😂 😂 😂 - such a good narrator and so easy to listen to - not forgetting his ingenious inventions - and even "Donald" is a kinda icon now - I love it !!!

Fred Dibnah was the real deal an old fashion steeplejack who did everything by the Victorian book, but he was also about preserving Britain's industrial heritage and steam in general, I only wish I met the man himself but at least I've visited his house earlier this year where he spend his lifetime's work doing what he loved R.I.P

I think we should consider that Fred was much more than a 'Steeplejack' as per the blue plaques and encyclopaedia entries. He was a lover and enthusiast of steam, he was an artist, a builder, an entertainer and the thing I love about Fred the most he was an educator. He told stories in simple terms and in doing so conveyed the message to a larger audience. His enthusiasm and appreciation for the workmanship of our forebears was totally infectious. There will never be another Fred Dibnah, but I hope in the future, there are similar folk who light up our TV and our lives with their enthusiasm for their subject and life in general or else telly will be exceedingly dull! RIP Fred.

I worked on the traction engine with him a few times and went over the Forth Road bridge on the trailer pulled by the engine.
Stayed in the caravan to get up all night to keep the lanky boiler lit for his open day.
He trusted me and that meant everything

I discovered Fred's videos on here a couple of weeks ago. Never heard of the man before that, but then again I'm Canadian. To me, Fred was fearless the way he climbed all of those chimneys. Would have loved to see his workshop and all of his steam machines. His talents are unsurpassed in my books. I would have loved to meet h and have a pint with him listening to some of his adventures. You are sorely missed Fred. RIP.

One thing I remember very well about his funeral was all of the watch of the fire station standing in full uniform with the engines outside with lights on
Its funny, but that is the enduring thing I remember about it
