    The reason you could not get a good instal rear facing is because of the thick mat. Also when checking for movement you only check at the belt path and use your non dominant hand with the firmness of a handshake.

    Take off the seat protector. You can tell that the seat protector is moving. The carseat works fine without the seat protector.

    We have 3 of these seats and use them as travel car seats on planes and rental cars so we don’t have to lug our big Britax seats. There are tricks that WILL get these seats extremely tight in both RF and FF modes with LATCH and seatbelt installations. The seat does not have to be fully flat on the bottom when installed. I would suggest ditching the bulky seat protector, over compensating for the RF recline angle initially and not using towels or pool noodles. Once you have your desired belt routed for RF, over compensate the recline a bit and then with one hand press your weight into the butt portion of the car seat, firmly pressing downward as well as into the car seat into the seatback of the car while you tightly pull out seatbelt or LATCH belt slack. It truly will work. It will be easiest with the LaTCH belt.

      Izabella Gatewood hi there have a question I'm about to have baby #3 and looking to see if three will fit in a row and wondering your thoughts on safety for regular use of a car seat?

      Mama Poirier check this site. You can check car and year, and it will tell you which carseats will fit rearfacing together in your car.

    Please, please, please make an appointment with a CPST. There are so many unsafe practices in this video that could mislead other parents. Safekids.org will help you find a local CPST and car seat check event.

    I was hoping your video would help my decision to get this as a back up seat for our vehicle but unfortunately not. Many seats suggest using a pool noodle or rolled towel if the recline isn't right so that's typical of a budget seat. My biggest recommendation is that you check for seat movement correctly. You are supposed to pull at the belt path ONLY from side to side with a firm hand shake. If it doesn't move more than an inch side to side it is correctly installed. Grabbing both sides of the seat and jerking in the manner you did is not correct. Also, many brand DO NOT allow seat protectors made by other companies as their seat is not tested with them and can contribute to loose install. Thanks for the attempt, it at least helped to see the seat handled by someone instead of the plain stock video.

    Carseats are my least favorite part of being a parent and you would think after having 3 kids I would be a pro, but I am not I still struggl but here are the tips I have learned over the years. You have the same problems most of us parents have with ALL carseats. 1. while installing RF move front seats all the way forward, climb in the car behind the carseat and push from the back of the carseat into the seat of the car to tighten the slack. 2. The seat protector is probably a issue. I am a bad parent and got custom neoprene seat covers to go over our car's leather seats this protects my seats and helps prevent the slipping. (Don't do as I do) You should check with your local carseat safety pros after you get it installed for your little one. Also, when you push down on it with your knee in the seat you are on top of the seat belt and preventing it from tightening because well your on top of the seatbelt. ;-) I hope these tips are helpful for you.

    That seat pad under the Costco seat is not approved for use with the car seal. You aren’t supposed to put your full weight on the seat like that, push it, wiggle and tighten. You repeat. The reason it’s so loose is because of that protector pad-

    You can get a solid install but you need to remove that seat protector. Not allowed it can mess up your install as it has here. Also, pull the seat belt from the INSIDE of the seat, not the outside.

    I have this Carseat and it works perfectly fine. He’s using the wrong seat belt, instead of the latches and he’s also using the seat protector that’s making it harder for the Carseat to stay in place. It’s not where Cosco went wrong, it’s where you went wrong lol.

    "what did we do wrong cosco?" HAHA favorite line. Seat protector for one! Also try the inside/outside method for tighter install.

    We just installed this car seat refacing using the latch... same thing happened with it moving forward. I ended up having to sit in it while my husband tightened it. Absolutely ridiculous how difficult they make these installations

    Rear facing works perfectly if you actually read and follow directions

    I was highly entertained. The frustration when trying to install rear facing was soo real. I wonder why you are trying to protect your seats when you have a baby.

    Got this car seat and you should be that I wasn't wrong. I didn't like it in rear facing for my son. It's really really floppy.

    Can someone please tell me how to tighten these stupid harness shoulder straps??? I’ve looked everywhere. I know how to loosen them but not tighten them and keep them in place. Also mine is missing the metal bar on the back for the headrest. Wtf is going on with this car seat???

    It obviously going to move like that with that seat protector and the way hes shaking it.this ppl need some carseat lessons

  • @24lyndzb
    @24lyndzb 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    It could be because of your seat protector. The seat protector moves and you can't get it tight to rear face.

    We use this car seat for my son and it holds just fine. We use the latches and the seatbelt just for extra caution

    • @jamiesarver6893

      You can only use one or the other. You cannot use latch and a seat belt. Read your car seat manual, it will tell you that.

  • @rubymb8950
    @rubymb8950 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The seat protector doesn't help and you need to use the back latch to the ground. Maybe you just needed to take this to a professional

    It's because you don't know how to install correctly... it's obvious that your pad makes the car seat move a lot!!!!

    • @pelargir1
      @pelargir1  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      We don't have it any longer. Sorry! It seems like it would work much better forward facing.

  • @JeepGirl0821
    @JeepGirl0821 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    you forgot the anchor latches. that's why it was moving so much with rear facing.

    • @pelargir1
      @pelargir1  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We didn't forget them, we just didn't use them. Either the seatbelt or the latches can be used, and the seatbelt is rated to handle much more weight than the latches.

    Everybody saying it is the seat protector is wrong, I’m having the same issue with no seat protector.. shoulda opted for the white leather btw.. is this a “step” child cause I find it kinda ironic to buy a $60,000 car for yourself to put in the cheapest car seat available for the safety of your child.. I couldn’t afford a better car seat, but I also couldn’t afford a tesla

  • @24lyndzb

    Its because of your seat pad.

  • @kayelynbray133
    @kayelynbray133 ปีที่แล้ว

    You should not be putting a car seat on a car seat cover. Hence why it moves so much.. especially on leather. Not safe doing so and takes away from the point of a car seat being safe.

    This was painful. If you lift the cover as instructed you can tighten the belt tightly. Also, you should never place it in a full seat protector. That is not a sturdy or secure foundation to place a car seat on! We have this and it is extremely sturdy! I could easily reinstall at 8 months pregnant!

    Rear facing in an accident with small babies and childrends is even more dangerous! This video is crap!
