Elite series. From the Mets fans complaining about “playing in hurricane” when the actual system was in extreme south east GA to the Frank the Tank meltdowns that Monday morning after we swept was absolutely magical
I don't remember any of us complaining about "playing in a hurricane". I do remember the shot to the heart that series was after such a magical season.
The Braves went into this series knowing that they needed to win at least two of three games (mainly because they absolutely did NOT want to go in to the final series in NY having to win 2 or sweep to clinch the division). Every coach and player in a Braves uniform were ultra focused from game one on, and it showed (in the way the batters worked walks and forced the Mets top 3 pitchers to make mistakes that led to hits and runs, and the way the Braves rotation went out and sent Met after Met back to dugout). It was an amazing series to watch at Truist Park because the atmosphere was electric from the series start to finish.
this is why i hope they never do away with division winners getting a playoff spot. this season culminating in this series was too good, division rivalries like this fuel baseball

Both teams finished ahead of Phillies but Phillies were in World Series while Braves lost to Phillies in playoff series and Mets never made out of Wild Card games.
The odd thing is though that the Mets didn't do anything really wrong down the stretch, no horrible slumps, and they were a good team the whole way. But as has been said before, teh Braves that season werejust on fire the second half, and caught them at the end. I hate syaing anything good about the Mets, but there it is, they were a good team, that was in the wrong division that had a great team in it as well.
If the Mets had been trailing all year and just came short of a comeback to win the NL East, I think they go into the postseason and really challenge to win the NL. Them giving up the NL East to the Braves at the last second really killed their season as they had the “We blew it” mindset going into the postseason.
