As someone who played the trombone in middle school, I can both attest to the hilariously awkward toots and simultaneous summoning of demons that comes with learning the trombone.
EDIT: Thanks for the 4k likes, everyone! With this, I can honestly say this TH-cam comment was the most successful thing that became of my mediocre 3-year trombone career.

As a musicologist, I appreciate this video and the accuracy of literally everything.
Edit: Mozart was an a**hole. He treated most vocal lines like wind instruments. He mainly believed that the voice and trombone were very similar because of how quickly they could move between notes (in his opinion). He also had a sister, Maria Anne/Nannerl, that he would take credit for her music once she got married, and she pretty much raised his kids.
I feel really bad for Maria.

I think it's worth mentioning that there is also a tenor clef that is actually used in trombone music when we play in the higher register. Additionally, unless you have a specialized trombone you aren't going to play many notes in the treble clef range without difficulty.

Technically you can say anything above C4 is treble clef, because while we read it in bass or tenor clef, it is still possible to write it in treble clef without excessive ledger lines.

Not gonna lie I’m a relatively newer fan of Game Theory but then I found out about the old GT Theme when I was poking through some older vids and when it got put into this I was like “Wow, such a throwback. The OGs are gonna love that one”

This is as close to Music Theory as we’re gonna get.
As a tromboner who played for years, I actually ended up playing some old Mozart music written in tenor clef, which I learned to read for it. In fact, I kinda assumed the combining of the bass and treble clefs ended up with the alto or tenor clef until I saw the weird clef design at the end of the game.

I used to play trombone in High School and I can back up the trombone sections are chaotic. When we were practicing we had to make sure we didn't accidentally hit anyone in front of us with our slides because the seats were closer than they probably should have been.
When we had our concert at the end of the year we had to go from the 1st position all the way to the 7th and me and a few others had slid are slides so fast that came off the end and we had to rush to put them back on.

As a trombonist, I would just like to say. In 13:05 matpat said the trombone can slide all the way from the highest note to the lowest which is wrong. You need to change how tight your pushing your lips together wich results in not being able to go from highest to lowest without pauses. Actually the cello can go a further distance in notes with one stoke. So I kind of don’t see how what you said there can make sense. But other than that it all seems to fall together. 👍
