Look how young he and Johnny were! When I visited George's grave 3 or 4 years back, I was touched to see Johnny buried just a few feet down from George. From what I understand, Johnny died pretty much pennyless, and George paid for his funeral and burial. So I was happy to see that Possum is keeping him close by.
Tales From The Tour bus brought me here. I grew up on hard funk, rap and r&b but am slowly beginning to appreciate the charm, instrumentation and narrative of Country Music.
A totally great performance. They make it look easy, but in fact it's extremely hard to achieve that kind of wonderfully confident and harmonious musicianship. These guys were really, really good. Nobody writes songs or plays like this anymore, too bad. I don't know if George ever had a better partner than Johnny Paycheck.
We love this song it is alwaysa crowd pleaser. We have added it to our repertoire and it always goes down well with the audience, thanks Miss Amber we love your music too Paul O & Lind Rue West Texas
This is music. Holy crap, I've watched it so may times, but keep coming back. Freaking harmony like it should be before Rock-n-Roll screwed up them ol' high harmonies!!!!
12 year old comment about something now very much recognised that Paycheck certainly influenced George Jones due to the cross pollination from them sharing a mic.
just hit me guy playing bass n harmony is mr johnny paycheck
Jones always looked so happy when Paycheck was with him...
If only there were a couple hundred more hours of this.
Yessir!
@@1980bwc Jones always looked so happy when Paycheck was with him...

Thanks Amber, I'm a huge Johnny and George fan, and so this is just phenomenal.
And why Johnny still isn't in the CMHF is just a shame and a crime.
Its because Nashville is so political. The same reason Hank Sr. still isn't in the Opry! I hope they fix that one of these days!
Awesome. Two favorites getting off in a musical way.
Chiggers, nail polish, the Possom & Paycheck. Doesn’t get any better than this!

You're dumb.
You are a bully and a troll.
You got that right Cajun. That is Johnny Paycheck singing harmony and playing bass.
"Thank you ! We're gona take a short liquormission...."
Oh Man, this stuff is Unreal!! The REAL DEAL!! THANKS!
paycheck was a good bass player. he's doing some interesting things, picking with his thumb and fingers. gave it an old time bull fiddle sound.
Sonny Curtis just passed away October 11, 2019. RIP Sonny...
george Jones was 1 of the best voices ever, weather it was the 1960s or 2000s
Thanks for posting this is great footage...
Magic music and musicians!
Very awesome music I love this music thank you very much for sharing
WOW!!! SPEECHLESS!!!!
The greatest living voice on the planet. Fact.
I think Paycheck influenced the vowel holding sound that Jones is famous for. Jones doesn't have that sound in earlier recordings.

Jack Watkins got a Tele sound out of a full body Gretsch Archtop. Great feel. He rules.

Paycheck was a Jones boy then song wrote by late Wayne kemp and Curtis Wayne Wayne used to play with George Wayne kemp I mean
Ole Possum top 5 of all time. Hank Sr. the clear #1. Ye kin argue about numbers 2 thru 5.
the drummer is great! very very difficult to play what he is playing here with right hand.
Great picker omg
What is Johnny paycheck calling himself Johnny Paycheck at that time or was he still Donnie Laws?
Sweet Gretsch
yeah killer band alright. nice sounding gretsch. Jack Watkins you say? mosrite60
Wrote by wayne kemp and curtis wayne wayne played lead when it was first recorded
This song was inspired by Buck Owens' Bakersfield sound.
George did the Bakersfield sound as well as Buck.
@@RemingtonRidersMusic George Jones wasn't actually part of the country music scene in Bakersfield. He just took a cue from Buck Owens for "Love Bug".
"A lot more fun than chiggers and don't take near as much finger nail polish" 😅😅
Wow, video quality so poor. Audio is about as good as it gets.
Thats a chet atkins on guitar ?
No, it is Jack Watkins
What year was this?
66
Before Nashville got ruined by RCA.
George Jones’ eyes are so close together. Someone should tell him to grow his hair out.
Paycheck stole this
I love george but johnny always came close to stealing the show
Johnny Paycheck doesn't know how to play simple country Bass
Guilherme Lopes I don’t know why you think that
