Love the song This Lancashire Town, reminds me of home. Live in Scotland now, not the same going back now everything has changed :( i think the market place was the biggest crime the council committed in the town centre.
Just finished read Bill Naughton's autobiographical trilogy about his upbringing and family life in Bolton during the 1920s and 30s would recommend an excellent read
@1:42 I believe that's the railway bridge at Hall 'i th' Wood. The housing estate would already have been built by then, but ridiculously there was no station until 1986.
who are the singers on here I used to go to folk night years ago bit i dont remember some of the singers but i dont think ivr hrard these before Love the music and the video thank you very much
@2:56 I'm not sure when this photo is from, perhaps the 70s from the car. Everything you can see in that photo is still the same now...well now there's a horrible mural on those white panels on the church.
By 'old' I assume you mean concrete monstrosities built in the 1960's. I would have preferred it if we had renovated old buildings instead of knocking everything down. Bolton town centre used to have more cinemas than any town in Britain. How many are there now? None...
Blows my mind how back in the day looks better than now I would love to travel back in time
Brilliant. This was my era; I bought my first cricket bat in Albert Wards. I left for foreign climes (Preston) in 1963!
I never tire of viewing vintage photos of Bolton....my old hometown, and generally always spot some that I haven't seen before. thanks for sharing :)
I remember well some of those old places, amazing to see the station as it used to be.
It feels so weird seeing my home town on youtube! I love seeing history of Bolton and Farnworth
This has lovely memories. thank you!
Shame on Bolton Council for the disgrace the town is today......
I never lived these times but I can tell you I wish I had!
It's a tragedy what's happened to Bolton.

The old train station a crime we lost that
Terry have you got any pictures of the New Inn in Coe Street.😊 My Nanna and Granddad ran that pub in the late 40s early 50s.

Belting. Read them too. Fantastic. See if you can get " A Bolton Childhood" by Alice Foley.

They even moved Bolton , it's in Greater Manchester now .
All our beautiful buildings in Bolton hav gone shame on the councils that have allowed this I’m all for progress but at hat price

Cliff Morris destroyed Bolton end of supported by current liebour councillors who shall remain nameless!!!!!
is he on drugs?
its not in Lancashire its in Greater Manchester
Lancashire long before greater Manchester I can tell your not from bowton
Started calling it greater Manchester through the police force.its called Lancashire...?
It should be a part of Lancashire, Greater Manchester is an artificial creation with no history.
Lancashire long before Greater Manchester..its still in Lancashire to me
The Post Office has never accepted that it is anywhere other than Lancashire. Greater Manchester is a political area.
Very clever lyrics
