Obviously they didn't intend to kill that shark, if it is on the ESL, and i'm pretty sure it is, or they wouldn't have been recording. Seems someone else needs some dairy free coffee.
Yeah, unlike the Tiger Shark, the hammerhead was being held captive by the fishermen. The HH was placed at a disadvantage by the fisherman just so they could get their gruesome footage.
+skurr Not sure where you got that from? It is very unlikely a tiger shark would attack an hammerhead shark of the same size, and in general it will only attack large creatures if it senses that they are wounded or otherwise impaired, as in this video's case. I don't think the bite force is all that different. Also hammerhead sharks can grow up to 6 meters, more than the average tiger shark and not much less a great white. Perhaps you have heard that tiger sharks are particularly dangerous, but that is more because the places they live and their way of feeding make it more likely for them to encounter humans. Based on what is normally found on their stomach, they seem much more likely to eat already dead stuff if they can, and take the risk to attack living things. Conversely, while hammerhead sharks are potentially dangerous, they tend and attack when they sense you are competing with them for food. So, going fishing with a spear near a feeding hammerhead shark is a bad idea. In general, most sharks seem to prefer a safe bet, and will not attack creatures which are big or dangerous.
Aldo Tanca You said it yourself in the second sentence. Tiger sharks would not attack a hammerhead of the same size. Clearly from the video the Tiger Shark is much larger than the Hammerhead and was probably seen as easy prey. The fact that it was already hooked was just a pleasant surprise. Shark's vision is fairly poor and could not possibly know that it was hooked from afar and probably was attracted due to the smell of the blood and possibly the sound of it thrashing. The Tiger took a few test bites to make sure it was a good meal and took advantage of an opportunity.
Allosaurus RCA no it probably wouldn’t have, see hammerheads are among the least aggressive sharks because their bodies just don’t support aggressive nature like tiger sharks, and often the poor hammer heads fall victim to tigers like this one just because there’s nothing they can do, the most it could have done is tried to swim away but the tiger was bigger it would have caught it, they should have jabbed the tiger shark tried to kill it
Steampunk Seven wouldn’t have worked the tiger shark was bigger and tiger sharks again more agro, therefore have a body built for it its got speed to compensate, I suppose they could have caught the tiger shark and given the hammer head time to run but it was bleeding the tiger would probably have tracked it down
The hammerhead could escape normally but as you can see in most of the comments it’s frowned upon that they didn’t let it go. Normally the hammerhead would fight back or zip off dependent on size yet it was exhausted and stuck on the line making it completely defenceless
Charlie Yang yes animals eat each other in the wild, but if the hammerhead hand been hooked and exhausted from being reeled in, it might not have been caught. Not nature, live baiting.
NatGeo should be ashamed framing this as a 'VS' video. That Hammerhead was on a fishing line, totally unable to fight back against a larger predator. In their eagerness for GoPro footage, those fishermen basically baited the Tiger into massacring the Hammerhead. If they had cut the line and given the HH a fair chance, they wouldn't have got the footage. Don't know who's worse -- NatGro or the fishermen.
ahhhh yes, yes. Why does Kruger National Park (a zoo) exist... Because... Probably because National Geographic love money about all else, and this video fits their sensationalized version of reality. Good call out

It must be a terrifying feeling to know that your not at the top of the food chain and anything at any time can come and eat you one bite at a time all while your still alive
Okay but hammerhead sharks have amazingly sharp teeth and are even known for attacking other sharks, so if this had been a fair fight from the beginning then the hammerhead would have had fair game and would deffinetly had a chance at winning.
You shouldn't be worried, no sharks want to eat human, most of the time they don't even want to attack human. The real scary thing is dumb fishermen who keep animals hooked with their fishing line to get a video and while doing so, feeding an individual of struggling species to another.
@ETHAN SEBASTIAN LAYANA GAMARRA true but at least you can usually redirects a love bite by gently touching the snout of a tiger and slower giving it a light push it's rare it'll ever go for the kill
I was literally thinking the same thing as Mark How. Given that this is supposed to be a National Geographic video I thought they would have given the hammerhead a fighting chance to survive by at least running from an obviously larger shark.
The thing that makes these things really scary isn't the shark itself, but the visibility under the water. You won't see anything that's 10 feet away nor would you hear anything approaching you as easy as we could in land. It's a place where all odds are against us.
I'm reading the comments and see people saying it's cruelty. In my opinion this is a perfect video to show how the circle of life works. The men couldn't do anything anyways the fishing rod was in the water from the tiger shark pulling the Hammerhead down.

The larger G. Cuvier got a meal out of it, so I say they did a good job. ;P
Not OP, but you do know hammerheads are on the endangered list? and the "fishermen" are fucking idiots, you can't and are not allowed to get sharks (only for science), if it were me the moment I saw a shark on my line, I'm cutting that shit, that's a big can of NOPE.
Obviously they didn't intend to kill that shark, if it is on the ESL, and i'm pretty sure it is, or they wouldn't have been recording.
Seems someone else needs some dairy free coffee.
TheroG0j1 I don't drink coffee. Never really liked it without a lot of sugar, so I just avoid having it.
The little hammerhead didnt stand a chance against the huge tiger shark.
Yeah, unlike the Tiger Shark, the hammerhead was being held captive by the fishermen. The HH was placed at a disadvantage by the fisherman just so they could get their gruesome footage.
Still, the Hammerhead didn't have much of a chance to begin with. The Tiger Shark bite force is much more efficient and effective.
The Hammerhead wouldn't stay around waiting to be eaten, unless it got caught by some asshole's line.
It’s Hungry Shark Evolution all over again
U should have cut the line and let hammerhead fight back. It still would have lost but at least it would get a few hits...
Allosaurus RCA no it probably wouldn’t have, see hammerheads are among the least aggressive sharks because their bodies just don’t support aggressive nature like tiger sharks, and often the poor hammer heads fall victim to tigers like this one just because there’s nothing they can do, the most it could have done is tried to swim away but the tiger was bigger it would have caught it, they should have jabbed the tiger shark tried to kill it
Steampunk Seven wouldn’t have worked the tiger shark was bigger and tiger sharks again more agro, therefore have a body built for it its got speed to compensate, I suppose they could have caught the tiger shark and given the hammer head time to run but it was bleeding the tiger would probably have tracked it down
Allosaurus RCA actually that would no of been necessary, the Hammhead being a faster swimmer would of been able to escape.
THIS IS NOT TIGER SHARK VS HAMMERHEAD..THIS IS A HANDS BEHIND YOUR BACK BOXING MATCH WHICH IS SO UNFAIR
THIS SHOULD BE THE TOP COMMENT!
This is not a fight it is a slaughter.
It seems there's no sign of intelligent life...
Too bad the tiger shark didn't eat the guy who caught that hammerhead
I get why people disliked
But it was two real sharks
Tiger shark vs hammer head? You sure about that?? Seems pretty one sided to me
The hammerhead could escape normally but as you can see in most of the comments it’s frowned upon that they didn’t let it go. Normally the hammerhead would fight back or zip off dependent on size yet it was exhausted and stuck on the line making it completely defenceless
*And this is why the water is a bad place*
I Polaris I After recently watching a lot of ocean wildlife docs...can't see me swimming in the sea again lol
100x worst back when dinosaurs were around.
Unless you're an apex predator of the sea.
yes, in videogames the water kills, because it is the place where the fishes shag
Actually dogs killed more people then sharks *BOOM* yet we think dogs are cute and think sharks are evil
If David is in a straightjacket, he has no chance of defeating Goliath...
Shame on you fisherman....thats not a fight thats just unfair!!!
Nature.
shut up liberal
Charlie Yang yes animals eat each other in the wild, but if the hammerhead hand been hooked and exhausted from being reeled in, it might not have been caught. Not nature, live baiting.
Not nature when humans had the shark hooked on a line. Not natural at all. Like direct opposite of that idiot.
Humans are a part of nature so it was natural selection.
The Anticipated Fight Ive Been waitin' For Years
NatGeo should be ashamed framing this as a 'VS' video.
This is truly a one-sided fight... I feel sorry for the hammerhead
Why is National Geographic glorifying the buttheads who caused the unnecessary death of a hammerhead shark?!?!?!?!?
ahhhh yes, yes. Why does Kruger National Park (a zoo) exist... Because... Probably because National Geographic love money about all else, and this video fits their sensationalized version of reality. Good call out
thank god Sharks can't easily smell human blood
Just when you think your day can’t get any worst, along comes a cousin to tear you apart.
Lets be serious, the real ,,easy meal" was holding the camera 😂
The Hammerhead Shark : Why You Bullying Me?
Thor will be angry after seeing this
WOLF CHROME no. U mean Poseidon? God your stupid
@@Jbread456 no he meant king neptune
This is evil, cruel and unusual for NatGeo to post this! Smh
JUst shark behavior, just eating ANYTHING in their path. They are opportunistic predators
Yaron Ajani Douglas no the people caught the hammerhead so it could be eaten alive it did not have a fighting chance
@@adrielcontreras7917 They were fishing for tuna
Yaron Ajani Douglas oh...but why didn’t they let the shark go?
@@adrielcontreras7917 They could not cut the line and could not go underwater and get it off, and plus, it would be hard to do it. As a result, they had no choice but to leave it alone. And because the tiger shark could bite the humans
Everythings a gangsta until a great appears out of nowhere
National geographic . I'm shocked your showing this. Whoever decided to have NG represent this vid should be fired.
Everybody calm down! I represent the Hammerhead's parents, they are still in mourning and we are currently trying to pursue an ocean class lawsuit against this atrocity for the sake of human television.

*Hammerhead Shark Gets Offered As Food To Tiger Shark By Fishermen | National Geographic*
Even without a line, the shark will still be forced to retreat.
Except, it can’t retreat…
It must be a terrifying feeling to know that your not at the top of the food chain and anything at any time can come and eat you one bite at a time all while your still alive
Hammerhead Shark: that's a nice tuna ya got there... don't mind if I do
Tiger Shark: that's a nice hammerhead shark ya got there... dont mind if I do
To the Tiger shark, that Hammerhead was just another fish to eat. No fucks given.
Next up Tiger vs hammer head shark 🦈 🐅
This Hammerhead is much smaller than the Tiger...would be interesting to see if the Hammerhead is at least the same size as the tiger shark.
Unfair advantage for The Tiger Shark
Yeah it's size
@@Misto_deVito6009 no, the fisherman never cut the line, so it couldn't do anything
@@ravelordnito6099 line or not, that shark would be lunch
@@Misto_deVito6009 Hammerheads can swim up to 25mph for a longer period of time, tiger sharks only 20mph.
@@Misto_deVito6009 at least the hammerhead can make some damage to the tiger shark
Okay but hammerhead sharks have amazingly sharp teeth and are even known for attacking other sharks, so if this had been a fair fight from the beginning then the hammerhead would have had fair game and would deffinetly had a chance at winning.
That one dude who has anger issue VS That one mf who always hungry
they should free the hammerhead when they sow the tiger shark
THIS... Fckin losers these "fishermans"...
It would have died anyway. It was too tired to get away. It's a shame but shit happens. Deal with it.
If i would be stranded i would rather be surrounded by hammer heads because Tiger sharks are fricken SCARY
You shouldn't be worried, no sharks want to eat human, most of the time they don't even want to attack human. The real scary thing is dumb fishermen who keep animals hooked with their fishing line to get a video and while doing so, feeding an individual of struggling species to another.
@ETHAN SEBASTIAN LAYANA GAMARRA true but at least you can usually redirects a love bite by gently touching the snout of a tiger and slower giving it a light push
it's rare it'll ever go for the kill
New title " Feeding tiger shark with hammerhead shark "
No worry hammerhead lover. The tigershark was later eaten by the orcas. For real.
The hammerhead was already wounded so it’s not a fair fight
“Humans & Tiger Shark vs. Hammerhead Shark” should be the correct title of the video. Sickening.
Now even NatGeo clickbaits. LMAO
If the Hammerhead has the Eye of the Tiger. Then it could have won. But the Tiger Shark just Nails Him instead.
why didnt the humans free the Hammerhead from the line. If he hadnt been caught he never would have been prey...
I'm reading the comments and see people saying it's cruelty. In my opinion this is a perfect video to show how the circle of life works.
The men couldn't do anything anyways the fishing rod was in the water from the tiger shark pulling the Hammerhead down.
It's not circle of live with a line Making the hammerhead stuck.
They could have. Cut the line from the spool
I just wanted to pluck the hammerhead from the water and give it a hug :(
This would’ve been a fair fight and actually exciting, but of course the shark had to be hooked to a line in the first place
No it wouldn't have been you lair
Hammerhead would’ve still got destroyed
No, they are not even on the same level
Wow hammer heads prove to not be a hammer lol
Still sad tho
wtf why Keep the shark on the line. JUST TO GET THE VIDEO Sad
I actually thought the footage was really clear and I was impressed at the movements of the tiger shark seemingly death rolling. Incredible sharks
"I'mma free you buddy.... Wait, you actually taste pretty good"
Hammerhead-san has been training really hard
Tsundere Shark lmao
But, Hammerhead-san is dead.
