    Interesting how the radiator temp sensor affected the IAT and ECT sensor figures ... Top job as always Luis cheers 👍

    There is a field remedy for this fault from Vauxhall’s which requires a new multi plug temp sensor and seal along with new terminals for the multi plug all parts are included in the rework kit available from Vauxhall’s dealers good video tho

      LM Auto Repairs not a prob I thought I would say as you helped me when I asked for advise but most dealers stock this kit as was a very common rework when I worked for them there was also a rad fan rework for the Astra j also

      Both ways are just as easy.
      Testing continuity and looping to read the data take exactly the same amount of effort and time.

    Hi great video easy to follow for a novice diy mechanic like me.
    Would this fault cause the in cabin heater to blow warm even with the AC on? Have same symptoms as this except it's a service light not a engine light on the dash. Also when I'm driving the problem seems intermittent. Just changed the etc this morning but still happening.

    • @LMAutoRepairs
      @LMAutoRepairs  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Could do...
      But check all the other possibilities...
      Have you scanned the car?
      Check live data and check temperatures etc...

      @@LMAutoRepairs my readers just a cheap one, i can see the engine isn't overheating though, and it gets up to temp nicely so i doubt its the thermostat either.
      Appreciate the reply.

    The ECU didn't report any codes for IAT and ETC. If there was a problem there should should be a code. Why was there -40 for the IAT and ECT? Maybe the ECU doesn't report what it actually reads? Also the 140 degress C is weird. If we assume it follows the OBDII PID for ECT (0105) the answer for radiator temperature sensor is one byte (A=0 to 255). With a temperature range -40 to 215 (A-40). It showed -40 when open in open circuit, but only 140 when in short circuit. Maybe the ECU saw -40 from the radiator sensor and said OK, report all sensors as -40?

    • @LMAutoRepairs
      @LMAutoRepairs  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You "believe it is a sensor "?
      Don't guess... it can become very expensive very quickly... if you just start to throw parts at it in the hope that fixes it...
      Scan the car first, and go from there...

    • @mikesabin8568
      @mikesabin8568 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      So you can tell what the temp is coming out of the radiator. Imagine if the radiator was plugged and had bad flow, it would be pretty useful to see that data at that spot, correct?

    You made a schoolboy error here. You found severe corrosion on the sensor plug. Enough to prevent circuit connection. The sensor may or may not have been faulty but you changed it anyway, possibly wasting £30. Because you didn't test the original sensor you don't know whether it was faulty. The rest of the car looks terrible under the bonnet. 10 years old but no undertray to stop water ingress. No wonder there's corrosion.

    • @LMAutoRepairs
      @LMAutoRepairs  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      For £30, was no point to risk it...
      The plug for the sensor was sealed, for the water to be inside, would mostly had to come through the sensor... the pin was also quite corroded...
