  • I've recently come back from Singapore and while I didn't visit from on a cruise (I stayed at a hotel for 36 hours) I had been inspired to visit Singapore by watching other travelers posting about their time in Singapore while on a cruise! So I had literally ONE day to do everything I wanted to do, just like when you're on a cruise, and this video shows what I consider the 5 best things to do in Singapore, a couple of which are absolutely FREE! These activities include:
    1. Singapore Botanic Garden - they are unbelievable and are FREE to enter. They are massive and while you don't have to pay a penny to go, their Orchard Garden (if you like orchids) has a nominal fee to enter. I did and it was amazing. I also caught an amazing David Attenborough moment in these gardens when I saw two mating monitor lizards - that footage is included in the video.
    2. Gardens by the Bay - this is also another FREE attraction. Either come by day or at night time there are two special night shows which last 15 minutes each, one at 7.45pm and one at 8.45pm. You could do this if you're on an overnight.
    3. The Observation Deck at the iconic Marina Bay Sands hotel - this costs extra and must be booked ahead of time, but it's an amazing view of Singapore from the 56th floor. It is also very close to Gardens by the Bay so you could do them at the same time.
    4. Lau Pa Sat - CHEAP!! This isn't free but it's very cheap. It's a food market where the locals all eat - satay sticks are very popular here but there's also lots of other types of cuisine - and it's really good value. My Thai green curry only cost around $5 and was DELICIOUS!
    5. Marina Bay Sands Infinity Pool - this costs a fortune and can only be done as a pre or post cruise stay. Basically this hotel has the longest infinity pool in the world, and it's up on the 57th floor of the hotel, but only hotel guests are allowed to go in it...

I agree with you 100% David!! Am plotting a return journey already. The Marina Bay Sands hotel is adding a new tower in a couple of years, so maybe then!!!
