Historically the test to see if parts of the game get through or not is if Miyazaki can actually beat it. He is actually notorious in the office for being bad at video games, so if he can beat it, the average player can.
About 120 hours my first time and that wasn't even everything. After like 2 ng+ to see other endings like 170 hours. A fresh play through from scratch where I actually knew what I was doing and did complete everything took about 60 hours.
Miyazaki’s team had so thoroughly earned my trust that shadow of the erdtree could cost the same as a whole new game and I’d still buy it. Their track record is absolutely spotless.
Destiny 2’s next expansion cost $50 for a bunch of reused assets put together Revelations(Black ops 3 zombies) style with no new enemy faction or darkness subclass and most of the cool shit will be locked behind a battle pass and the micro transaction store. Now compare that to the $40 dollar ER dlc. We’re getting a brand new area, new enemies, armor, weapons, weapon archetypes, bosses, etc. The difference is insane.
I mean, all the DLCs for dark souls 2 were kinda lack luster if u were to buy each one as their own thing. All the dlcs for DS2 together is amazing tho. So Idk if I would call that exactly spotless, but never has fromsoft ever disappointed me with any content they have ever released.
I don’t think literally anyone was saying 40 dollars is too high but 70 dollars is ok to buy a game. defending 40 dollars for a dlc by making an argument that you spend money on other games is kind of idiotic.
The argument is that some people invest hundreds of dollars, effectively buying a game like 10 times over, in really small and minor pieces of content while complaining that the expansion thats gonna be massive as hell is $40, and are quite fallacious in thinking so since they dont comprehend the value of what this single time purchase is. Especially as they spend more money on CoD games for very similar gameplay with very few additions each year for the full price of the last title.
@@izumiia_ that may be true, but capcom isn't necessarily consistent in quality with other game series. RE is definitely consistent in recent years but that's with a secondary company who they're just publishing for.

i think alot of devs really want to bring back the term and concept of expansion pack but marketing and execs would tell them that people would get confused and DLC is just a good general term for them
Expansion pack is the old term for downloadable content so yeah, truly a late 90's gamer indeed. Pretty sure even in the early 2000's as well they still call it expansion pack I guess, until the 2010 AAA games era where DLC began to become a common term.
All of that is part of the experience, I'm not gonna play cuz I'm more of the FPS side (Helldivers 2 is hella good), but fromsoftware games are a clear behemoth on their own. Bloodbourne, DS3 and now Elden ring will truly live to be part of the greatest games
@@robbieschirmer8966 Mostly Dialogue time, the time it takes to beat a boss with 'perfect run', and the travel time between places. Here's the thing though, Miyazaki always sells the length short. He said Elden Ring was gonna be 30 something hours, and my playthrough came in at well over 200. I fully expect a proper playthrough of SOTE to come in at around 50-60, and that's being conservative. Remember, previous docs for Souls-Likes released within a year and always set a new bar, but this one has been cooking for twice as long.

@@herrfrau4162 Only in terms of gameplay at most. They've been evolving in world design at the least. Dark Souls was Metroidvania, while Elden Ring is Open World. Even with the Soulslike gameplay, those are fundamentally different experiences. Same for Pokemon. Scarlet/Violet feels completely different to Emerald in terms of the world and exploration. Still more than CoD has done. So nah, still a W for FromSoft. Plus, FromSoft doesn't have microtransactions. Also, as an aside, why would they not continue to make Soulslikes? They invented the genre and repeated the success many times over, with multiple revisions and QoL improvements over the years. They only went back to Armored Core after more games started filling their niche. It'd be stupid not to capitalize on the monopoly of a popular genre. Plus, comparing Demon Souls, Sekiro, and Elden Ring is disingenuous to their gameplay systems, as they do have many fundamental differences (especially in terms of healing or Posture). They just share a high difficulty and a diverse array of boss fights.

if you do a thorough exploration of the map and don’t struggle with bosses a whole lot, the vanilla game is easily 120+ hours of content on your first playthrough. These games also have incredible replayability because of all the different weapons/builds/magic. The dark souls 3 ringed city dlc is the best expansion I’ve experienced on a game and I have no doubt the bar will be raised higher here, especially with the extra time they took to create it

Kinda like Flame Peak and Mountaintops of the Giants, if Flame Peak wasn't just a respective section of the area, and had its own category in the warp point areas (if u press triangle while in the map, for those who dont know, it opens up all the grace points you have been to, but they are split into categories by area (and they have sections, like how Raya Lucaria is a dependent area, as it is only a big fraction of Liurnia), and you will see that Weeping Peninsula is just the huge, Southern point of Limgrave. A whole lotta yapping just to say that all of Limgrave 3 times stacked with a Weeping Peninsula is 4 Peninsulas + 3 Limgraves stacked on top of each other 😭

My little thumb for finding games and content for games and stuff, is how much of my time is this worth, let's say I make 20 dollar an hour and a game is worth 40 I would ask my self if that 2 hours is worth that game and that experience. Most often the answer is no, because I'm not a major gamer.
@westenplatt179 I don't have any disposable cash
However I typically decide on spending money based off of how much use or certain increases in things (like how much it'll improve or affect my health physically or emotionally)
Shadow of the Erdtree is what DLCs used to be and what they were intended to be
The DLC is gonna take me longer than 30 hours because I’m gonna get lost and explore every single crevice until I have found everything there is to find
Took me 119 hours my first playthrough 😂 just started my fourth a few days ago
@@royalscythe6422nice!
@royalscythe6422 yup. Took me about 130 hours to find every cave, catacombs & mini bosses before I beat Radagon on my first playthrough. It is going to suck fighting Mohg on NG+4 after not playing for a year.
As it should be played! My first playthrough was around 267h exploring every inch of the map, it was awesome.
Took me 0 hours to just not play this game 😅.
The one guy: "$40 is a lot."
Me, a Pokémon player: "First time?"
me as a monster hunter player: not my first rodeo
Fr Pokemon fans are gullible enough to buy them too
Gamefreak ain't catching me lacking with that
NAH THIS TOO REAL
look man I need the funny ogre and the funny turtle
Miyazaki for the DLC said that it’s “at least the size of Limgrave.”
Remember, this is the same humble man who said “Oh Elden Ring will take people about 30 hrs to beat.” This is the same game where we thought that the map was going to be just Limgrave.
Fromsoft VASTLY undersell their games.
Mark my words. This will pretty much be a whole goddamn sequel to the main game.
The amount of content we saw in the trailer alone tells me it absolutely will deliver and then some.
Plus, the DLCs have always hid the true final boss. So I know damn well whomever is after Mesmmer will be a brutal fucking boss and I cannot wait for it!
I remember hearing this phrasing from someone.
God, that would be a dream come true. The only thing I want is MORE ELDEN RING!
@@greatdanchik Vidya said it the fromsoftwaere game lore master in his Shadow of the Erd Tree trailer analyze
Don’t overhype how much content there will be. You’re only setting yourself up for failure or simply meeting expectations.
God of war Ragnarok: 🗿
Bro won that imaginary debate 💀
Truly, I don't think the people complaining about the DLC being expensive are the ones buying yearly CoD releases and V-Bucks.
@@chroprsyeah and nobody even plays those games anymore
Dude I spent so much time in Elden Ring just exploring and finding hidden items, dungeons, and bosses. It was so epic can’t wait for the DLC this June!
My brotha that is exactly why i love the game as its my first soul game and I'm at 300h and i just reached Malenia lol 80% of this 300h is only exploring and discovering
Paradox players: $40 for a DLC that’s cheap
I raise you with Sims 4 dlcs.
You either a mad person to buy them all, or you can always go "yar har har" route.
@@muhammadnursyahmi9440 honestly, sims 4 isn't even worth pirating.
2 and 3 may have less overall stuff, but they work better than 4.
Nah 40 dollars for a Paradox DLC is expensive. How about you break that up into 6 DLC's priced at 20 dollars each?
it hurts so much ck2 not even a good game with out the dlc
@@gorrazin7983 yea lol
Bro just got 40 missed call from From Software 🗿
Bro made shower arguments into shorts
@masterraccoon2883it SO EXPENSIVE
Its gonna take me 30 hours just to beat one boss 😭
This is like one step away from schitzo posting
Yo, watched the Elden ring stream a while back. It was good love your content, man.
