw in . Or that the basics of football is just something that you would know automatically. But from one coming outside the sport from another sport these things you dont know or can do automatically and sometimes these "natural" things are not being improved or is not as good as they could be and my experience is mostly on lower levels of football . But when I watch higher level football I saw a lot of the same patterns that impedes improvement.

    It's rare for me to agree with Stevie, but in this instance he is correct. He played at the very highest level, was player of the season in England, was a respected international and won domestic and European trophies. This so called throw in specialist is obviously bitter that he is being criticised and to aim such low shots shows a lack of class and respect. He isn't at all convincing when expressing himself so maybe he should just shut up and accept that he has won the equivalent of the football lottery in landing a job like this

      Keep an open mind and watch interviews of Thomas Gronnemark on TH-cam. It is absolutely insightful on what you can bring into the game just via throw-in and if your team can weaponize your throw-ins, your team can do wonders in a game of fine-margins.
