When I see young people like yourself putting effort into learning about the history of music - a deep and sprawling history - it's very impressive to me. I don't think I was as open to past music when I was your age. And anybody who is open to it and willing to learn about it is way ahead of the game.
Barry is in The Guinness Book of Records for songs written. Legendary musicians. From 60's forward on. No one could ever match them. All 4 brothers Legendary musicians.
They wrote most, if not all, of their own songs. Also, many , many songs were written, by the Bee Gees, for other huge stars. This is my favourite Bee Gees record, I danced to it in Disco dance classes. Choosing a favourite track is so difficult
So a baritone is a very low, deep voice. A falsetto is a very high range voice. Typically, it is hard for a male to do this voice type and it takes immense training and vocal range to do it. That is what made them so special and unique.
The genre of this music is disco. The song was used in the iconic disco movie, "Saturday Night Fever." Barry sings falsetto, which is the ability to stretch one's vocal range, (not using the vocal cords in the same manner as normal singing), to the upper tenor to male soprano range. Prior to the song "Nights on Broadway," released in 1975, the BeeGees never used falsetto in any of their songs. Few people can control falsetto to accurately hit the correct notes. Barry can, and make it sound heavenly as well. Barry's normal vocal range (not using falsetto) ranges from baritone to tenor. Robin actually had a natural voice in a higher tenor range. Maurice was a unicorn who could sing from the bass range all the way to tenor (and even lower range of falsetto). Maurice was a master harmonizer, and would sing in whatever range produced the desired harmony for the song.
The first born to the Gibb family was a daughter. That falsetto is Barry Gibb. Andy Gibb is Barry, Robin, and Maurice's, little brother that had a solo career. He sang once in a while with his brothers but not often. R.I.P. ANDY, MAURICE AND ROBIN
Keep going down this rabbit hole….its massive! Fanny be Tender, Jive Talking, Bodyguard, Words, You Should be Dancing, Tragedy, Nights on Broadway, Love so Right, Inside Out etc
Barry Gibb has the best falsetto voice of all time. He has a powerful and beautiful natural voice, too. You might give a listen to "To Love Somebody" from 1967.
@gaylalilea4095 all 3 brothers have great falsettos. And beautiful natural voices. Especially Robin's one of a kind vibrato. King needs to listen to Robin leads as well. I started a Joke and Massachusetts from the 60s, Country Lanes and Living in Chicago from the 70s, Tokyo Nights and Bodyguard from the 80s just to name a few. Man in the Middle and Closer than Close with Mo leads

The bee gees were born in England.Andy is 10 years younger than his brothers. As teenagers they were going down the thug life so their parents moved them to Australia where they used their talents to give us the best vocalists of all time. Thank you Mr & Mrs Gibb
Real music, real singer's voices, real instruments used, real lyrics that anyone could listen to. I was lucky to be born in 1966 so i love hearing this music!
The BeeGees are naturally tenor/baritone voices. When they sing with their regular, or chest voice, that is their range. A falsetto voice is a voice in a register higher than a person's usual register, resulting from a change in the way the vocal cords are vibrated. We can all do this but being able to do it for more than a moment, in tune and consistently is very rare. Barry’s falsetto is remarkable and stands out even amongst his brothers.
This boomer is very grateful for your videos, your using an incredible talent uniting the generations through music. You’re on a peace makers path which needs encouragement. Thank you! Keep up your great work.

That was Berry Gibb doing those high pitches. Andy Gibb is their younger brother. He sang solo. That song is also in the albums/movie “ Saturday night fever”. If you’re familiar with John Travolta, he played in that movie as lead actor and the Bee Gees wrote most of the songs for that movie.
All I can see is me being 10yo & JUST NOW getting cable and then watching the R rated version of "Saturday Night Fever" and Travolta doing his thing to this joint. BTW, the Bee-Gees were all over the "Saturday Night Fever" soundtrack and it was the highest selling movie soundtrack off all time (40,000,000 copies sold, 40x Platinum) and was only unseated 15 years later by Whitney Houstons "The Bodyguard" soundtrack (45,000,000 copies sold, 45x Platinum). Bee Gee's were one of a kind. Never again.
The legendary Quincy Jones gave a shout out to the Bee Gees with their groove "Fani Be Tender With My Love" and he said that song was the best R&B jam he had ever heard. These brothas were the best in the business over multiple decades.
Boston, Chicago, Bread, Foriegner, Styx, were all popular in the 70s, however the BeeGee's were great and unique. Another great artist who used falsetto voice was Leo Sayer, he was a solo artist, go listen to one of his songs, like "You make me feel like dancing," or "More than I can say." He's got some good ones too.
They wrote all their own songs as well as hits and whole albums for other artists. They were a group for 45 years. You are right may never be another Bee Gees (my opinion they are the best). Love your reactions ❤❤❤❤
Bee Gees is the best of the disco era! This is a great song…. It’s my personal favorite Bee Gees song. Well that along with thier song “How Deep is Your Love” that’s a classic too! Enjoy discovering them! Prince and The Bee Gees are my two favorite musical artist/groups. Earth Wind and Fire are my third favorite, so be sure to check them out! “September” is a great song of theirs to react to. 😊
Hey guy, I’m a voice teacher. They made their bones on falsetto/head voice. When sing in your Bee Gees voice that’s falsetto. When they sing “more than a woman” that’s their regular “chest voice” that we talk and sing in most of the time. Hope that helps. Thanks so much for appreciating the real music of the 70’s. My era… boomer music!
At The Bee Gees pinnacle in America (which was once they had finally perfected their iconic sound in Saturday Night Fever) they hit the tail end of the Boomers (the last of them were finishing up high school) and the beginning of GenX (who, being the teeny boppers at that time, were the ones The Bee Gees probably had the most formative effect on). I recommend Aaron Neville to you - “Tell It Like It Is”. He sings like an angel; incredible range. Before listening to him solo, listen to his duet with Linda Ronstadt, “Don’t Know Much.” She was another powerhouse singer from the 70s.
@@sue9197 yes they certainly did start in the 1960’s but their hits came in the late 1970’s! I remember.. so they started yes 60’s but money fame came n 70’s
You’re awesome to open your self up to the BEST music… I was born late 60’s and grew up with this incredible music… they were ARTISTS not singers. I grew up also listening to Shirley Bassey, Petula Clark, Barbara Streisand, Dianna Ross, Janis Joplin, Dusty Springfield… my teenage years were the 80’s… Elvis, R.E.M… Michael Jackson, Queen, Whitney Houston… too many to mention…you’re going to find it really tough to “pick” a favourite😂 my son grew up, not much choice😂, listening to the 60’s 70’s and 80’s music, so he has a great appreciation for it all. So, I just want to ask if you would consider dropping the word “like”… chuckle. I know it’s a gen z thing but🥴
Barry Gibb is the one who hits all those high falsettos. He is the oldest brother. Andy Gibb was the younger brother of the BeeGee's (who are Barry, Robin and Maurice). Andy was never a BeeGee. He had his own solo career. Robin and Maurice are twins.
Have you heard of The Monkeys, The Eagles, The Beach Boys and Queen NO auto tune. Great songs great harmonies top notch music. I also love the Begees very unique sounds.
Earth, Wind, and Fire, Commodores, Chicago, Gladys Knight, Aretha Franklin, Donna Summer, Gloria Gaynor, Frankie Valley & The Four Seasons, Barry White, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder. I can't stop.
The Bee Gees hold a special place in my heart. ❤ 15 years old, sneaking off to the movies with my cousin, to see Saturday Night Fever. We lost my cousin this year 😢
Thank you King, So cool your young self reaction to the Bee Gees. I’m in my 50’s and it takes me back to those magical times when their music swept me away. My 17year old needs to be on here cause she’s discovering music from my generation too like Sade.
They starting singing together as kids harmonizing, then started going on small tv shows in Australia. They did alot as kids and that's how their voices got so good
Tavares did the original version of this song. The Bee Gees did a beautiful cover. I fell in love with the Tavares version bc I heard that one first. So glad you enjoy it. BARRY Gibb was the lead singer. Andy was the baby brother who wasn't in the group. He blew up being a solo act. It was top 40, pop I guess. Thank you for saying they don't make em like they used to.
Excellent analysis. You summed it up really well. That's why so many of todays artists (about 70%) are using songs from the '60s & '70s. To the point where most people don't even know they are covers and are shocked when they hear the original versions. My prediction is that this music, as it gets out more and more, will come back and have a positive influence on the gen z folks.
Brothers Gibb are amazing. They have a younger brother who was too little when they were starting out. Andy Gibbs tried to make it on his own but, he never became as popular as his older brothers. Great song ❤️❤️
Love your interest indifferent eras of music. BeeGee got pigeon holed in disco type songs. The BeeGees can sing all kinds of songs and wrote songs for very famous artists. Soprano, alto are womens voice ranges and tenor and baritone- bass are make ranges of singing. A falsetto is when a male sings higher than his vocal range (especially tenors)
Bee Gees WERE boomers! The baby boomers I believe start with birthdates in 1946 and go through 1965. So they were early on in the baby boomer generation. I’m a baby boomer, but I’m at the very tale end. These guys were legends when I was in jr high in the mid to late 70’s with all of their hits, including the score from Saturday Night Fever. In interviews I’ve watched with them, they say they always loved R & B and that was kind of the direction they started heading in during the mid 70’s but then disco hit and they ended up being labeled in the disco genre. They say in several interviews tho that R & B was where they felt the most comfortable and that they gravitated towards that. All the brothers were so talented and just down to earth, fun, good people. I miss them , but so enjoy still listening to their music!
Andy Gibb was the younger brother of these three (Barry, Robin, & Maurice). Andy had a solo career. I was born in 1971 and had a poster of Andy on my wall. ❤️

September is one of my favorite songs 😊
Hey guy,
I’m a voice teacher.
That was Dico! Dancing like John Travolta!
The Bee Gees were the biggest selling recording act of the 1970's😮😊
Actually, the Bee Gee’s started back in the 1960‘s
Yep, "the biggest selling recording act" of the 70's!👍
Saturday night fever soundtrack introduced them to the rest of the world. Thank God…🙏🏼❤️
Beyond the 70's. They started in the 60's. Decades of music. All the brothers are legendary musicians.
@@sue9197 yes they certainly did start in the 1960’s but their hits came in the late 1970’s! I remember.. so they started yes 60’s but money fame came n 70’s
I grow up with the best Group ever ❤❤❤
That was Barry Gibb, his brother Andy Gibb was a star in his own right. If you haven't heard shadow dancing by Andy Gibb give it a listen.
I know it’s a gen z thing but🥴
Great group the BeeGees. You mentioned Earth, Wind and Fire. I would highly recommend listening to them
💯 earth, wind & fire. The Eagles harmony will blow your mind too.
There will never be any one like the Beeges they got a sound of there own they never wrote a bad song I could listen to them all day long
I just love that you love the Bee Gees, its warming my soul to see a young man loving them. ❤ please listen to For Whom the Bell Tolls by them.
Check out the songs he wrote for Barbra Streisand "What kind of fool" "Guilty" and "Woman in love" he wrote and produced her 1980 album "Guilty"
Don't you feel more relaxed listening to this music?
You are such a joy to listen to, young man. You were raised and influenced in very good ways. Honestly, at 61 I have a crush on YOU, hahaha!
My sons are 30 and 26, and they love the BeeGees. They have a good taste in music! ❤
Earth, Wind, and Fire, Commodores, Chicago, Gladys Knight, Aretha Franklin, Donna Summer, Gloria Gaynor,
Frankie Valley & The Four Seasons, Barry White, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder.
I can't stop.
You are a beautiful. Gen Z soul.
The Bee Gees hold a special place in my heart. ❤
15 years old, sneaking off to the movies with my cousin, to see Saturday Night Fever.
We lost my cousin this year 😢
In mine too they bring back so many memories. I just sit there and get nostalgic, just listening to them.
Sounds like you were close to your cousin. Sorry to hear that; it made me sad. God bless.
Their stuff SLAPS!!!!
They did alot as kids and that's how their voices got so good
The whole song sung in smooth high technical falsetto voice..... incredible.....you see..
This is a Bee Gees original.
Excellent analysis. You summed it up really well. That's why so many of todays artists (about 70%) are using songs from the '60s & '70s. To the point where most people don't even know they are covers and are shocked when they hear the original versions. My prediction is that this music, as it gets out more and more, will come back and have a positive influence on the gen z folks.
maybe we need to make all radio stations play the bee gees for a week to help the youth in this world.
You are right. There are none or very few love songs, few real voices that touch your soul now a days.
Brothers Gibb are amazing. They have a younger brother who was too little when they were starting out. Andy Gibbs tried to make it on his own but, he never became as popular as his older brothers. Great song ❤️❤️
You are a wise young man. I enjoyed your reaction.
The Bee Gees do consider this R&B.
Andy Gibb was the younger brother of these three (Barry, Robin, & Maurice). Andy had a solo career. I was born in 1971 and had a poster of Andy on my wall. ❤️
What I’m 55 years old and I grew up on this stuff. I absolutely love seeing your joy at listening to this for the first time. Brings back memories to me of the joy I had when listening to this when it was new.
That’s Gen X music for you.
Check out KC and The Sunshine Band, Kool and the Gang, CHIC, Sister Sledge, The Pointer Sisters, Sly and the Family Stone, definitely Earth Wind and Fire. Also Donna Summer, the Queen of Disco.
All the disco legendary musicians. Earth Wind and Fire are more R&B
I am 78 years old and have always love the BeeGees. Although not in the same "love song" category, the Beach Boys have a different sound and great voices and a few of them were brothers. I love your reactions. God bless you
Love your Bee Gees reactions!🥰
This song gives me goosebumps! ❤❤❤❤
*BEACH BOYS* You will adore them~
My heart just soars when listening to them. Definitely disco, no other like it
So happy I and many others were brought in this era of music. Certainly impacted me and my love for music at that time.
There is a dance called the " hustle - tango" as well line dance from the movie
Honored to be 1st message. I met my husband dancing to this song in the disco. We got married in 1980 and since this was our song, we danced to it
at our reception..aww memories! Thanks! ❤🕺💃
They hooked me when I was a child,
and it never got old!
@@pubuapubuaRight, I may be old now but Disco . .Nevah! 😂
That’s so wonderful!!! 🥹💜
My parents used to go out disco dancing to The Bee Gees in the 70s when I was little. They were so good that they were featured in commercials for different nightclubs and they won dance contests. 😁

That's awesome.
Barry Gibb is the high voice (he's still alive btw) Andy Gibb was their younger brother - had an equal voice and had a solo career and was a GenX heart throb (he died in 1988 at age 30) SHADOW DANCING was a top hit-- all were basically disco era
This is my favorite!
Awesome group and they are all so very talented.
You asked. I'm sorry, but no one is comparable to The Bee Gees. (Yes, I was alive then.)
There is no one comparable to Elvis, The Beatles...Eminem...Michael Jackson, Bob Marley...any great. That's the beauty of music greatness.
Do love your take. Keep doing you.
Gives me goosebumps everytime I hear there songs..they are from my Era ❤
Saturday Night Fever brilliant film shows a time I miss. I think you would enjoy it for what it is ….classic.
I love this Bee Gees series you did! I was born in 1970 and just loved them when I was a little girl 😀 keep up the great job ❤
There voices re very unique That’s what makes unique. Also look at the righteous brother
I like you. There is hope for gen Z!!!! Keep up the good work and share this with everyone you can.
