The Cookiecutter Shark | Sharks of Bermuda Triangle
• The Cookiecutter Shark...
National Geographic

The Bermuda Triangle contains some of the deepest trenches in the world and is inhabited by all sorts of strange sharks including the cookiecutter shark. What interests you most about this shark?
The CoockieCutter is a Night Hunter, although it's name interests me too.
The name interests me because it is definitely a strange and different name
Can I use him to cut cookies?
I think is cute
its name sounds cute... but it's not...=)
“These sharks can be found at depths of 3,000 feet.”
Great, stay down there.
lmao
but there was a person who was bitten by that shark while swimming near the shore
@@sofwanlutfy4050 I think they might be talking about the incident where a Hawaiin swimmer was bitten in the abdomen by one during a competition in daylight.
Till night
@@baconbirbthegreat Good thing no one sleeps in the ocean. Right?
Keep in mind back in the 70s, the US Navy had to send 30 Submarines back for maintenance because of these *Cookie Cutter Sharks* since they kept taking a bite of the Radar Dome that was made of Neoprene. They thought at first it was some Soviet secret weapon, when in actuality even the Soviets were dealing with the same issue. Now they use different material for the dome and other sensitive equipment so the sharks can't just take a chunk out of it.
thats hilarious
So true
Just read everything you said in a article
I wonder what happened to the sharks
That sounds so hilariously on brand tbh
2:49 LOL
I don’t think I’ve ever heard someone say “a cookie!” so aggressively before.
"Cookiecutter" ah yes not a scary name for a terrifying sharks
Haha I was thinking that exact same thing
Sounds like a sesame street character hahaha..😀😀
No Brasil eles são chamado de tubarão caxumba
@@gustavowendell7937 You gonna force me to go to Brazil huh?
@@thecringekid1321 Nah! only if you want.
this is the most unique animal I've learned about in a long time
Which is what makes the name so ironic.
Well it destroyed submarines soo ye
Wait until you see goblin sharks...
@@elpoyo8062 seen them
Each animal in this world is amazing
I can’t wait to be a marine biologist in a few years, I’m in school for it now . I want to discover new and very strange species like the cookie cutter shark in my career!
Good luck
That's a really good choice of career..
I wish I could too
I really had that dream when i was a kid and i was really sticking to it, but unfortunately my social anxiety ruined everything for me. I hope you get what you want. Good luck 👍🏼
Good luck there, I'll pray for you! 🙏🏽✨💜
@@antonioconteandhislovelyli1604 olol terrible choice not gonna get paid
Calling the cookiecutter a "terrfying shark" may sound like an overstatement, at first. But given the fact that it was able to bring down an entire freakin' submarine, I'd say it's more than well earned
“And sharpnose sevengill” - showing a clip of broadnose sevengill in the eastern pacific
I like sevengills
i clicked this video specifically to point that out lol
ABOUT THE SAME SIZE OF A COOKIE I love the creepy way he says cookie
The dramatic music really helps
"Sharpnose sevengill." **Shows footage of a broadnose sevengill**
I was thinking the same... I mean who thought of that name for it
@@mechikaboombayah4960 My point is they got the species wrong.
@@andyfriederichsen Actually no they didn't
@@thickgirlsneedlove2190 Yes they did.
Lmao, their so horrifying yet goofy, I genuinely love them along with hammerhead sharks
funniest thing is they would just take chunks out of US navy submarines in the cold war. I think abt 30 had to be sent back to maintainence and the people would think it was a secret russian weapon
@@dxpreshawn XD!! Absolute menaces
I'm just gonna be a good little nerd and stay infront of my computer on the 5th floor 48meters ABOVE sea level thank you verymuch.
Tiny shark but takes scoop of your meat...im never going to the ocean
You're me😅
U can’t swim that deep. But I know u don’t actually mean that so I’ll not give u a hard time
The most painful bite someone would receive and live
What baffles me is,, the know more about space than they do about what under the water🤔.. madness 💪
Telescopes are pretty amazing. I can’t wait till the James web telescope is done.
Only in the sense of how much knowledge we know compared to space and ocean. Space is MUCH bigger and we don't even know how far it stretches, we've only been able to observe some of it.
But we don’t. We know about thousands of species and have mapped a lot of the ocean. We can’t say the same about space. We don’t even know how far it goes.
Don't know if you still around but that telescope is super incredible now lol@@palmeraviles7250
Going down to the deepest darkest parts of the ocean is actually harder than going into space.
cannot skip national geographic channel 💓
We appreciate the support! What was your favorite part of this video?
@@NatGeo of course the cookiecutter shark scene on the depth and always the inner side of an ocean its amazing to watch🙌 and thanku for the reply💓
1:47 Hearing the name Cookie-Cutter Shark, it is as if a shark has been kept for cutting cookies. 🤣🤣
I can’t be the only one who looked up what a cookie cutter shake is after watching that animated video with the blue belly
it's just like space but underwater!
So underwater? I don't remember seeing creatures"swimming" in space
It amazing to see the underwater
Fritz Asuro water bears swin in space..... google “water bears in space”
come on people, you know what I mean
@@siddharthkalia6709 Welcome to the comment section LOL
great this is going to make living in Bermuda even more pleasant
I would not accuse the CK shark of ruthlessness, but when he pays you a visit, you will feel the power of the circular saw of the deeps! This one dude was sitting in an ER room, back too camera, and you could see fine details of the room in front of him, by looking through the hole in his shoulder. Even without pain, a creature attached to me would make me freak out. I can't imaging the freakout dance I would do if I looked down at my chest, and saw a CKS coming through, from behind!
That's the way the cookie crumbles.......... into your flesh!
Why are these videos only 3 minutes long?!
This is so cool!!! What a specific niche to occupy. Truly only possible in the ocean since they can escape in any direction
It's a legendary spot alright so many new lifeforms 😘
Sensational wonderful congratulations
Imagine that taking a bite on your back and u can’t reach with hands
Another exhibit why my fear of the ocean isn't irrational
We’re really in shark week now, aren’t we.
The deep sea is so interesting!
Cool. new addition to my japanese soup recipe.
This shark just wants a bite of everything 😂
Shark week is so cool!!
Cookiecutters are cute except for when they’re absolutely terrifying
How sweet!
2:44 is hilarious and scary!
"to the sharpnose sevengill"
*excuse me that's a broadnose sevengill*
Terrific 🦈species in the deep seas at Bermuda Triangle.
Maybe it is time that the cookiecutter sharks got a taste of their own medacine.
Fun fact: The Burmuda Triangle has no more ship and aircraft disappearances than any other area in the oceans. The disappearances are only average there. The name was created for a movie and so was the legend.
why would you give such a terrifying shark a cute name
Could There be life of some unknown species in manila trench or Bermuda triangle???
Of course, lots of stuff, but nothing like some huge superpredator. There is not enough energy to sustain large, active, strongly muscled animals in the deep ocean.
They don't kill you , they just take a bite . Not that bad.
He really said "The Audacity"
MORE LIKE THE DALE CHANCE SHARK!
this is soo dark💀🔥
Unlimited supply of icecream for cookie cutter shark. Lol😂
It should be called the Melon Baller Shark lol
They dont give "death sentence", they give "life imprisonment"
amazing
Thank you, David! Never stop exploring.
Is there a link to the OST? That track from 0:42 to 1:09 is beautiful
just listen to lusine icl - language barrier CD instead
Oh hey, I heard of these guys! I heard that they did a number on hooman submarines back in the Cold War.
MORE SHARKS
Has anyone ever seen the bloodfart shark? Those things are small but dangerous.
This is spectacular ❤️😍 the name suggests something is sweet here but the fact is astonishing
We're glad you enjoyed learning about the cookiecutter shark! What amazed you most about this video?
@@NatGeo the shark hunting
Holesaw shark could also be a good common name.
Cookiecutter sharks are like parasites
Also called parasitic vertebrates
nice
Looks like a massive leach

So ominous, lol
Yyeyserrrr!!!
These scientists may know their sharks, but their knowledge of actual cookie cutters is lacking. lol
Why is there no sound on this?
*Seen lots of sharks while surfing/diving/swimming in the ocean, glad I never got a "scoop" taken out of me.*
Y'all named orcas as killer whale.. while these sharks are named as cookie cutter.. how high are ya all?
“terrifying” that is a BABY
I got bit by one this one time
700lbs RIPPED!
alien won't come from space it will come from the Bermuda Triangle
This is where trypophobia originates from
I guess fish don’t know what revenge is.
It has the audacity to attack WHALES😅
We’ve known about the cookie cutter shark for how long? And we’re just getting footage of it now?
Anyone else use national geography, bbc earth videos to fall asleep?
A large biopsy lol
I thought cookie cutter sharks sounded cute.
Well…uh…
Another reason I stay away from the ocean
I knew these sharks as cigarette sharks, are they the same or different??
Darth Cookie Cutter Shark
This shark must be named Dale Chance.
>2020
>science video
>use feet and mile
This is why I don’t swim in the ocean
Big Lenny doesn't approve of this pissening Shart Shark!!!
Whooooooooooo Caressss
Probably doesn't bite women who aren't packing heat; if you get my drift?
When I searched Cookie cutter this showed up😂
how come little creature like that can live deep underwater..
Hmm.. unique shark and quite a peculiar way of 'cutting' meat.
On another note, how deep does that tongue go though... 🤔
Came here curious to know if cookie cutter sharks and nurse sharks are dangerous
Omg mr beast just like my comment!!!!!
