I remember walking into a game store in late 1999. I glanced at the TV and saw a football game being played. I remember thinking, "oh I wonder who is playing?" Then I focused my eyes and realized it wasn't a real game - it was a video game on the Dreamcast. That was probably the biggest next-gen leap I had seen up to that point. I remember standing there in shock just staring at it. The future had arrived right before my eyes.
It was an insane leap. I had a similar experience but with NBA 2k. My mind was blown. I literally though we had peaked. How could it get better than that lol. It was a really fun time to be a gamer for sure. Hell, I'm pretty sure we are close to the same age, we grew up during an awesome time in general. Cheers to that!
@@GamingOffTheGrid i was personally born in 93 but didnt get a Dreamcast until later on after it had already been discontinued. My family didnt have a lot of money to put towards video games as a kid so i didnt even manage to get my first n64 until about year 2000 when they had really come down in price. I eventually found a Dreamcast at gamestop one day used for 20 bucks around 2005ish (cant exactly remember but it was right before most of the gamestops first stopped selling a lot of the older systems like the Sega Genesis in the mid 2000s). I had sold it a couple years later because i needed the money (probably for something stupid) and honestly regret it nowadays. It was basically in mint condition and the color hadnt even yellowed.
I have a different story. I walked into a FuncoLand and saw stacks and stacks of DC consoles all marked at $49.99 with a yellow sticker. It actually made me sad. 😔
I still have my Dreamcast that I originally purchased back in Jan 2001. My main reason for loving this system is of course the arcade ports. Crazy Taxi, Gauntlet Legends, Marvel vs. Capcom 1 & 2, Street Fighter III, and more. This and the Saturn (Japan) were pure gold when it came to arcade games.
I remember back in the day (in my country) some "arcade" machines had an actual Dreamcast inside, it was that powerful. Arcades were the Dreamworld for most of us in the 90s and the Dreamcast was the one that allowed us to live that dream in our home.
Virtua Tennis was amazing. I played that game for hours. They mastered an extremely addictive tennis game. I never knew that was a thing until I played that game.
Hell ya it was and is. They nailed it. It could be the last tennis game we ever play and we'd be perfectly fine with that :). Thanks a ton for watching. Cheers!
Ya this is a luxury console in 2021 LOL. I’m honestly here for the systems so I’d be happy with a gdemu setup but I understand the need for physical media. Your Xbox buying guide put me over the edge and I ordered a modded Xbox on eBay with the entire og Xbox library on an internal 2tb HDD!!
Dang man lol! How much did that run you if you don't mind me asking. We've been kicking around the idea a little bit of getting ours modded or buying one. Cheers!
Ironically I just bought my first Dreamcast this year, after playing one at a friend's house on launch day back in 1999. Always liked it, but always talked myself out of buying one. Sure wish I hadn't waited, it hurts the wallet! Enjoying it so far, and just keep looking for cheap deals. Thanks for a great video guys. Really enjoy your stuff, been watching and just subscribed. Keep up the good work!
Hell ya man! Ya it's expensive but.......it's cheaper than a PS5. And if you are playing it and enjoying it than that's all that matters. Thanks a ton for watching and the support. Much appreciated. Cheers!
We've worked together a ton. Over 300 videos and countless shows together in our band. Lots of practice. Our first vids didn't flow like this lol. Cheers!
@@GamingOffTheGrid They still make games for the Dreamcast even if they aren't licensed by Sega (Homebrew). Sturmwind (Shoot 'em up), Arcade Racing Legends, Xenocider are examples of the homebrew scene. Check them out guys!
The Dreamcast! Out of all the launch systems I participated in, the Dreamcast holds the most nostalgia for me. I was in the 6th grade and traded in my PS1 for this awesome machine. The sounds, the graphics, the Games. From Sonic, Sega Bass Fishing 2 to Crazy Taxi and Zombie Revenge, House of the Dead and Blue Stinger. The Resident Evil series, Dino Hunter. So many good games, but the "focus" to Xbox, Ps2 and the Cube came quick the following year and again I made a trade. I quickly bought another a few years later though when I worked at Eb Games!
Hell ya! Right there with you on this experience. The Dreamcast was the first console I bought with my own money and I was obsessed with it. But like you mention, in the blink of an eye I was on to the next. Thanks for watching. Cheers!
I bought this as my first console too after my uncle rented one at launch. I couldn't believe the quality of games. And then I discovered the homebrew community and it was the tightest community ever. I'll never forget this era
This was a great system. I had no regrets buying the Dreamcast when it was new. I didn't wait for the PS2. Had some really great games. Way ahead of it's time. I was a Sega fanboy from Genesis to Dreamcast. Yes, even Sega CD and Saturn.
Dreamcast has quickly become one of my favorite consoles to collect for! I know you guys like golfing games, Tee Off is is pretty fun and actually kind of cheap game. Similar to hot shots. Definitely worth checking out if you don’t have it already.
We don't have that one. We have a lot of holes in our DC collection for sure. It's a decent collection but there is a lot more games we'd like to get at some point for sure. Cheers!
Even though the PS2 was coming out the following year of the Dreamcast release i went with the Dreamcast sure the system only lasted 2 years but the games were amazing and still holds up very well to this day Sega put everything into the system.
Same boat my friend. I eventually got a PS2 but I was the kid in school telling all the PS2 freaks that the Dreamcast was better :). Thanks a ton for watching. Cheers!
Great video! I completely missed the boat on buying up cheap Dreamcast games, but I'm very likely gonna start a nice small baby collection this year regardless. In the meantime, I'm gonna get my old DC completely modded and hooked up with an ODE (laser died years ago), while my GF keeps her DC stock. Can take my time and collect games slowly afterwards!
I used to have one when it first came out. Remember playing 18 wheeler, and ready 2 rumble. I'm after one for nostalgia reasons..plus it's a cool looking console..and good ish games..
Absolutely!!!! Sega Dreamcast is STILL OUTSTANDING to this very day. I still have mine from Christmas 1999 and it still work. That was the first system for me that was “Love at first sight,” when I played Ready 2 Rumble Boxing at a Best Buy in Raleigh, NC in September 1999 and I was thinking to myself, “Sega is back!!!”
Hell ya man! Love hearing people's stories about this type of stuff. We actually just fired up Ready 2 Rumble a few months back for a PS2 episode we were working on :). Dreamcast was epic. Hell, all of Gen 6 consoles were epic for that matter. It was an awesome time to be a gamer. Cheers!
Coming from the Sega Saturn, I ended up getting a Dreamcast at launch. I remember using my tuition college money to get one. I had so much memories with this console. I ended up getting another DC as a xmas gift in 2021. I have 2 DC consoles now at US console and a Japanese consoles.
I didn't buy a dreamcast until around 2 years after it was discontinued. Since that time I've owned around 150 games for it. Although the library is small there truly are enough good games to warrant a purchase in 2021. Plus there are many third party developers ( Josh Prod) that have come out with several good games in the last few years for the Dreamcast. Dreamcast still rocks.
Dude I bought a Dreamcast today in pristine condition. Im super excited to start collecting for this machine, as a really sweet looking one has been eluding me, untill today.
I added one to my collection over the summer and had loads of fun on it. Great arcade ports, awesome light gun games, and the RPGs were pretty good. The poor little fella
LOL! Poor little feller. It was a great console. At the time when it was being discontinued I didn't understand it. I loved mine. NFL 2k2 and NBA 2k2 were epic that year and then it just fizzled out. Funny thing is I used to argue with my friends that it was better than the PS2 :). Thanks for watching and cheers to the Dreamcast!
My first time going through Shenmue at 14-15yrs of age, was a timeless, Memorable Experience unlike any other I had experienced in gaming up to that point!! The DreamCast is like the “High school Sweetheart” that got away… Some Games I love: 1.Shenmue 2.Resident Evil Code Veronica 3.Sega Rally Championship 4.Sonic Adventure1&2 5.Power Stone 6.4X4 evolution 7.Metropolis Street Racer 8.Crazy Taxi 9.Skies of Arcadia 10.Grandia 11.NFL 2K1 12.NFL Blitz 13.Tony Hawks Pro Skater2 14.Seaman 15.BleemCast GT2? I could’ve continued on with all the RE titles but they were just upscaled ports so.. Great Ports, I just had them all on Ps1..
great list of games of there. shenmue is definitely a classic. alot of those games play best on the dreamcast compared to the other consoles they are on
Been meaning to play my Dreamcast recently, and this video did it for me. Time to get groovy with my favorite Jet Grind Radio! I'm so happy to see you guys love that game as much as I do. How could you not with that funkadelic soundtrack!?
The sega dreamcast came out when I was 5 years old after I moved from Russia to st Paul Minnesota in 1999 I remember a little bit of the dreamcast I got mine for $50 back in 2019 and then I got my online kit for the dreamcast back in December 2019 even a friend of mine who I call him my brother gave Me phantasy star online v2 for my birthday back in 2020 this system is alot of fun. Best regards Nikita.K
Woah it's crazy how expensive Dreamcast has gotten. I have my original Dreamcast from my childhood and then when I was in high school I bought a second one, which was a rev 2 model. Then maybe 6 years ago I got a black sports one at a great deal. I was also able to buy 2 white ones back when they were affordable and gifted on each to my siblings. Dreamcast was something we all grew up with. Great video dudes. Hope more people can get their hands on this beautiful console soon.
Congrats, that's awesome! I just gifted my younger brother's old 360 wireless controllers and Gears of War to my ex-wife, I'd rather see someone get some use out of it!
Picked one up today with 34 games and box! Just watched this video thanks for the info! I got lucky, paid 100$ potential value is around 1000$. Wasn't looking to collect for this currently but now I'm intrigued
Just realized I watch this video for a second time just now and commented some things that I had commented when I watch this video a few months back!? That’s how you know it is an Awesome video either way!
I had one on launch but sold it many moons again. I bought one again this year, looking to do SD mod on it so I can have the full library 🙌🏽 great arcade machine and holds up today. You guys told me about zombie revenge, awesome game!
It has to be put in context - You could only see the Sega NAOMI games at an arcade, usually really expensive to play, so to have the same games at home was beyond mind blowing..
Dreamcast is the Gold Standard. It's still almost unbelievable that people let it sit on the shelf to rot in that era. I bought it at Launch and then 2 years later on Amazon they were selling for $39.99 Brand New. I remember buying two extra consoles cause they were so cheap its still hard to believe living thru that era that people slept. Good Work Dudes.
Favorite console of all time!! I own 6 of these bad boys … 2 no longer able to read disc that I got when EB Games was still a store (electronic boutique) and the other at Best Buy, 1 that has only been turned on no more than 10 time’s (maybe?) I traded a SEGA Saturn for, 1 custom European moded system, 1 Japanese that is still in grand edition (both purchased on EBay). Tons of VMU’s, and a massive collection of games. Pleased to see people doing videos in this era of next-Gen gaming.
In this era of gaming…I will always go back to the older generation of gaming such as (Sega anything , NEOGEO, PS1-PS2, Xbox, GameCube…) I love it all!!
Still have my launch dreamcast hooked up and it still runs fine. Its still my favourite system. Marvel vs capcom 2 and Street fighter alpha 3 eat so many hours into gaming nights here. So many awesome arcade games. Did you guys ever play WWF Royal rumble? Its a bit simplistic, but amazing fun in 4 player. It is getting expensive to collect for, but thankfully this is one that I kept hold of when I collected for it during its run!
XBOX was kinda the DC 2. But yes, we need SEGA back on the scene for sure. Things have gotten very formulaic as of late for sure. Thanks for watching this oldie. Cheers!
First time watching your channel, I love both the section on the Dreamcast and the beer!! Unfortunately I live in the uk so won’t be trying the beer any time soon, gutting! I had a Dreamcast back in the day and for the life of me I don’t know what happened to it. My wife got me one for my birthday last year and the nostalgia has been brilliant. I managed to picked up a brand new copy of jet grind radio from Amazon for like $25 which I found incredible because the Dreamcast market is expensive over here too but I’m glad to be back in the game!
Very cool! Glad you found us and enjoyed the vid. Hell of a deal on Jet Grind. Dreamcast market is nuts over here too. Love the console though. Cheers!
"...It's thinking." I love the Dreamcast. I knew one guy who had one (one of those guys who had everything). I was P.C. Master Race at the time but seeing it made want one. I got one final like 4-5 Years ago and it blew me away. I understand what happened to Sega and how they just ran out of money but how this thing failed is beyond me. It has one of the strongest gaming libraries for any system. I've yet to play a bad game on it. I'm right there with you on wanting the black sports one. Also, sadly, have to agree with your overall assessment. I got like a dozen or so games for it but what some of them are worth now like one game is equal to what I paid for all of them. It's a little funny looking back. I think I paid $25 for Skies of Arcadia and thought I overpaid for it. Ended up being worth it, because the game is amazing, but if only my past self knew what I know now. But man, I'm looking at my collection right now with stuff like Crazy Taxi, Power Stone, Record of Lodos War and Berserk among others and want to hook my Dreamcast up right now (my Sega CD is currently hooked up).
One of my recent favorite collecting goals is using all of my trades and flips to get a complete dreamcast fighting game collection. I dont think any other console has accumulated that many good games in only 18 months.
Great video guys. I'll never forget walking into a HMV store with my brother and seeing that Dreamcast there playing virtu tennis in late 1999 and playing it in the store and being amazed by it. This is one console my brother , sister and I combined our money to buy for ourselves. Sonic adventure 1, the Virtua tennis games, Virtua striker (soccer game) , crazy taxi , ready 2 rumble , so many cool games . I loved the idea of Shenmue playing it but I didn't have the patience for it , waiting for that next day as the clock is real time in that game for missions pissed me off lol. I think the only way this is still possible for 2021 is if you get the console with the ability to play burnt games , I know that's how I played the games back in the day after we found out you can do that .
Ok, is Virtua Striker available in the US? I gotta go look that up :). It was such a leap forward in 1999. It was such an awesome time to be a gamer. Thanks a ton for watching. Cheers!
@@GamingOffTheGrid I believe you guys got it as Virtua striker 2 in 2000..don't know if it aged too well but definitely give it a shot, maybe a burnt copy because although fun at the time it wasn't anywhere close to Virtua tennis in terms of fun
They did indeed. It is very curious how there are so many Capcom games from the DC era that they haven't done much with. Not even talking about new entries. But some collections maybe? Capcom!!!! Hello lol. Cheers!
@@GamingOffTheGrid I know but that's the charm or the nostalgia factor Dreamcast have. I guess the best way to go with it is buying the japanese console. Just a bit cheaper
I still have three consoles (one boxed), and the mouse and keyboard, and fishing rod, and the VGA adapter, and a lot of pads and memory cards. I did have a quick look at the prices of some of the games I have recently... Then I took them out of the bags they were in, up the loft, and put them on shelves ;) Like the Game Cube, I have a lot of stuff from back in the day, it's a shame things are so expencive now. When my Vectrex broke I decided I wasn't going to pay the asking price nowadays to replace it, and I use to write homebrew for that one!
Had very good memories of playing the dreamcast at my friend's house back in 2000 from time to time and I was 7 back then. Few years ago I bought a CIB dreamcast for $100 and a handful of goodies like crazy taxi, hydro thunder, sega rally, carrier and so on for decent prices at the time.
The dreamcast was also the first console I bought with my own money, got it on launch day. One of the greatest consoles ever made. I recently bought another console and did the gdemu mod. It's great, tbh. Oh, and definitely get an Akura box from the Beharbros (it's 75/80 bucks). It allows you to play the DC in perfect 480p through a standard hdmi cable. The games look fantastic!!!! Give Skies of Arcadia another try if you can find it, it's one of the best RPGs of the era, although I'm not sure if getting it on the Gamecube would be cheaper..... the GC version has some extra content too.
I went against you guys advice and bought a Dreamcast yesterday. I know its not cheap to collect for but it's a console I never had and always wanted and after watching this video a few months back, some of the games that you brought up on here have just drawn me towards wanting one even more so. I'm starting to become a bit of a retro games collector these days and I'm not going to lie though since I've started subscribing to you guys, I've spent a shit load on games! 😂 Not a bad thing though. I'm happy I can finally play Royal Rumble on the dreamcast(despite it not having the best of reviews) also another game I'm wanting to get a hold of is Kiss: Phycho Circus for DC which looks pretty mental
Rumors have been saying capcom is working on a new Powerstone game for the switch releasing on the switch two years from now. Awesome video. Keep up the great content 👏🏿
DUDE!!!! Absolute day 1 purchase if that comes to fruition! Damn I hope they knock it out of the park. Such an underrated series. Thanks for the info and you kind words man. Much appreciated. Cheers!
I've kept my Dreamcast under my entertainment center every since 1999. Even to this day, I have PS5 and my Dreamcast. It will never move as long as I'm still gaming.
I picked up a DC at EB Games after Sega had discontinued it. It was the stores floor model that hundreds if not thousands of people had played, so i got it for super cheap, like 40 bucks. I remember being in awe after I bought it lol, like holy cow I have a Dreamcast. It lasted a few years before it crapped out, but I’ll never forget when I finally got one. Bought a new one soon after, still hooked up!
Great video. The Dreamcast is the 1st system I ever purchased on day one. Still own my original white Dreamcast. Had a friend who used to give me games and emulators for the Dreamcast. Still have them. Some of the titles are strange like Simpsons Quake.
YES! I needed this video. Just got a dreamcast in a lot I bought but it had no games with it. Its not a console I ever had growing up, I was an Xbox guy. My friend Jason was the only person I knew that had one of these lol I am excited to get into the library :D I am seriously enjoying yalls channel, just found out about it from Pixel Game Squad. Great video.
I have the dream cast that I found in mint condition all it needed was the laser to be adjusted, that I got from the Goodwill back over 10 years ago for $10!!! Originally I traded in my N64 +4 N64 games plus 4 PlayStation1 games as well as my gun con and I got the Dreamcast and CrazyTaxi for 47 bucks at launch from a place called next level video games in Raleigh North Carolina that no longer exist… But I Mainly got the DreamCast for Resident Evil Code Veronica & Shenmue, I just didn’t know it until I got those games shortly after!
Damn, you guys are young, but you know your video game history! I went to Toys R’ Us and my wife told me to get a new console. I was looking at the Dreamcast against the PS2 and thought the Dreamcast graphics won. I still have my black sports Dreamcast in new condition. My game was Shenmue. Loved that game. Also the very first UFC game. They are still making games for the Dreamcast to this day. It will always hold a special place in my heart. Cheers guys!
Well I don't feel super young being 34 :). Robert is about 8 years behind me. Our age gap is a blessing because I was out of the loop in Gen 7 and he was playing tons of games at that time. Funny that you thought that about the graphics because I used to argue that same thing when all my friends were getting a PS2 :). Thanks a ton for watching and cheers to the Dreamcast!
I got mine about 4 years ago for around $40. VMU (memory card for the non Casters) if you think you need 2, get 3. They fill up fast. Get at least one more controller. I have never actually seen a DC game in recent times. I didn't want to be an only burner but that's how it turned out. The upside of every game being obscure or whatever is sort of like blind rentals back in the day. I had never heard of EGG, nor Armada, or Sword of the Berserk or Silver. But I like them all. So there is an joy of discovery there. Baseline a DC in a non collective sense will run you about a $100. That's not bad. Plus it's Sega history. And I love Sega.
A cool secret ill never forget is that before Dreamcast released here in US (9.9.99) my local EB (electronic boutique) store had an employee who brought a Japanese Dreamcast to the store and set up as a kiosk. It only had a demo of Sonic Adventure in Japaneseof course. This occured probably about 6 to 8 months before release here in US. I played that demo nonstop for about 2 hours, even when I couldn't understand the text lol. No one believed me that a I was able to play a freaking Sega Dreamcast at my school because he only had it there for like 2 or 3 days and it was a weekend. I think I was in 8th grade then 🥲
Very cool! Glad you found us. We don't have the glasses for sale yet but are hoping to have it as an option at some point, maybe this year. Thanks a ton for watching. Cheers!
Thanks for the vid! I did some weird shit with my collections. I bought my Dreamcast with like 10-15 games off a guy I knew in 2003-2004 and it had most of the classics. Marvel vs Capcom 2, sonic adventure 1&2, power stone 1&2, and so on. When I had my first son I hadn't played video games in a few years and I sold off everything....except the Dreamcast itself oddly lol. Then I found out years later I still had the case for Marvel Vs Capcom 2 but no game 🤦♂️(and a few others). So I really appreciate the ability to burn these backups. Recently I even bought a Dreamcast game lot off someone and it had booklets and inserts for dino crisis and blue stinger weirdly? So I burned those as well 🤣. There are scenarios I don't feel like I need the original games. And those are it. I have since amassed most of the collection I once had.
Man, I used to have that black Sega Sports model, but I unfortunately traded it back in the day. However, I found 4 stock white DC’s at Goodwill a few years ago for $10 each!
Always lived this comment: THE SEGA DREAMCAST DIDN’T FAIL. WE FAILED THE DREAMCAST. Launched the Sega Dreamcast on 9.9.99 at funcoland. Loved the system. Don’t have it anymore but ended up almost the entire library collecting for it. It was crazy taxi and nfl 2k what made me buy one
That is a great comment for sure. For about a 3 year period of my life I would argue to the death that is was the best console on the market. I even liked it better than the first wave of PS2 games :). Cheers!
It's a sweet console for sure. Wish it would have had a longer life cycle. A lot of SEGA games that ended up on the XBOX would have been DC games. It just fizzled out too fast. Thanks for watching. Cheers!
@retro game fan Never seen one in my region, I guess it just failed too badly at the time that no one care to distribute it here. So yeah that’s how people heard about it pretty late.
Y'all hat game is crazy !!! Cool to see you guys got Cannon Spike. Have you heard of Tech Romancer a very upgraded version of Cyberbots in my opinion. 2 year lifespan system, now expensive to collect for. The 1st Dreamcast Spiderman game at the time was "Amazing" to look at. Another great video!!!
I found one with 4 controllers in 2005 for $15 at goodwill. Dusted it off recently and got my wife Space Channel 5 because she used to play it. The only other game I have for it is Soul Caliber because my buddy had it when it came out. Just checked the date on the bottom. September 2000!
Currently have 2 Sega Dremcast love my Marvel Vs Capcom 1 & 2, Dead or Alive 2, Jet Grind Radio, Power Stone 1 & 2, Giga Wing 2, Plasma Sword, Rez, Silver, and the list goes on. Ahead of its time and it’s an absolute shame how it ended so short into its life here in the US.
Definitely. Wish it could have been around 2 more years. Some of the sequels that ended up on the XBOX would have maybe got the console back on track. Regardless it's epic. Thanks for watching. Cheers!
@@GamingOffTheGrid I 100% agree with you, it could’ve been beyond amazing. You’re welcome, thank you for releasing great content! Looking forward to the next video (:
Dude, Dreamcast such an underrated console, I wish it got more support back in the day and was a bigger success. Confidential Mission, House Of The Dead 2, Zombie Revenge and Hydro Thunder are my favs. I picked up Virtura Tennis a couple months ago cause of your praise in the past and you did not steer me wrong, great tennis game. The fact that it can play burned games, but I believe not sure but I heard that playing Burns makes the laser work harder thus causing quicker burnout on the laser but not sure if that is exactly true.
That could be true. We rarely play burns but that's good to keep in mind. I've never repaired a Dreamcast to this point. Hopefully I don't have to cross that bridge lol. Cheers!
@@GamingOffTheGrid Yeah when and if the day comes the Laser breaks I might just install one of those SD card readers that replaces the laser and just play the iso off SD... no different than playing a burn copy at that point.
Great video, agreed with everything you said...I quite like the sega sports logo on the black DC, the console was great for sports games, but yeah I see why most dislike it. Blue swirl for us in Europe and Australia I believe, you guys had the orange and Japan had a red swirl. I believe a company in Europe had a similar orange swirl as it's logo, so they couldn't use that and had to change it. I love the DC, I think it's great for arcade style games, as you pointed out. Enjoyed this one 👍
The Dreamcast games should be dirt cheap, like a dollar or 2, because they're old games. I have a Dreamcast since Christmas 2000 and I'm trying to buy some Dreamcast games that I never got the chance to play or haven't played in years.
That would be nice for sure. It's getting harder and harder to find them in good shape. Those jewel cases don't hold up the best over time. Thanks for watching. Cheers!
I just got a hdmi modded Dreamcast for my son for his birthday. It came with Zombie Revenge w/sports games & game shark cdx. It’s an older model so It can play burnt games to. I got him a burnt copy of Unreal tournament, Sonic Adventure, Power Stone 2 & Sword of the Berzerk 👌 By the way if you search Dreamcast Indie games on EBay there’s some cool ones there. I used to work at a Gamestore when the Dreamcast premiered & yes it was awesome owning an arcade style console. Best games to have for old school fighting games👍 Favorite games are Unreal Tournament Power Stone 2, King of Fighters evolution & Dream match Record of Lodos war, Street fighter Alpha 3 & Soul Caliber .
Damn that's a badass birthday gift :)! Unreal Tournament is epic. We just played the PS2 version a month or so ago. So much fun still to this day. Cheers!
Being newer to you guys channel I have to watch some older videos. One thing I do with all my Sega consoles is pickup games from other regions like Japan or Europe because of price.
I’ve had my Dreamcast since 2000. Just got the DcDigital mod installed from StoneAge gamer. If any of you reading this want a Dreamcast, but want to avoid the pricy games, buy a modded DC with a GDemu. It may seem pricy initially, but you’ll essentially have every game on a USB.
We've been kicking the tires on the GDemu for sure. We really need to find someone who can sell us a loaded card though as we don't have the time to put into tracking down all the games etc. The install seems way easy though. Hopefully something we can get done this year. Thanks for watching. Cheers!
Man if we could all go back and tell our former selves to not sell our games can you imagine the collections we'd all have :). So many poor decisions made trading shit in back in the day. Cheers!
What it Do! This is hands down my favorite video you guys have done, I was pleasantly surprised that you guys have such a decent amount of Dreamcast Games and quite a few heavy hitters , I shall recommend two co op games you guys don't have that are great , Dynamite Cop, Outrigger those 2 games are a blast with a buddy, keep it up guys and finally I'd disagree with your census you can still collect for DC I just picked up House of the Dead 2 , Confidential Mission and Starfire Gun for 90 CAD which is roughly 65-68 USD , cheers sorry for the very long comment.
I got a working original GBA w/ Sword of Mana, a ton of accessories, a broken DS lite, and a V1 Dreamcast console only on Craigslist for 100 smackers last month. With a donor power cable from a DVD player, and an AV cable on eBay for $6.49, I plugged in the Dreamcast and it starts up thinking it is 1999. Now I just need a VMU controllers and games 😭
I love my Dreamcast. I only wish I could afford more games. I have about 10 games. Most of them not the best ones. I did get Nightmare Creature 2 for free when I bought the console game for $35. It was in the system when I purchased it as-is. Luckily the system worked! I’ve looked and looked in the wild, and the games are very hard to find on a budget.
That is our problem too man. Same boat. We have a decent collection but tons more we'd like to get. But we are frugal as hell with what we buy. Probably a long shot to add much more to our collection at least at this point. Thanks a ton for watching. Cheers!
The reason why I bought a Dreamcast was to play the best game ever Marvel VS Capcom 2 🔥🔥🙏🏼🙏🏼
Got it for xbox not sure which is better or smoother frame rate but dc has 6 button fighter controller now xbox needs one
Got mines for that and capcom vs snk 2
@@Tweaked818 which are better dc or xbox versions...
Got mine to play the original NFL 2k games and the original soul Calibur

I still have my Dreamcast that I originally purchased back in Jan 2001. My main reason for loving this system is of course the arcade ports. Crazy Taxi, Gauntlet Legends, Marvel vs. Capcom 1 & 2, Street Fighter III, and more. This and the Saturn (Japan) were pure gold when it came to arcade games.
Nice! My brother ended up with my original. I wish I still had that damn thing. It was such a cool time in gaming history. Cheers!
@@GamingOffTheGrid great 👍 video
That's that AM2 PCB, just like the arcades 😉
My grandfather gave me $250 for a high school graduation present, the dreamcast was what I bought.
Hell yes! I'm sure that is exactly what he had in mind :). Cheers!
And That’s a good idea there for when my nephew graduates from high school
I still have my boxed black Sega Sports edition Dreamcast that I got in college. So damn sweet. So expensive to collect for. lol
We are officially jealous damn it :)! Some day we will pick on up. Beautiful console. Cheers!
I remember back in the day (in my country) some "arcade" machines had an actual Dreamcast inside, it was that powerful.
Arcades were the Dreamworld for most of us in the 90s and the Dreamcast was the one that allowed us to live that dream in our home.
It was definitely a powerhouse and one of the most underrated systems of all time! Cheers!
Cheers!
Modified fully decked out cost me roughly 160- 200. All the bells and whistles
Cheers!
You guys have really great chemistry together. You pretty much listed all my favorite games. Great video!
Love chilling with a beer on a Friday evening watching your videos, brilliant quality as always. All the way from the UK!
Hell ya man! Best tasting beer is a Friday beer :). Cheers!
Cheers!
Glad you made this video because the Dreamcast is a console I just don't have much experience with at all
you definitely should check it out if you get a chance we think you would really enjoy bro
I bought this as my first console too after my uncle rented one at launch. I couldn't believe the quality of games. And then I discovered the homebrew community and it was the tightest community ever. I'll never forget this era
Thats awesome! I definitely will never forget this era either! It was so awesome! Cheers!
This was a great system. I had no regrets buying the Dreamcast when it was new. I didn't wait for the PS2. Had some really great games. Way ahead of it's time. I was a Sega fanboy from Genesis to Dreamcast. Yes, even Sega CD and Saturn.
yeah its definitely a powerhouse. we love playing our dreamcast
Only console of this generation that I never even held the controller. Definitely keeping an eye out for one!
The console isn't to bad of a price right now. The damn games are what will get you. Great console though for sure. Cheers!
Sega Dreamcast is a must have! You’ll love it
Dreamcast has quickly become one of my favorite consoles to collect for!
18 Wheeler is one I never got around to playing. Played the hell out of Ready 2 Rumble though :). Good times. Cheers!
Cheers!
@@GamingOffTheGrid Absolutely...Quite possibly my second favorite generation of gaming next to the 16-bit era and the last great generation of gaming.
Coming from the Sega Saturn, I ended up getting a Dreamcast at launch. I remember using my tuition college money to get one. I had so much memories with this console. I ended up getting another DC as a xmas gift in 2021. I have 2 DC consoles now at US console and a Japanese consoles.
thats awesome. im the same as you but i was a teenager when i had my dreamcast. thanks for watching cheers
The VMU hurls abuse at you if you fail tricks on Tony Hawk. Love the Dreamcast and still play it on the reg (bought it in 2021).
Yes it does! Robert showed me that! Glad to hear you got into the Dreamcast! What a powerhouse! Cheers!

Boom! Enjoy. Great console. Cheers!
The DreamCast is like the “High school Sweetheart” that got away…
Some Games I love:
1.Shenmue
2.Resident Evil Code Veronica
3.Sega Rally Championship
4.Sonic Adventure1&2
5.Power Stone
6.4X4 evolution
7.Metropolis Street Racer
8.Crazy Taxi
9.Skies of Arcadia
10.Grandia
11.NFL 2K1
12.NFL Blitz
13.Tony Hawks Pro Skater2
14.Seaman
15.BleemCast GT2?
I could’ve continued on with all the RE titles but they were just upscaled ports so.. Great Ports, I just had them all on Ps1..
great list of games of there. shenmue is definitely a classic. alot of those games play best on the dreamcast compared to the other consoles they are on
Been meaning to play my Dreamcast recently, and this video did it for me. Time to get groovy with my favorite Jet Grind Radio! I'm so happy to see you guys love that game as much as I do. How could you not with that funkadelic soundtrack!?
Oh yes! It's epic and very unique. The sequel on the OG XBox is badass too. Love the style of the games. Thanks a ton for watching. Cheers!
@@GamingOffTheGrid Yes! I love Future as well. I like the og better but the sequel is still amazing too!
Awesome you have one already! Yeah the low install base and demand growing for it has raises the price alot! Cheers!
a friend of mine just gifted me his Dreamcast over the weekend
now waiting for my GDEmu and DCHDMI kits to arrive 😊
Congrats, that's awesome!
I just gifted my younger brother's old 360 wireless controllers and Gears of War to my ex-wife, I'd rather see someone get some use out of it!
Hell ya! Hell of a gift I'd say :). Cheers!
You should play with composite cables for a bit so you can feel the difference with the dchdmi, it’s unreal...
That’s a win!
@@user-yk1cw8im4h I only have the console and 1 controller... power cords and AV cables are all missing

Skies of Arcadia on the Dreamcast is my favorite game of all time. I still have a Dreamcast hooked up to a CRT monitor via VGA box. Looks fantastic 👍🏾
Hell yes! Cheers to keeping it retro!!!
The Dreamcast was the first major purchase I put on a credit card when I was in college. Later on I traded it in, which I regret now.
Those types of stories always suck man but we've all been there in some form or fashion. Would be nice to have some do-overs lol. Cheers!
Picked one up today with 34 games and box! Just watched this video thanks for the info! I got lucky, paid 100$ potential value is around 1000$. Wasn't looking to collect for this currently but now I'm intrigued
Wow! Thats an absolute steal! You will enjoy man! Cheers!
Just realized I watch this video for a second time just now and commented some things that I had commented when I watch this video a few months back!?
That’s how you know it is an Awesome video either way!
LOL! Well we appreciate it. Cheers!
I had one on launch but sold it many moons again. I bought one again this year, looking to do SD mod on it so I can have the full library 🙌🏽 great arcade machine and holds up today. You guys told me about zombie revenge, awesome game!
One of these days we'll mod one. For now were just running stock though. And yes, Zombie Revenge is so damn fun. Cheers!
Awesome! A Dreamcast video. I'm only about 80 more away from a full U.S. Set for this amazing system!
In this era of gaming…I will always go back to the older generation of gaming such as (Sega anything , NEOGEO, PS1-PS2, Xbox, GameCube…) I love it all!!
thats crazy you that have many consoles. we love this ers of gaming. one of our favorites cheers
@@GamingOffTheGrid I honestly need to make a video paying homage to SEGA. I have a nice little collection.
Oh yes, we have Royal Rumble. Not a lot of depth to the game but it is a damn good time for sure. Cheers!
Dreamcast is a unique case in the world of consoles
We need a Sega Dreamcast 2 in the works. I am bored with Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft. I miss Sega so much.
XBOX was kinda the DC 2. But yes, we need SEGA back on the scene for sure. Things have gotten very formulaic as of late for sure. Thanks for watching this oldie. Cheers!
The original Xbox was the spiritual DC 2. Many similarities. Especially the Duke controller, straight from Sega 😉.
Great channel! Subscribed
Thanks man! Very much appreciated!
Cheers!
"...It's thinking."
I love the Dreamcast.
Those who know…..know. Dreamcast at the time was so ahead of it’s time. It’s history breaks my heart foreal
@@GamingOffTheGrid For sure. It's crazy to think that the ps5 has already been out for dreamcasts lifespan.
Dreamcast was such a unique set up..almost ahead of its time
Favorite console of all time!
It's definitely badass. Wish like hell that it had a longer run. Cheers!
Capcom loved the dreamcast a lot. All those arcade ports were awesome on the dreamcast
Then I took them out of the bags they were in, up the loft, and put them on shelves ;)
Like the Game Cube, I have a lot of stuff from back in the day, it's a shame things are so expencive now.
When my Vectrex broke I decided I wasn't going to pay the asking price nowadays to replace it, and I use to write homebrew for that one!
Nice! I want a CIB Dreamcast at some point for sure. Always have loved that console. Cheers!
I agree. You can get a lot of the Dreamcast library on other platforms. Also the controller gives me hand cramp, and I don't have vga on my tv anymore
We just got a modded DC as well :). Loving it so far. Cheers!
I'm happy I can finally play Royal Rumble on the dreamcast(despite it not having the best of reviews) also another game I'm wanting to get a hold of is Kiss: Phycho Circus for DC which looks pretty mental
though expensive we know its great. its okay to go against our advicr. hope you enjoy your dreamcast man

Just started playing on my Dreamcast again.
Arcade-perfect system. Got hooked on Zombies Revenge here!
Nice! Such an awesome game. And the voice acting is so piss poor that it's epic lol. Cheers!
Too bad SEGA left out a TON of its arcade offerings. JP: Lost World, Scud Race, Daytona USA 2, VF4 to name just a small portion.
That's such a fun game --- love the fact that it takes place in the same universe as HOD2
Definitely a keepsake fo…show!
Great video guys! The last true great Arcade based console 🤘🤘
The main reasons why I got the Dreamcast on launch day was primarily Soul Calibur, and secondly Sonic Adventure.
Yeah those two games got lots of people excited for the Dreamcast! Two iconic games! Cheers!
Thats an awesome story! Glad you got another! Such a great console! Cheers!
Great video. The Dreamcast is the 1st system I ever purchased on day one. Still own my original white Dreamcast. Had a friend who used to give me games and emulators for the Dreamcast. Still have them. Some of the titles are strange like Simpsons Quake.
Same here :). Man it was an awesome time to be a gamer. Was obsessed with this console when I got it. Cheers to the good ol' Dreamcast!
Thank you very much guys for the video.
Thanks for watching man. Glad you enjoyed. Cheers!
YES! I needed this video. Just got a dreamcast in a lot I bought but it had no games with it. Its not a console I ever had growing up, I was an Xbox guy. My friend Jason was the only person I knew that had one of these lol
I am excited to get into the library :D

I have the dream cast that I found in mint condition all it needed was the laser to be adjusted, that I got from the Goodwill back over 10 years ago for $10!!!
Originally I traded in my N64 +4 N64 games plus 4 PlayStation1 games as well as my gun con and I got the Dreamcast and CrazyTaxi for 47 bucks at launch from a place called next level video games in Raleigh North Carolina that no longer exist…
But I Mainly got the DreamCast for Resident Evil Code Veronica & Shenmue, I just didn’t know it until I got those games shortly after!
started with the PS2 vid and now i’m here! your videos freaking rock! dropped a sub and keep up the great work!!!
i was actually getting really close to getting a dreamcast, and this video helped me decide not to since i’m a broke ass college kid. thanks y’all.
Hell ya man! Thanks a ton for the support, we greatly appreciate it. Glad you are enjoying the vids. Cheers!
I still have my original Atari 2600 and sealed copy of ET! LOL! I’m old
Shenmue was so amazing! I was 14 (I think) when that came out & I’ll never forget playing it for the months that followed
Yeah finding anything in the Dreamcast in the wild is hard anymore! I find it once on awhile but not much! Cheers!
I think I was in 8th grade then 🥲
So f’n badass dude! At that moment you were on top of the world Foreal

One of the most underrated systems of all time. I miss mine
definitely underrated in the grand scheme of things. it was a powerhouse
Man, I used to have that black Sega Sports model, but I unfortunately traded it back in the day. However, I found 4 stock white DC’s at Goodwill a few years ago for $10 each!
Holy moly! 4 of them for a great price! Great deal man! Cheers!
Always lived this comment:
THE SEGA DREAMCAST DIDN’T FAIL.
Cheers!
Beer? Games? I'm sold!...the black sports edition was the 1 I got 4 xmas and still play 2 this day
Hell yes! We just traded a friend for the black Dreamcast. Can’t wait to get it. Thanks for watching! Cheers!
I never knew the Dreamcast even existed until this last year. seems like an awesome console though!
This is unbelievable
YOU CAN use a gdemu
Y'all hat game is crazy !!! Cool to see you guys got Cannon Spike. Have you heard of Tech Romancer a very upgraded version of Cyberbots in my opinion. 2 year lifespan system, now expensive to collect for. The 1st Dreamcast Spiderman game at the time was "Amazing" to look at. Another great video!!!
Yes. Buy one. Today. Also, pick up a TerraOnion MODE to go along with it!
Its one of the best systems ever in our opinion so we agree with your comment! Cheers!
I found one with 4 controllers in 2005 for $15 at goodwill. Dusted it off recently and got my wife Space Channel 5 because she used to play it. The only other game I have for it is Soul Caliber because my buddy had it when it came out. Just checked the date on the bottom. September 2000!
The ship did not sale you should have bought. shit is even more expensive now
Currently have 2 Sega Dremcast love my Marvel Vs Capcom 1 & 2, Dead or Alive 2, Jet Grind Radio, Power Stone 1 & 2, Giga Wing 2, Plasma Sword, Rez, Silver, and the list goes on.
Thanks a ton! Epic console for sure. It was such a cool time to be a gamer when it came out. Gen 6 just f'n rocked all the way around. Cheers!
Dreamcast and Evil Twin you guys really speak directly to my heart!
That's a hard combo to beat! Cheers to the Dreamcast!
@@GamingOffTheGrid cheers gentlemen
Chaos Field actually released as a stand alone title on Gamecube as well, Wii iteration is obviously the way to go though.
It was indeed. I got all mixed up on that for some reason lol. Cheers!
I got him a burnt copy of Unreal tournament, Sonic Adventure, Power Stone 2 & Sword of the Berzerk 👌
By the way if you search Dreamcast Indie games on EBay there’s some cool ones there.
I used to work at a Gamestore when the Dreamcast premiered & yes it was awesome owning an arcade style console. Best games to have for old school fighting games👍
Favorite games are Unreal Tournament Power Stone 2, King of Fighters evolution & Dream match Record of Lodos war, Street fighter Alpha 3 & Soul Caliber .
Damn that's a badass birthday gift :)! Unreal Tournament is epic. We just played the PS2 version a month or so ago. So much fun still to this day. Cheers!
Don't forget Street Fighter Third Strike.
Being newer to you guys channel I have to watch some older videos. One thing I do with all my Sega consoles is pickup games from other regions like Japan or Europe because of price.
Yeah we like picking them up if we stumble upon them which is rare! Cheers!
Cheers!
Utopia boot disc bro
@@RetroGamingReplay have one since like 2001 or so. Although I’m considering just getting the bios mod with the noctu fan.
21:11 Speaking of Evil Twin, there is a Europe-only platformer for the PS2 and Dreamcast. You should try it out if you have a multiformat TV.
Just got a free Dreamcast from a friend and bought a few things for it. Sturmwind is amazing on it!
Damn man! Can't beat free :). Sturmwind is beautiful. Fantastic shooter. Cheers!
Glad I kept my dreamcast! Sold the gamecube though for a ps3 :( Another great video!!
Dude you guys gotta check out the beats of rage collection vol1. 2 & 3 for the dreamcast. The rom hacks are amazing.
yeah we will have to check those out they sound fun
I love my Dreamcast. I only wish I could afford more games. I have about 10 games. Most of them not the best ones. I did get Nightmare Creature 2 for free when I bought the console game for $35. It was in the system when I purchased it as-is. Luckily the system worked! I’ve looked and looked in the wild, and the games are very hard to find on a budget.
That is our problem too man. Same boat. We have a decent collection but tons more we'd like to get. But we are frugal as hell with what we buy. Probably a long shot to add much more to our collection at least at this point. Thanks a ton for watching. Cheers!
