I like how games where random/stupid stuff happens are just "Meme" games. Everything is a meme now according to the internet.
I refer to these types of things as Lolzrandomz humour. I feel this sort of comedy needs to die, but if it is designed to fit the world and not just be funny, it can work. Like Alice in Wonderland.
"Meme" apparently doesn't even mean what it used to mean anymore. Like now, it's just any random funny picture with words on it, if my teenage sister is anything to go by. I tried to explain to her what internet memes originally were (and still are, it's just now the word means two things I guess) but had a hard time articulating it.

I see it as we have 3 meme eras, so far.
Underground era, when only a bunch of nerds knew about the concept of memes, Stuff like O RLY or some classic youtube poop stuff.
Bright era, when memes became popular. It was brief but was fun to find people outside the internet that knew about your meems and ragecomics and see a fandom building.
Edgy era. Current state of memes. Now everybody wants to meme cause it's the cool thing, so any semi-funny or polemic audiovisual content can be forced into a meme. Memes have also turned into an excuse to behave like a jerk.
