If you thought those two others were killer guys why didn't you name them? Killer guys doesn't cut it mate, neither do you. Now go away and come back when you know their names. Pffft….him and his killer guys!
The late Jeff Golub was the other acoustic guitarist and the great Sid McGinnis was the World’s Most Dangerous Band’s guitarist, playing the mandolin here.
I saw Rod Stewart at Tinley Park Illinois back in 2004.Our boss Wesley Pratt took most of our plumbing shop and some a few of his important people like contractors by 3 limos up there at that half in and outdoor venue. We had a skybox full of beer....booze and good food.Rod did about 3 versions of his music past.Started out with his Faces hits.....his 80-90's stuff and his love ballads. He let his daughter get out there and do her stuff.Plus other people in the band....like a few of the female back up singers did their thing too. What a great showman he was.We were up high in the air so overlooking a view of part of the parking lot.Ozzy Osbourne's buses and band was parked and ready for Saturday night.
I was a freshman in college in 1971 when Every Picture Tells A Story came out. You couldn't go anywhere without hearing Maggie May. I bought the album and it remains one of my most played records. Led by Maggie May, it is a great album. Also got to see Rod &. The Faces in concert back in the day and they were one of the best live bands of the era.
Actually it came out during the summer of 1971. I had just graduated from HS headed off to UNC Chapel Hill in the fall.Maggie May was an all time favorite from the first listen. Saw him with the Faces in Charlotte NC at the end of my freshman year
@@kenennis6287 Yep, I saw Faces probably in '73. It was an outdoor concert that included Alice Cooper and Jefferson Airplane. We were so lucky with the bands/artists from that era. Just great bands...althought Airplane was just not good. I think Grace Slick must have been on something cause she was badly off key for their performance. But Rod and Faces were absolutely great as was Alice Cooper
I stumbled upon this when it was live back in the day. This was the song, more than any other, that I would race home from school and turn the radio on for. I was 12, and there was ju st something about it.
it never ceases to amaze me every time i remember that this song was prepared as afterthought, a B-side to Someone Like You. only the Beatles could make a B-side as great as this.
1971 Suzi and I just got married. We're driving into Denver and in to one of the most beautiful sunsets we ever saw. That song goes to my heart every time I hear Rod. He was one of Susis' all time faves!!! Thanks Rod!!
Letterman show only paid performers union scale (about $500 at the time). Rod did this gig simply to perform in front of an audience - which he loves to do and it shows. Magnificent!
There should be a Thumbs Up with LOVE when it comes to these two. Rod and Ronny are rock music legends, joined at the hip. Ronny's book has some lovely stories of when they were kids in the early days of the faces. They were so young and shy that when the girls came back to their hotel after the gigs they would rig up dividers between their beds. So cute and so human. God bless the pair of them.
Imagine being a musician and given 4 minutes to be the backing band for Rod on his signature song. There is no finer live version than this. Even Rod acknowledges the group with the first two words out of his mouth when the song is over.
love at the end when rod says... nice band !! of course Paul Schaffer from northern Ontario Canada been with letterman for yrs why are Canadians the chosen people? ho hummmmmmmm
No knock on Rod who i think is terrific, but there’s Rod Stewart, and there’s Rod Stewart and Ron Wood, and Wood’s presence takes it to a whole other level. That involves the Jeff Beck Group, the Faces and those early Stewart solo albums. Amazing stuff.
Trolls F Off. This is brilliance and pure nostalgia incarnate. I wasn't even born yet, but I feel it and see it. Such presence they both had. And Rod still sounds as good in 2016 as he did in the 60s. That's amazing. Probably the best singer ever.
Ronnie Wood provided both the bottom and acoustic melody to most of Rod Stewart's songs. Taking absolutely nothing from his songwriting and tenacious original vocals, without Wood he would have been another incomplete and frustrated artist. Together though, they created rock-and-roll legend.
+tom wray As far as aetist, They're both great. Each can stand on his own. Lets be honest though.. How would you feel to realize that 45 years ago , You left the Stones?
It's always great to see Rod & Ronnie together. 2 unique styles that compliment each other perfectly, .... and if that isn't enough, they practically look like twin bros too. Funny interview here to boot. Thanx 4 sharing.
Why does no one ever choose to leave out the Letterman intros to musical performances on The Letterman Show? They add nothing but time as far I've ever been able to discern.
What a pro man. Your modern band will turn up 6 hours early, and be sound checking and practising all afternoon for a show this size. Rod and Ronnie show up 2 hours early, don't even bring their own backing band, just use the show's band, and are perfection
Letterman's band are also really good - Rod says it at the end "great band". You know, it's not easy for a TV band to keep up with world famous, all time great, professional musicians, and put out a concert quality version - he was just acknowledging that
i love this song, when i was in the hospital for 7 months and listened to this song every morning at 7 am. it became very special to me.
When you stayed up late just to watch the great musical guests David Letterman always had throughout his time on late night TV great times.
Rod Stewart, Ron Wood, Will Lee, Anton Fig, Paul Scheaffer and two other killer guys... wow!!!!
If you thought those two others were killer guys why didn't you name them? Killer guys doesn't cut it mate, neither do you. Now go away and come back when you know their names. Pffft….him and his killer guys!
Wonderful Comment!!!!
Thank you for your Appreciation of "Great Music" & the Boys preforming 8

You seen them?
@@dougdavis8986Your grammar is better, but he seen them play.
@@MrÓNiadhI have too.
Magnificent performance of one of the best rock songs ever. It doesn't get any better.
+Ray “Chocolate Ray” Raymond Yes indeed Ray. It is as good as it gets my friend.
Ol Rod's voice had a more "gutteral " sound than normal, doncha feel!
It would be better if he sang it in tune here…

Ron Wood is an absolute hoot! Great personality!
The relationship between Rod and Ronnie is very beautiful and is pure rock and roll. Long live for two of the greatest ever.
I love it when Rod Stewart and Ron Wood perform together!!

Kudos to Wood for nailing that solo after those sudden and astonishing dance moves from Rod 😂
Rod always seems to perform better when he's onstage with Ron Woods. Just a rapport and chemistry that they have that brings the best out in Rod.
Wow. Live, live, live. No stupid auto tune or miming to a pitch corrected pre-recorded track.
Oh man, that's as good as it gets on Late Night TV. Great Performance by a legend and Letterman's deadpan humour. Oh, and what a band.

Thanks Rod!!
It was October, a beautiful day!
Rod was on the fm radio!
It’s because there’s no chorus. They didn’t think that would work on radio in 1970
Ron Wood. Awesome.
Ronnie best guitarist ever and rod superb performance
dude...get real.
Best guitarist never
😂😂😂
So much better than Mick Taylor.

People say if you’re could pick any celebrity to go out for a beer ,I always say Rod Stewart😁
Did you see the old memories flood when Stuart looked at Wood?
Fantastic song. Love Ronnie too.
48 yrs old here and GREAT!
I was happy to see the respect Rod showed Ronnie. It was Ron and Faces that attracted me to Rod in the first place.
If it wasn't for Ron Ronnie Mac and Kenney kicking him up the arse back in the day he wouldn't be where he is now
Ronnie wood is my hero
Ronnie is always so entertaining to watch as well as listen to.
The Ron and Rod Show 1st Class . . .
These guys have probably performed this song a bazillion times but for YOU it's the first time. True professionals.
Letterman show only paid performers union scale (about $500 at the time). Rod did this gig simply to perform in front of an audience - which he loves to do and it shows. Magnificent!

I saw Rod in Las Vegas….fabulous is an understatement.
The chemistry between Rod and Ron was beautiful.
I had the honour of seeing Rod Stewart & the Faces live in concert twice...... in Detroit & Toronto, back in the 70's. It was great then. Awesome now.
When he and Ronnie looked at each other it inspired rod to sing a bit better with his slightly overworked vocals!! True freindship!
Ron Wood, excellent utility musician in your corner. Kind off a Jack of all trades.
I could watch this all day !
Such a classic Rod song!
GREAT songs never die 40 years later and its still just as awesome a song as the day it came out
my dad loved that song Maggie May.....im serious, im named after it.
The solo is simple but effective. It's a great solo, from,Ronnie.Tha mandolin is the icing on a perfectly baked cake(nod to brilliant,mr Jimmy Webb).
I'd have to say this was Rod at his career peak. Still sounding great without backup singers and still had a look of youth. Great performance by all.
Dave had incredible music acts on his show. Problem was I could never stay awake to see them, would usually be the last on.
The band loves it, and you oughter as well.
Imagine being a musician and given 4 minutes to be the backing band for Rod on his signature song. There is no finer live version than this. Even Rod acknowledges the group with the first two words out of his mouth when the song is over.

Loved seeing him so animated, and I wait every time I hear this song to hear the mandolin solo, cool!

Great performance and nice band.
A very great song and also a nice history about him

That was soooo good.
The last part of the interview was the best part!
Rod is right - Letterman's house band are so tight.
That's as good as Rod's own band play it
Doesn't get any better!
Unbelievable almost 30 years since this broadcast. Love ❤️ Rod.
Cool stuff. Rod had a great voice. Ron Wood became a Stone after Faces broke up
Amazing version !
In 1993, the man with the quirky, colourful vest or novelty tie... and maybe carrying a mandolin..
He was the funny man.
Ron Wood is great! Rod's voice is superb here.
Unmistakably Rod !
Super...fan from Astana...
