Thank you, my sister has just recently bought an astra after having it for one day she's experiencing the same problems. Will check this over tomorrow hopefully I can get it sorted
Greetings from Berlin! Thank you sooooo much, I‘ve had exactly the same situation, equal error codes and handling of the engine. At the beginning I found some videos stating that P0106 is because of a bad MAP sensor, but than I saw your video and was convinced to check the valve, and this was the right solution (was a little bit worried if the new would still leak too 😅 but everything is fine) Thank you so much!
Unfortunately I know that they would never take it back... As it was "used".... They would quickly say I misdiagnosed and now was trying to return it... LoL Thank you for watching and for your comment!
Very common problem. First job is always to see how easy the oil filler cap comes off while the engine is ticking over. Must have done 20 of these in the last year or two. Never bought a genuine steeler part. Customer always wants an eBay part. Never had a bad one. I do agree a lot of cheap parts are definitely getting worse though. One thing to note, some genuine parts manufacturers do send parts that haven't passed QC to China. These get reboxed and sent back to EU and US. Some BMW parts in US are renowned for this.
Simply reving up the engine would bring the fuel trim numbers down and show the problem. TOO lean at idle but not at high rpms means vacuum leak. This engine has MAP and MAF sensor. So the fuel injection is dictated by the MAF. MAP sees the drop of vacuum but is not in control of the fuel. The MAF is.
Thank you very much you solved the problem I had with my late Astra H as it has the same engine fitted a new rocker from my local motor factors problem solved👍👍👍👍
You're brilliant Bro👍 This situation is quite frustrating when the fault is still present after replacing the failed component & it's even more disturbing when the customer has bought the part themselves & they will never condemn what they bought That's an automotive tech's life😉 But the way you dissected both cover's & made one functional out of them is outstanding, Great work👍 Stay Safe Bro❤

one of our drivers bought his Land Rover 2008 puma defender into the workshop and said the MIL lamp was on and the engine was under powered and running rough, so I got the 'Box' out and plugged it in, it came up with a fault code, I cant remember the number but it said EGR circuit value out of range, so I got a new EGR valve and fitted it, reset the code and five minutes later the same problem reappeared, so I scratched my head a bit and had a think, and tried to apply some logic to it, the code said EGR circuit value out of range, and I thought maybe it meant the electrical circuit, the wiring looms on these defenders is fairly complex and didn't want to pick off all the tape to find a break in the wire/s, so i bought a loom, and they are not cheap 400 quid If i remember correctly, so i fitted that and guess what? same problem (Humph), so I phoned a friend in the trade who specialises in engine management etc, and he said 'did you fit an after market EGR valve or genuine?' (here of course is where real experience comes into it's own), That was when the penny dropped, I'd of course fitted an after market part, so I then fitted a genuine EGR valve and presto job done! The real problem here was not so much a part that didn't work properly and just having to swap it for one that did, but that it sent me off in the wrong direction and caused unneccesary expense. In principal I'm quite happy to fit after market parts but there are caveats, you just need to be aware that they are not going to be as good as OEM parts and they can catch you out...Ouch! F-ck . I just bought FAI turbo seal kit. Tomorrow I have in plan to change the turbo. Now I have second thoughts about the job being done properly with that kit.
You already spend the money... so, just go for it... lol

That’s the problem with copied parts, they don’t always copy them exactly.
Indeed...

Oh yes, fighting a 2010 prius with 430k miles on clock and "system too lean" code. Pain in ass! Everything is broken this car :(
🤞
Great parts suplyer you use , £75 for a load of crap , should of got one from main dealer that's why these parts are cheep they are crap
Agree...
But I can only get what the owner is prepared to pay for...
Thank you for watching!
It is so silly to have the PCV valve not replaceable separately.
Agree...

I had a different problem with the same rocker cover. I got two Fia rocker covers off my local motor factors, that Id consider a decent brand, both wouldn't fit as was a few mm out & three bolt heads wearnt formed correctly. The next step in price was a Febi that was £130, so I ended up rolling the dice & getting one off eBay for £27.89 instead that fitted great & even had the Vauxhall number stamped in to it, lol
Was Febi ok?
@@andresilva5667 I didn't buy the Febi one, I took the chance on an eBay one that was on offer & it fitted great www.ebay.co.uk/itm/322888443483
@@charliekarting3401 Glad to hear that. I have ordered from the same source, for my sons Zafira B 1.6. It's the one ending in 284, with the curved ends for the cams. £28 not bad. Hope it also fits OK.
👍👍👍
@@charliekarting3401 I tried 2 new ones from amazon and they failed so badly. Started leaking 😭
Did you use any sealant like in the vid?
Hej nice video

The torque for those bolts are 8 nm and not 9.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
1 nm difference...👍👍👍
Thank you for watching and for your comment!
@@LMAutoRepairs no problem man. Also subscribed loved your video. 😁😁
That 1Nm extra will destroy the engine
@simeunovicm
Really?🤦♂️
Whatever...
@@LMAutoRepairs joke
go buy another cheap one wash the bad one and return as a bad part assuming the second cheap one is ok, just wash the original one and return it :) for laughs and giggles.
LoL
Please we’re so u live
I dont know which to blame... Cheap chinese part or plastic GM valve cover. Thats insane!!!

Frustrating you had to strip it I hope at the time you told your shop about the fault
Yes I did...
It was frustrating indeed... time consuming etc...

Don't be a parts fixer buy genuine lol. Vauxhall are too greedy asking so much money that most people can't or wont pay so they are pricing them selves out of the market.
Agree... vauxhall parts are quite priced...
Thank you for watching and for your comment!
Opel and GM shitty engine design...cutting corners to make more money on the car selling price
Sadly more car manufacturers go o this road with a cheap/unreliable design and adding planned obsolesce...just taking the suckers..sorry I meant customers money :(
🙄
As well...
Thank you for watching and for your comment!
Vauxhall are really poor in my opinion.
They could be better... definitely...
But goes to many other brands... 😊

@@LMAutoRepairs
I know. Because they have to make the cars lighter, build quality suffers and manufacturers use other companies engines. I mean, would you buy a Mercedes with a Renault engine? And there's too many modules in stupid places where they get water ingress all the time. Its laughable.
Smaller engines with turbos are too highly tuned and overheat like the ford engine. Vw have a high engine failure rate too on the TFSI engines. Total crap.
