Considering how many times I've rewatched it, I can say that this full sauce had too many moments worth witnessing, some moments dragged on a VERY little bit, but the next great joke/moment was like 5 minutes apart from the last, it flows so well that you're amazed that 2 hours had passed

"There's a lot of abandoned plot threads" Honestly, I feel like that's kinda fitting for a game about Sponge. He gained nothing on his journey. He never acquired the meat he was looking for, and he never saved Princess Bleach - he got to avenge her, but that's a cold comfort. Notice how he hung his head at the end of the fight. There was nothing to celebrate. The only victory he attained here was getting out of that hellish Meatscape alive, but is that really a victory? Not only did he gain nothing, he actually just lost one more thing he held dear. I feel like that's just Sponge's life in a nutshell.

God, this is actually depressing when you actually think that sponge's only attribute and purpose in life is to soak up all the depressing and negative energy in his world
Perhaps, through looking at the journey of Sponge, we can realize that what actually mattered was the adventure he went on and the experiences he found, rather than some grand heroic purpose that Sponge was supposed to attain. Sometimes life just drops some plot threads, and like Sponge, we can just go forwards to the next broken plot thread and appreciate what parts of the thread we got to participate in.
Sponge's entire journey was pointless. His main goal was to find a source of meat for Mario and Luigi, yet later in the hack Mario specifically says their diet doesn't allow them to eat meat. This entire journey was probably just Mario trying to get rid of Sponge.
You sorta have to wonder what this game would've looked like if this game was made for a different streamer, say Joel or Jerma for example. I'd imagine their versions being far more tongue-and-cheek. Heck, what would YOUR version of this game like, assuming you yourself started streaming? What games would be represented? What odd quirks and characters would be included? Would the base game be some other retro game? If I ever start streaming, I'm for sure going to immitate the streaming styles of Vinny, Joel, Jerma, etc. Who knows what type of wacky shit would occur?
All of this was incredibly breathtaking and clever, but when Sponge got stuck in the blue pit and then the cutscene with pissing Mario happened, I knew the creator was a goddamn genius.
Honestly, I kind of consider Bad Ending 1 the best ending for the game, all things considered. I mean, he at least has Meat as a wife of sorts for his sake.

Honestly SMW hacking has gotten so much better over the past years. With what SMWC gives you with their resources you can make some really amazing stuff, and if your crazy enough to learn ASM for it, you can easily get elements on the engine to bend to your will. A friend compared it to the levels of DOOM WAD's

Actually, the Bleach thread did kind of get abandoned. I'm reading a thread posted by the creator of this hack, and his response to the question of "what happened to Bleach" was as follows. "Hey, thanks! honestly I can't say. I ran pretty low on ideas near the end, but also, I think it's good if I leave that up to you guys " So either she's dead, or she's still down there somewhere. We'll never know because the creator doesn't plan to make a followup or anything.

Somebody has good tastes in SMW custom music and custom sprites and holy crap they actually went hard on custom everything. Even HDMA effects and custom sprite work! Its pretty dang impressive. Getting stuff like custom samples to play is from what I remember is stupidly hard, let alone the custom shit like the Earthbound battle.

Well that's the concept of a ROMHack really, basically you take the base game and add/modify elements of it to your liking, capable of making an entirely different game but it still is using the same engine A good example imo is Pokémon CrystalClear which took the base Crystal game and removed all limitations making it essentially an open world Pokémon game allowing you to challenge gyms and the different areas at your leisure, basically what makes them a ROMHack is that they are a game made by fans running on a base game

Every single song choice was on point. The color design, mood theming of levels and amount of effort in the spriting is impeccable. The levels are carefully tested and the challenge is just the right level of enjoyable (aside from the will section which for the joke is absolutely fine) without angering the player. The complete game genre changes built into a romhack base are just insane icing on the cake. Even without understanding the references the game is enjoyable and can stand on its own. This is the bar all Vinesauce themed romhacks, let alone fangames from now on need to shoot for. Eminus is a true professional.
This game literally feels like a fever dream, like if one day i watch 72 hours of Vinesauce non stop and i get in some kinda coma, i would dream all of this up, then wake up and realize i am dreaming, i look around and become saddened, then take a piss, this time i wake up and realize i am dreaming.

This game is unironically *_fantastic._* Everything about this is great, they didn't overuse any jokes, there were a lot of funny parts, the game itself is actually really well made and rather challenging, the story (yes there's a story) is great, the fact that Sponge didn't accomplish anything and lost more than he gained was a great metaphor for Sponge. This game should take top spot in the Vinesauce game hall of fame. If there's any fan games better than this please give me a link, i must see it.

Their latest update was 10 days ago as of this reply, and according to a reddit ask from a year ago, the team works on the game daily. A lot of love and passion seems to be going into this product, and since it's pretty high quality for not being a big-studio game, I hadn't expected it to be finished so soon. :)

There's something I really love about the final boss fight with the bipedal Meat. Something about the fact that you fight it on a totally Mario-standard mushroom stalk platform, with recognizable vines hanging from above, against the backdrop of a cloudy sky, plus how Meat's form *_almost_* seems like it could fit in in a real Mario game-- It almost feels like it was Meat's goal all along to "evolve" into a Form You Are Comfortable With in order to integrate into the magical world it's only ever been able to experience as an onlooker, an outsider, but to allow him to do so would be too risky. Like if you had a story about someone delving into the lovecraftian guts of an eldritch abomination, and at the very end the final obstacle before they could escape and return home was the abomination incarnated into an uncanny humanoid form. It's almost tragic, in a way, like Meat doesn't even mean to hurt anybody and maybe just wants to coexist and live among us, but his existence and morality is too alien for it to ever be possible. OOOOORRRRRRR I'm just reading way too far into this. At the end of the day it's just a crazy-polished meme hack, after all
I remember one time a long time ago I emailed Vinny about making a game and what he'd want in a fangame. And he replied he'd love a platformer like Mario. I'm so happy he got exactly what he wanted
Even though I'm sure there is no story and it's mostly a collection of inside jokes, if I had to gather a story from this it would be something like this: Sponge took the opportunity to get meat as an excuse to finally be something more than just a meme and an inside joke. He wanted an actual adventure. But, Meat, the representation of all Vinesauce inside jokes, consumed him. Leading to him both being hurt and helped by memes. The Mario Early Years segment is him having a mental breakdown, telling himself that Mario and Luigi don't eat meat, leading him to give up on his journey to get meat. He wakes up in the town of Twitch Chat. With this new found hope that he doesn't need to be tied to Mario and Luigi to be his own hero, he goes to save his Princess. Finally it feels like he has something to call his own game and his own thing to stand out that isn't him being sad. But once he progresses through the castle, the memes catch up with him once more, he fight them off and runs away from them as best as he can, but it is when he arrives in the twisted upside down dimension that he realizes taht he's become everything he hates. Meat. After time he finally confronts his Princess and his love. But she is eaten by Meat and he is forced to kill him, in hopes that he can get away from being an inside joke. But, as Meat dies and Sponge rises to the heavens on a giant mushroom, he realizes taht he truly can't get away from his status as a meme, that all this was for nothing, and that he is nothing more than a sad joke. Sponge isn't dead at the end, he doesn't want to die, he simply wants to not exist for a while.
The first time I ever saw Meat was in the OE Cake stream. And without any context, I’ll admit: I was mildly disturbed. What was this weird, disembodied, skinned bird head, and how did _Vinny_ know this thing? But of course, as I got caught up on the Meat lore, and more information was found, I grew to see Meat as the lovable meaty earthworm he is. Never thought I’d see Meat portrayed as I once perceived him ever again... but this proved me wrong. This is just the perfect tribute in every way. The atmosphere is perfectly surreal, the spritework is exquisite, the gimmicks and different game styles are _incredibly_ well-done, and all of it is complimented by both well-known gags and deep cut references running rampant throughout, in perfect harmony. Some of my personal highlights are the corrupted Twitch Town, the entirety of the Mario’s Early Years segment, and Vinerizon, through some unspeakable black magic, _finally being competently portrayed as a villain._ Shame he never got a boss fight to his name, but nevertheless, the ‘Rizon and He Thicc have finally been separated, and _damn_ if this wasn’t the best way to do it. You’ll have to excuse me for the essay, but darn it, as a Vinesauce fan, this hack really got to me, and deserves recognition for all the effort Eminus put into making it. It may have taken years, but finally, at long last, we have a hack worthy of proceeding Super Sponge Bros.

This is what vinesauce flavored acid tabs probably look like. Honestly, putting aside the technical wonder this hack is, the sprite work practically gushes with the designers love. Music choice, execution, areas, it's all the best of the best rolled up in one hack. Edit: The meat symbolizes death. The lore with sponge is that he couldn't save his princess because by the time he arrived she was already dead. The one in this game was also seen lying on the ground prone. She was already dead, and the meat coming out of the ground and consuming her was the symbol for the inevitability of death. Sponge also willingly went into meat, perhaps implying that sponge was dead not physically, but inside, which ties in to official vinesauce lore that sponge soaks up all of the sadness in the mushroom kingdom. That's also the secret to Mario and Luigi's oddly consistently youthful appearance, because they don't eat meat and thus remain as unkillable corporate entities. When baby yoshi is fed chat members, yoshi turns into meat, who represents death. The chat town becomes murderous because of their killed brethren, which is why they want to kill sponge.

Do you mean the 7 GRAND DAD game by RedFire that featured bootleg characters? I find that's more of a homage to retro bootleg games in general, that's what makes it so timeless/strong, it makes very little use of vinesauce/siivagunner memes. Much like this game, it's also extremely well done, I'm not sure which I like more, maybe Grand Dad just because it feels more like a whole product and has a bit more polish to it.

For years I had no idea this was an entire game of in jokes about Vinny. I thought it was just all surreal horror. I had no idea the worm was a preexisting character and it terrified me ever since discovering this hack.
I've been playing SMW romhacks for a least a decade. You'd think I would've seen everything at this point. But this, this is some next level shit, and I absolutely *LOVE* it. EDIT: I found a Pepperoni Secret. Hint: It's located somewhere before the Mario Pissing room.

I just realized the full sauce has more views then the edited version on the regular channel. Historic.
Considering how many times I've rewatched it, I can say that this full sauce had too many moments worth witnessing, some moments dragged on a VERY little bit, but the next great joke/moment was like 5 minutes apart from the last, it flows so well that you're amazed that 2 hours had passed

Honestly, I feel like that's kinda fitting for a game about Sponge. He gained nothing on his journey. He never acquired the meat he was looking for, and he never saved Princess Bleach - he got to avenge her, but that's a cold comfort. Notice how he hung his head at the end of the fight. There was nothing to celebrate.
The only victory he attained here was getting out of that hellish Meatscape alive, but is that really a victory? Not only did he gain nothing, he actually just lost one more thing he held dear. I feel like that's just Sponge's life in a nutshell.

Perhaps, through looking at the journey of Sponge, we can realize that what actually mattered was the adventure he went on and the experiences he found, rather than some grand heroic purpose that Sponge was supposed to attain. Sometimes life just drops some plot threads, and like Sponge, we can just go forwards to the next broken plot thread and appreciate what parts of the thread we got to participate in.
At 1:18:13 the reversed sound clip here is Vinny saying "When he got there, the princess was dead." Vinny guessed right.

Sponge's entire journey was pointless.
His main goal was to find a source of meat for Mario and Luigi, yet later in the hack Mario specifically says their diet doesn't allow them to eat meat. This entire journey was probably just Mario trying to get rid of Sponge.
Not only that, but Sponge didn't get the meat and princess Bleach got eaten by Meat, so he ended up fucking up on a pointless journey.

With what SMWC gives you with their resources you can make some really amazing stuff, and if your crazy enough to learn ASM for it, you can easily get elements on the engine to bend to your will. Well that's the concept of a ROMHack really, basically you take the base game and add/modify elements of it to your liking, capable of making an entirely different game but it still is using the same engine
A good example imo is Pokémon CrystalClear which took the base Crystal game and removed all limitations making it essentially an open world Pokémon game allowing you to challenge gyms and the different areas at your leisure, basically what makes them a ROMHack is that they are a game made by fans running on a base game

@@kirbyfreakyt4695 That's where the coincidence ends I'm afraid. My issue is Ulcerative Colitis that refused to be medicated. It cropped up back in May 2020 and a few months ago they finally decided to just remove the stupid thing.
Every single song choice was on point. The color design, mood theming of levels and amount of effort in the spriting is impeccable. The levels are carefully tested and the challenge is just the right level of enjoyable (aside from the will section which for the joke is absolutely fine) without angering the player. The complete game genre changes built into a romhack base are just insane icing on the cake. Even without understanding the references the game is enjoyable and can stand on its own.
This is the bar all Vinesauce themed romhacks, let alone fangames from now on need to shoot for. Eminus is a true professional.

This game is unironically *_fantastic._* Everything about this is great, they didn't overuse any jokes, there were a lot of funny parts, the game itself is actually really well made and rather challenging, the story (yes there's a story) is great, the fact that Sponge didn't accomplish anything and lost more than he gained was a great metaphor for Sponge. This game should take top spot in the Vinesauce game hall of fame.

Their latest update was 10 days ago as of this reply, and according to a reddit ask from a year ago, the team works on the game daily. A lot of love and passion seems to be going into this product, and since it's pretty high quality for not being a big-studio game, I hadn't expected it to be finished so soon. :)

There's something I really love about the final boss fight with the bipedal Meat.
Something about the fact that you fight it on a totally Mario-standard mushroom stalk platform, with recognizable vines hanging from above, against the backdrop of a cloudy sky, plus how Meat's form *_almost_* seems like it could fit in in a real Mario game-- It almost feels like it was Meat's goal all along to "evolve" into a Form You Are Comfortable With in order to integrate into the magical world it's only ever been able to experience as an onlooker, an outsider, but to allow him to do so would be too risky.
Like if you had a story about someone delving into the lovecraftian guts of an eldritch abomination, and at the very end the final obstacle before they could escape and return home was the abomination incarnated into an uncanny humanoid form. It's almost tragic, in a way, like Meat doesn't even mean to hurt anybody and maybe just wants to coexist and live among us, but his existence and morality is too alien for it to ever be possible.

Even though I'm sure there is no story and it's mostly a collection of inside jokes, if I had to gather a story from this it would be something like this:
Sponge took the opportunity to get meat as an excuse to finally be something more than just a meme and an inside joke. He wanted an actual adventure. But, Meat, the representation of all Vinesauce inside jokes, consumed him. Leading to him both being hurt and helped by memes. The Mario Early Years segment is him having a mental breakdown, telling himself that Mario and Luigi don't eat meat, leading him to give up on his journey to get meat. He wakes up in the town of Twitch Chat. With this new found hope that he doesn't need to be tied to Mario and Luigi to be his own hero, he goes to save his Princess. Finally it feels like he has something to call his own game and his own thing to stand out that isn't him being sad. But once he progresses through the castle, the memes catch up with him once more, he fight them off and runs away from them as best as he can, but it is when he arrives in the twisted upside down dimension that he realizes taht he's become everything he hates. Meat. After time he finally confronts his Princess and his love. But she is eaten by Meat and he is forced to kill him, in hopes that he can get away from being an inside joke. But, as Meat dies and Sponge rises to the heavens on a giant mushroom, he realizes taht he truly can't get away from his status as a meme, that all this was for nothing, and that he is nothing more than a sad joke. Sponge isn't dead at the end, he doesn't want to die, he simply wants to not exist for a while.

The first time I ever saw Meat was in the OE Cake stream. And without any context, I’ll admit: I was mildly disturbed. What was this weird, disembodied, skinned bird head, and how did _Vinny_ know this thing? But of course, as I got caught up on the Meat lore, and more information was found, I grew to see Meat as the lovable meaty earthworm he is.
Never thought I’d see Meat portrayed as I once perceived him ever again... but this proved me wrong.
This is just the perfect tribute in every way. The atmosphere is perfectly surreal, the spritework is exquisite, the gimmicks and different game styles are _incredibly_ well-done, and all of it is complimented by both well-known gags and deep cut references running rampant throughout, in perfect harmony.
Some of my personal highlights are the corrupted Twitch Town, the entirety of the Mario’s Early Years segment, and Vinerizon, through some unspeakable black magic, _finally being competently portrayed as a villain._ Shame he never got a boss fight to his name, but nevertheless, the ‘Rizon and He Thicc have finally been separated, and _damn_ if this wasn’t the best way to do it.
You’ll have to excuse me for the essay, but darn it, as a Vinesauce fan, this hack really got to me, and deserves recognition for all the effort Eminus put into making it. It may have taken years, but finally, at long last, we have a hack worthy of proceeding Super Sponge Bros.

Honestly, putting aside the technical wonder this hack is, the sprite work practically gushes with the designers love. Music choice, execution, areas, it's all the best of the best rolled up in one hack.
Edit: The meat symbolizes death. The lore with sponge is that he couldn't save his princess because by the time he arrived she was already dead. The one in this game was also seen lying on the ground prone. She was already dead, and the meat coming out of the ground and consuming her was the symbol for the inevitability of death. Sponge also willingly went into meat, perhaps implying that sponge was dead not physically, but inside, which ties in to official vinesauce lore that sponge soaks up all of the sadness in the mushroom kingdom. That's also the secret to Mario and Luigi's oddly consistently youthful appearance, because they don't eat meat and thus remain as unkillable corporate entities. When baby yoshi is fed chat members, yoshi turns into meat, who represents death. The chat town becomes murderous because of their killed brethren, which is why they want to kill sponge.

Do you mean the 7 GRAND DAD game by RedFire that featured bootleg characters? I find that's more of a homage to retro bootleg games in general, that's what makes it so timeless/strong, it makes very little use of vinesauce/siivagunner memes.
Much like this game, it's also extremely well done, I'm not sure which I like more, maybe Grand Dad just because it feels more like a whole product and has a bit more polish to it.

For years I had no idea this was an entire game of in jokes about Vinny. I thought it was just all surreal horror. I had no idea the worm was a preexisting character and it terrified me ever since discovering this hack.
