My pleasure 👍
I have an Astra H Twinport and strangely it works but not straight away but after leaving the vehichle to cool down. Usually after a night left in the parking lot... Quite annoying but ... It is how it works with my one :D
Great info cheers man, I have a Corsa and thought that car / spanner symbol just meant service which I planned to do but past few days it's very sluggish no power, apparently it's "limp home mode" 🤣 i'll do the pedal test tomorrow
I have a vauxhall astra j 2012 this trick does not work for me how do I get it to work or what do i do
Thank you for this information, it's very useful. How can I run a test on an automated vehicle. My car is showing a code 4 on the dashbroad while running.
Thank you. Very helpful info and explanation. 👍

Respect for that
I know this an old post, came across this post while trying to find cause of a problem with car. Although my car dosnt show fault code, my engine management light flashes? Only while doing this tho not at any other time. Corsa 07. Thanks
Do you know if this will work on the Vauxhall Combo 1.3 cdti engine? Engine model type Z13DTJ
Thank you very much for your time
My pleasure Charles, subscribe for more helpful videos on random subjects! 👍
Just to bare in mind, this pedal test only shows codes in relation to the engine. Also the codes that appears may well be historic codes left behind from past faults that haven't been cleared by the proper computer diagnostic devices. If you have issues get the computer check done, as you may end up chasing "ghosts" and spend more money than you need too.(I had an issue (esp light on) where the codes came up as turbocharger solenoid valve circuit open and also a maf voltage low. When in fact it was down to the steering wheel angle sensor and just needed the tracking done.
You COULD reset the fault codes, and after that, read what's on the display.
@@thefreedomguyuk how can you do this in cars like this? Without obf of fault code reading software?
Thanks- a top tip.
Thanks Peter 👍
Thank you sooooooo much!
My pleasure! Cheers, Chris 👍
Thanks for this
+Andrew Richards My pleasure Andrew, thank you for watching and commenting 👍
Nice one, cheers
My pleasure 👍
Tried it on my corsa ecoflex 1.0 and I couldn’t press the brake , it was rock solid and wouldn’t budge unless I turned the key first 🤷♂️
Thank you kind sir
You're welcome Michael 👍
Hi there l gave the spanner display on the dashboard but the pedal test doesn't display an error code. I have a 2012 1300 ctdi and it has just returned from service.
Spot on
👍
Does this work on a astra j 2012?
thNKS GENtle MAN
My pleasure 👍
Thank you sir!!
My pleasure! 🙏
Hey! This is quite a great help!
Do you know if this works as well on the Zafira model 'A'?
Thank you and greetings from Portugal.
Hi Vitor, thank you for watching and commenting. Good question! Try it and let us know if it works or not on your car... Cheers, Chris 👍
Sorry, Vitor, but the Zafira A predates this function. So no.
Will that work on corsa 2015 reg?
Hi, Does this work on a Astra Automatic
Ar these codes applicable to all cars?
My rear off side indicator light is on constantly??? Any ideas???
do u know what code 132242 is on 2006 astra 1.7 cdti?
Didn't work on my 2004 Vectra 1.9cdti. No codes displayed and no flashing eml to count off, like in the old days. ;¬)
But my neighbour just mentioned he has an obd2. So I'll borrow that in a shortly.
Old video I have yellow engine block light also codes: 013004, 013008, 017015, 017011. Oil is in the wires from oil pressure thing.
Does this work on a meriva?
great tip, just going to buy vectra c, thanks man
My pleasure, happy car-hunting. 👍
I have a Astra XR and this "trick" did not work. Any other suggestions beside getting a scanning tool.
top man!
👍
Can’t seem to be able to do this with my vectra c 2.2 automatic how do you do it with an automatic
What the display reads is the OBD code, doesn't it? Because I have read there are different code standards...
does that include the alarm codes
I've got a 2017 corsa and this isn't working... any suggestions
The fault I'm getting is the engine power is reducing whilst I'm driving
The brake pedal is stiff and won't depress with engine off?
Good to know, unfortunately my Jurassic corsa is too old and Insignia is too new ;)
Thank u so much
My pleasure Sarah
Do u have any other wee tricks for the astra it would be much appreciated no long aquired one an its not well lol
What if it’s keyless? Same scenario?
It doesn’t seem to be working for my Corsa D VXR, although I noticed the engine management light flashing in some sort of sequence
Worked a charm, changed the cam sensor which the fault code said it was, car is running better but the code is still there, should this go off now I’ve changed the sensor or is there a way to reset it? Thanks
Hi Paul, if you disconnect the battery negative lead, go and have a cup of tea, then reconnect the battery again afterwards, this should reset your code. Cheers, Chris 👍
what if i dont like tea ?
thanks :)
My pleasure Tato 👍

I have error code 1410d on my vauxhall astra but cant find this code in any list?
doesn't work on vectra c 2006 model??
Is there any method for Alfa Romeo?
Sadly, no, this is a GM feature.
But diagnostics of Alfas is easy......All the fault codes are likely to apply, to any car (-;
I have fault code 24 in red on my 2011 Astra Excite and I don't know what it is help !!
Did you get it fixed?
The red 24 is a safety fault, either airbags or seat belt locks.
haha i struggle to find what the break is or the clutch stick is! no wonder you said your videos might not be marathon worthy for me I'm well thick lol
+JuiceMyRandomness Cheers Carl, like I said some of my videos are pretty 'niche'... This one for example is only of interest if you have a Vauxhall / Opel but hopefully it is useful for some people out there. This is the kind of information that should be put in the car's owners manual but for some unknown reason they always seem to forget to include it!... :-)
hey i like your personality so even if you did a video about how much you love maths id give it a watch!!!! lol well hey this video will be handy for a lot of people then! will you be doing blogs about your adventures and travels and italy etc?
Cheers buddy! Funny you should say that I just came back from a two day solo trip in the mountains where I 'bivvied' (Think camping without the tent) and then climbed a mountain. I filmed it and will be making a mini documentary-type video. It should have some funny bits in it because I was pretty paranoid about waking up to find a pack of wolves surrounding me (Wolves populate the area I was staying in). It will be a longer video though so I'm not sure if anyone will have the patience to watch it all... time will tell!
i have codes
190107
and
200307.
do u know what the problem is?
It sounds like an issue with the particulate filter. Take the car out for a good run at high revolutions for a decent length of time and it may cure itself. Cheers, Chris
I was hoping this would work on my Antara but it didn't. Either that or I got no error codes to display but highly doubtful since I got esp, hill descent and abs lights on.
Ever fine a way of doing it?
@@JamieTerrill1 nope, I replaced both rear wheel sensors and the lights turned off.
Hi have have ecn 111306 and 011515 could you shed any light for me please
www.yourmechanic.com/article/p1113-obd-ii-trouble-code-intake-air-temperature-iat-sensor-open-short-by-yourmechanic
Not sure about the second one but googling the forums for your car should answer the question for you.
Hi so what was fault for the code 0500 thanks in advance
Apologies for the delayed reply, I've been offshore for a couple of months. This answers your question better than I ever could:
www.troublecodes.net/pcodes/p0500/
Good luck! Cheers, Chris
i just bought 3 goats with money you saved me
Doesn't work on my corsa 1.2, any ideas ?
Hello, thank you for posting this info. In my case, the "little car with a spanner" indicator is permanently lit when the engine is running. But the Pedal Test shows no fault codes. Likewise an OBD reader shows no fault codes in the ECU.
Which should I believe - the indicator that says there is a fault, or the absence of fault codes that say there are no faults?
v8pilot that'll be a service light. Vauxhall want it in their garage 😉
Thanks. But how to put it out? Apart from taking it to the Opel/Vauxhall garage who told my girlfriend, having looked at the car for three minutes: "It needs new glowplugs, new tyres and new wheel bearings". (The tyres have ~5mm of tread)
I don't think you can put it out. I believe it comes on after so many miles. There's no issues associated with it. Just Vauxhall wanting some money
Thank you. All the same, if Vauxhaul can put it out, there has to be a way of putting it out, even if it involves tapping in Vauhall's secret code via the OBD2 system. Anybody out there know what it is?

Hello i have fault codes ecn 062102 cant find what it means
Does this trick work on Mercedes Benz?
Yes, but you need to get the motor started..
Nice, but this test is not working on the Astra J.
Didn't work on my astra 04 ts
Didn’t work on Vectra C 2004
Didnt work on my 07 Astra
Hi there, can anyone tell me why i can't turn off my spanner light on a vauxhall corsa 2010 1.3 diesel, the service as been done, i tried to reset the light, but it would go out, so i've put it on a diagnostics machine, it's telling me there are no faults with the car, car starts and drives fine. Thanks.
Try pushing brake pedal and mileage reset pin at the same time and then turning key to position 2 (all lights on but NOT starting ignition) for around 15 seconds. Turn key off and then it should have gone when you restart engine.
@@Jaxrus1 I did that but know good, it didn't fix it, the cars gone now, but thanks so much for getting back to me.
Doesnt seem to work on 1.6 Zafira Tourer
Not working on Insignia.
Can anyone help with code 0586 Astra life 08 reg
Doesn’t work on corsa d auto
It didn’t work for my 1.2 corsa 2009
Tried this and no codes appeared, but engine management yellow light is on. Go figure!
Why isn't this working on astra h 2009 facelift
It ought to work on a 2009
Hi I like to know I Recently change the Transmission in AH Astra Z18XE Engine with a second hand transmission
and I lost all gears.
when I check the codes, it show following code.
U2106
U2103
P1120
can somebody help me out I feel like all these problems great because ECU not able to Communicate with TCM. I feel like its transmission problem let me know if somebody knows anything about it..
Hi Sunil,
I don't know if I'll be able to help you but I'll try my best. I have the following questions for you:
1. Is the transmission manual or automatic?
2. What was the problem with the first transmission?
3. What are the problems with the car now?
4. Are you sure those are the correct codes? ( or could U2106 be P2106, for example - how did you get them?)
The answers to these questions will help anyone else reading this too - so you have more chance of getting some good advice.
Cheers,
Chris
p.s. I'm guessing you are Indian... I love India! I've been a couple of times for over a month each time and it's one of my favourite countries. 👍
didn't work on 2004 Vectra. This light remains on when driving :(
+Holyhesk Sorry to hear that. You can buy an OBDII code reader for about 20 USD. Then after you fix the fault you can clear any engine management lights. Cheers, Chris
I try it. it does't work on Zafira 08/2008 A17DTR
+Nedzad Beganovic Hi Nedzad, I'm sorry to hear you are having trouble - this should work on you car. Are you sure you are following the instructions 100% correctly? If the codes don't come up on the mileage display as in this video, watch the 'service vehicle' light (the one with the spanner symbol) to see if this is flashing... this is an alternative way that the codes can be displayed. If it is flashing you can count the flashes to read the fault codes. If anyone else has tried this on a Zafira, please let me know if it works for you.
Normaly, but i try it with diagnostic tool OPC COM and there is one fault code P1120.
+Nedzad Beganovic P1120 is an accelerator pedal position sensor fault code. If this code is correct then perhaps when you were trying to do the pedal test the ECU wasn't 'seeing' you fully depress the accelerator pedal, so this could explain you having problems with the pedal test. I hope you get your problem sorted soon. Good luck!
Didn't work for me. Vauxhall Corsa D 1.2 (2011) :-(
Hi Steve, sorry to hear that. You can buy a cheap OBD II Diagnostic tool to read and clear your trouble codes here:
🇺🇸 fave.co/2lbcQOr
🇬🇧 fave.co/2lb45El
Cheers and good luck, Chris 👍
Hi Chris, all sorted now. I followed another TH-camr "mr-fix" ~How to reset service inspection Opel Corsa D (InSP Vauxhall maintenance~ and that worked? Bit odd, but sorted now! Ta
👍🏽
Not working on my Astra 2016
Didn't work on my Astra J 2015 (Excite)
Didn’t work on my Astra h
5215 for the corsa d. I cannot find anything about this code. Anyone?
Hi there, can you let me know the full number that was displayed? There is a chance you could have misinterpreted it...
I've looked into this but I don't know the answer I'm afraid. I suggest you buy a cheap OBD code reader (15 USD) and hopefully that can shed some more light on the codes. Do you have any problems with the car?
Random Chris Thank you for looking mate. I dont have any problems with the car. Just this light is making me a bit crazy. Really hope thats its nothing serious.
+GamesTube My pleasure. An old mechanic's saying is 'let it develop'. If there is an issue you should start to get some symptoms. If there are none, it may just be a spurious code. If it was my car, I wouldn't be worried at all. Cheers, Chris 👍
Random Chris Just got my obd reader and found out that i have code p0420 which basically means that the catalist is broken. I guess that this is going to be a very expensive thing to replace.
Anyone has tried it on a insignia?
This feature is in all Insignias !
ECN
00000
Phew 😮💨
What about for an auto
you have to hang your arm out the window, put it into D2 then scream " fandabydosey"
doesnt even show error codes
P0070 ?? !
This fault code relates to the Ambient Air Temperature Sensor, which the ECU uses to measure the temperature of the air around the car. This may give you problems with your heating / air conditioning. You should check the sensor and associated wiring and connectors for open circuits / corrosion etc. Cheers, Chris
The AAT sensor rarely fails, more likely the plug or wiring.
Does not work on an astra GTC, shame.
ive figured out your problem m8, your steering wheel is on the wrong side..
That must be what my other error code was: 5318008. It made no sense to me until I read it upside-down and then all became clear...
