I agree this is very good quality recording and I am glad that I hear many shows with Johnny Olson because I still miss his voice and he has a very unique voice and he was a very good announcer
The Monte Carlo was a nice looking car. I remember my boyfriend let me drive his brand new 1974 Monte Carlo to go shopping. He told me "Don't come back if you have an accident."
That's so amazing that she won $28k in 1978. The biggest winner of The 70s nighttime version of The Price is Right was from the following season (79/80), And that contestant won $35,142 in prizes.
@@TheEggplantThatAteChicago I remember the other one with the pool, jet ski and Horizon Day Cruiser speed boat. That was over $23k. I am thinking this was a $7k custom swimming pool.
Of course, syndicated episodes from 1974 to 1986 have no double showcase win rule, unlike daytime. From 1977 to 1980, any contestant who bids right on the nose in item up for bids won $100. It was $500 in 1985-86.
@@paulnguyen8910 I have yet to see any nighttime episodes from 1977-1980 that did have the $100 bonus for a perfect bid let alone proof. If we see one that's exactly right, we'll find out for sure if the clangers went off or not.
The show had moved to cbs owned stations in LA and Chicago for sure, not certain about Philly and St. Louis. I believe NY was blocked by 2 on the Town, which for them was a weekly
@@JasonDelarosa2000 Dennis James and Mark Goodson. Both made a pitchfilm prior to TPIR's second coming existence and they played a mock version of what would become "The Grocery Game" which borrowed elements from another game show, "Let's Make A Deal". Also in the pitchfilm is Dennis James himself hosting the daytime version of LMAD while Monty Hall was on vacation (that episode along with all others featuring James has never reran in any case due to the low monetary offerings on the Big Deal which were between $1500 - $5000 at the time).
Did you change your name from markyyy4real? Or is that name used for another forum. I've seen a ton of your price is right videos and I was looking at the one 5313D because I wanted to listen for the guy Gregory last name. I saw it on the barker era and I thought I heard his last name but forgot it watching more games. I went to internet archives and saw markyyy4real uploaded it but I thought one of my earbuds was not paired correctly. I listened to it with three different sets and on all three the right bud didn't work. So it seemed obvious that when you recorded it that the right speaker wasn't on 😂. But your vids have been very informative. Bob was hypersexual, was a fiend for standing ovations, would jokingly berate contestants, of course I think he got some information about contestants pre show. Some of the things he thought of to say had to be prepared. But not taking away that he was very extemporaneous. Love to encourage women to strip, would tell audience since they didn't stand when he entered the stage that they wouldn't get prizes. I remember he told Charleen Jameson that she laid around her house in a robe with a dusty house preparing for her Soaps because she didn't spend that time watching the price is right. And you could see the big wheel would slow down a lot when they wanted $1000 winners 👀
Aired at 7:30 PM on WNBC. Then at 8:00 PM the New York Yankees played the Kansas City Royals in Game 4 of the ALCS on WABC and won the AL Pennant that night.
TPIR had a 10 year contract with Zimman Furs starting in 1972. Once it expired, no more animal fur coats were ever offered on TPIR again which obviously pleased Bob as he was passionate about animals as his late wife Dorothy Jo was also.
This is a remarkably high quality recording for 1978! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much for posting this one
There's just something a little bit more special and exciting about these nighttime shows...The loudness, the music, the audience... Just wow!

we're finally seeing a few more Barker syndicated Barker episodes now, as until recently only the final one had been out there
Another 1980 episode (299N) was also made available. (Hint: It may not had any fur coats on display, but sure had leather jackets and accessories.)
Thank you for uploading this RARE nighttime episode!!!
I was 3 weeks old when this episode aired

I wonder if the full length mink coat or custom swimming pool cost more than the Caprice Classic
@@jdayala-wright8875 That same pool was in another extremely expensive showcase, so I suspect it did.

More nighttime syndicated Price,please!
@@GeorgeMaster-xg7lg Especially ones hosted by late Dennis James, in episodes 180-195N, but not 193 which there already is.
Her winnings....$28,454! WOW!
Her winnings were over the CBS $25,000 limit used at the time this show aired in 1978.
There was a $35K winnings limit then.

Nighttime TPIR aired on Mondays at 6:30pm on Channel 5 WMAQ in Chicago which is NBC owned!
@@KT72273 I stand corrected. I will stake my life on KNXT though.
It aired on WPVI 6 on Wednesday nights at 7:30 from 1972 to 1980
And KTRK - ABC Channel 13 at 18:30 Mondays, in Houston, TX.
Bob didn't realize that contestant Dayna was correcting Johnny's mispronunciation of her name.
Yeah and he DID mispronounce her name(Danya). She corrected him(Dayna) and he said that’s what he said🙄. Lying Bob. And then he got snotty with her.
Very nice for an aircheck! Very nice!!
How long did it air as a night time show? I do not remember it.
Bob was great on Nighttime TPIR, but I miss Dennis James.
He and Mark Goodson were the ones responsible for making The Price Is Right work.

I lived in Maplewood, NJ from 1979-1985.
There was no CBS Trailblazer at the end, so I'm guessing this still aired on NBC in maakets.
Syndicated thru Viacom Enterprises, now CBS Media Ventures, in conjunction with Fremantle.
You can hear the director audio in little bits if you listen. Those hot mics were amazing,. They picked up everything.
That was the late Marc Breslow.

fur mink coats and cars on todays showcase would be over $50k
This was Theresa’s night. Two trips, two coats, some clothing, and a Caprice Classic.
0:07 Fred Facey announcing.
I bet Bob Barker scores a lot back then because he's always surrounded by ladies, plus he's old.
Polyester abounds
wow 2 fur coats.
@markyy this is a great fnd
Fur coats have always been a major nightmare for animals since the cavemen years.
I'm sure both Bob and Holly objected to the fur coats (if not then later on).
Well the show banned it by 1982.
