I agree 100% with your views on the Himalayan, Dickie. I passed my bike test in 1964 on a BSA single, a 250cc C15 and I've owned bikes ever since. I had a Himalayan from 2019 until 3 months ago, but sadly an old injury to my legs meant that at nearly 80 years of age I was having trouble swinging a wonky leg over it. Makes me laugh when reviewers take the Himalayan on the Motorway and moan about performance but rarely dare to take it down the sort of lanes in this video. I've crossed over to he dark side now, traded the Himmy for a 350cc Step Through Maxi Scooter... and what an eye opener that is !! Yeehah !...😆
Thanks for a great video Dickie. Took my Classic 350 out on the back roads to Salisbury today in horrible weather and had a great time. Love Royal Enfields and tempted by a Himmy. I passed my test in the early 90's on a drenching day. The instructor's pocket filled with water and his highway code flip book fused into a solid block so he passed me in sympathy! Look forward to more videos.
Nice episode chap. Audio fine. Nice choice of music, I thought. Some time, I’d be interested in a walk-round of your Himmy: what you’ve done, added, changed, modded, decided not to touch… that sort of thing. I might be in a minority of 1 though!
Spot on that, Enjoyed the trails, the little look at the stone circle and just general chit chat as you take us on a ride around your part of the world. Keep up the good work with this channel 👍
Alright, Dickie? Enjoying your vids, which I picked up from WM’s page. Concerning the 101st at Aldbourne and Upottery, I am down in Newton Abbot in Devon and have good connections with the airfield and local living history groups with my Airborne marked jeep, “Jumping Jesus!!”. You (and Sandy, p’raps?) would be welcome to come on down and camp with us at home (loadsa room, big garden, country location, etc, etc) to explore the military history and to have a ride out in the Jeep. I ride a Himmy and my partner and I have a good few other bikes so I’m sure we’d get along. I’d enjoy seeing Aldbourne at your end, too. Cheers 👍.
Very kind of you Chris.. That’s an idea.. Sandy would be up for it..Any excuse to go camping ..We’ll sort something next year preferably when the suns shining .. 😄👍
Twenty ish years ago 4 of us from Honda were riding the ridgeway from Marlborough to Avebury, encountered a large puddle with no way around it. One at a time, we rode through it after seeing how deep the others found it. I decided to go close to the left-hand edge, but there was a under water slope, I lost my balance as 90% of my XT600 disappeared under water! Luckily, the others were stopped to watch each of us go through and quickly got my bike upright, so it did start after. 🏍😎
Great fun to watch, did something very similar with a friend last Wednesday around Davidstow, bowithick and Altarnun, couple of rivers and lanes,.thanks for the entertainment .
That was great to see those old roads again and some of my old haunts, i moved to spain along time ago " great bikeing weather " but i realy miss that enchanted atmosphere that old wiltshire has. I love the old simple bikes without electronics too, bsa norton triumph they've got so much caracter and they are so much fun to ride, they were the first bikes i wrode and im still on them, i do have a 2007 speed triple with no electronic aids and that's my fave bike at the moment. Great video, thankyou !
Got to admit, I prefer the older stuff Simon..But I love bikes in whatever form …The KTM was just Raw pure biking.. If I’d switched the wheelie control and traction control off I’d probably be dead 😄
Enjoyed this Dickie.. I've been swithering for a while over a winter bike and was looking at a smaller engined gs but I think the himalayan is going to be the one.. just less bulky and seems to be all you need. Might be some good deals flying around with the 450 coming out as well... keep em coming chap. Good telly 👍
Hiya Dickie, Thank you for a very entertaining and interesting video, I enjoyed your chat as much as the video, lovely lane if a bit wet I admire your bravery in some of those puddles / lakes.. Thanks and take care.
Great video Dickie, thanks for taking us along on your ride around. I enjoy seeing all the lanes and byways and villages you pass through. Its always fun to go for a ride even on a bit of a dreary day it does wonders for soul and clears the old head. I find I can be in a shit of a mood, but fire up a bike and go for a ride and in no time the world is a better place. Cheers from Australia
Great watch Dickie, I love the himalayan in fact I'm hoping to get the new 450cc when it becomes available in the UK. Keep up the good work and thanks for posting your vlogs 👏😎👍
@@DickieMintCycles I'm glad I've found your channel as been a subscriber of Sandy for many years and like him I also have a V Strom just like his one so thought I would like to join the club and get a Himmy 😊 Glad you have got your own channel and wish you all the very best with it, look forward to the next one regards Chris
Nice video. Passed my test 5 years ago in Jan, i am a little bit older than you. Bit more complex than your test! Now got CRF 250 for greenlaning. I have 2 other bikes as well so totally hooked on bikes.
Great video Dickie, nice to see all the old tracks where I used to go trailing back in the late 70’s on my old Honda SL125 are still open, ride safe matey😎
I enjoyed hearing about your motorcycle history , that trills biking sounds hard , have you finished building that bike in your garage I think you said it was a Harley? 😊
Hi.. The trials riding was great fun.. Taught me how to fall off a bike properly 😄.. The bike in the garage is an old HD that I should have had finished years ago.. 😳🙂
Great video Dickie 👍 Looking forward to more of your rambles and stories. Can I ask what camera you use, a go pro of some sort I guess, I'm thinking of doing a few videos but have no idea where to start.
All I’ve got is a GoPro 8 with a media mod attached so I can plug external microphones into it.. Most people use two cameras for riding footage ..one on the helmet and one facing you mounted to the bike ..You can’t get the 8 anymore so I’d recommend a GoPro 9 or 10.. Tip.. Get one with removable batteries.. The latest 11 has internal battery which I’ve been told isn’t as good…There’s loads of extras you can buy for the GoPro different mounts , sticks, lens protectors etc. You name it someone will make it…👍
250 superdream takes me back, had the 250 dream it came out a couple of years before the superdream. Great video,, will we get a review of the new Himmy???
The Dream looked a lot better I reckon.. Didn’t make them for long then switched to the super dream for what ever reason…. The 450? Got to really I guess 😄👍
I miss my old trail bike CRF250X. Would you say the Himmy would suit some tall (6’5” here!). I’m torn between that and the CRF300L. Miss pottering around the lanes

The roads around here are well suited to the Himi A and B roads plus lots of single track with passing places. Nearest motorway must be 50 miles away! Can you tell me what screen you have as it looks a lot taller then standard? Cheers Mike

Thanks for your reply Dickie. I'll check them out, I think an upgrade might be worth while for some extra height and width - I think my later bike with the Tripper narrows quite markedly above instrument level. Can I ask, for comparison purposes how tall you are? I'm 5'10". I'm hoping to get a bit more wind and rain protection without lots of wind noise caused by the screen itself if that's possible! Mike
I would never green lane on an expensive BMW GS , I think your bike is more capable, like you said put some good nobles on . I would buy a little second hand trail bike 150cc like that little Honda not sure what it’s called 👍

Most enjoyable!

I love a good Splash but I can often go pear shaped. Stick to the edge when lone riding as it can be a long push to the road if you need recovery 😅
