All time favorite player for me when I was growing up. Absolutely love how Austin Riley has been able to step into that position and honor Chippers legacy. Braves are building a dynasty right now!!
Growing up a baseball fan in Atlanta in the 90's, Chipper was always my favorite player. I don't think a lot of people really appreciate just how amazing a player he was. Thanks for the video!
Of course, thank you for watching! And you’re right, he’s not talked about enough! Chipper’s career was fascinating to learn about, and I’m happy to hear you enjoyed the video.
As a Phillies fan, it was rough whenever Chipper Jones was on a hot streak - but i will always admire how talented he was - even with him playing for the rival ATL Braves.
Larry Wayne Jones Jr. is one of the greatest hitters in the history of the game. Being in the stands hearing crazy train with the game on the line, you knew he was gonna come thru for the team. Thank you for the greatest memories of my life watching you become an Atlanta Braves Icon. There will never be another player like him. He’s the best there is, was, and ever will be. I tip my cap to you Chipper your a legend to Braves fans.
To me, if you're a baseball player who, for your career you hit .300/.400/.500, you really are the elite of elite. I grew up watching Chipper, watching this video reminded me how truly insanely great he was. Also- I forgot he was inducted with Vlad, Thome, Hoff etc... what a class!!
Only one of seven players to have that career slash line in 10,000 plate appearances, with Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, Stan Musial, Tris Speaker, Mel Ott, and Frank Thomas. Not a bad list.
My favorite baseball player of all time, my entire life I can remember watching him on TBS 4-5 days a week. He was the reason I wore my socks high when I played baseball...He was always just so consistent and clutch. Rafael Furcal, Marcus Giles, Chipper Jones, Gary Sheffield, Andruw Jones, Julio Franco, Javy Lopez, Vinny Castilla and then the pitcher, that was my favorite lineup in the history of sports...like 2002, 2003 seasons.....Every game was just a treat to watch and I will always remember with fond memories.
I still remember as a young Braves fan opening up a pack of Topps baseball cards and getting his rookie card as my very first card. I decided at that moment to follow his career, and I never regretted it.
Chipper as my favorite Braves of all time. The reason why I played baseball loved how he didn’t always just try to crush the ball every at bat.. just get on base!!
I feel like a lot of fans sleep on Chipper Jones' greatness. I got to meet him at a luncheon for the Greg Maddux Night @ Turner Field. He was super cool to everyone that wanted to take a picture with him. I was also at his last game, the infamous "Infield Fly Rule" game in the postseason against the Cards. I wasn't a part of throwing garbage on the field, which was SURREAL. But in his last ever AB.. he recorded an infield single, in the same way he scored his first hit in 1993. Thanks for the video!!! POUR LARRY A CROWN!
I always appreciate how you incorporated who these people were off the field as well. That stuff gets easily overlooked in a lot of player's histories.
I'm glad to hear you enjoy that aspect of these videos! Ever since I began this series I've discovered that to know the player you must know the person as well. The challenges each player goes through shapes them into who they become. It definitely impacts their career!

For a guy in Vinny Castilla who played horrendously bad, although I remember him being a better defender, Chipper was average but he could make nice plays for sure.
My son started playing baseball in the late 80s. As a kid myself, I loved the game. I gravitated to the Braves as the team I liked. Talking with my dad, I mentioned how I really liked them. He then found an old picture of me when I played ball wearing a Braves uniform. Guess that's where it all began. They were an easy team to like in the 90s. I have many good memories of my son playing ball and also watching the Braves.
That's really cool, thank you for sharing! It's always interesting to hear different origin stories of why we all like and root for the teams we do. For some it's location, some it's family oriented, and others you play for the team first!
Taught myself to be a switch hitter like Chipper when I started playing baseball (well, teeball at that point since I was 5). Went to the Hall of Fame last summer while visiting family and got pictures with the plaque of my 2 favorites, Chipper and Griffey.
My favorite player ever. Growing up, we were in a different state nearly every year, but would catch Braves games wherever we were, including a handful of trips to ATL to see them at Turner Field. Still a huge Braves fan (and eventually made my way to ATL for a bit as an adult), but the 90s/00s Braves will always hold a special place in my heart.
That's awesome, thank you for sharing! Chipper and the '90s Braves have been fascinating to learn more about since starting my channel. They had an unbelievable team!
I feel like players today have lost the purpose of the walk up song. It's not about having whatever is popular at the moment, it's not about making some sort of statement. It's about making your opponent and their fans shake in fear knowing you're coming up. Chipper got that and every time you heard that intro you knew!
I loved watching Chipper Jones growing up as my grandfather was a Braves fan. Even though I'm from Texas, I always ended up rooting for the Braves against the Astros in those playoff series. I idolized Chipper and played 3rd from litttle league all the way to jv (coach moved me to center for varsity because i was the fastest guy on the team and could cover ground). Not only was Chipper a good ballplayer, but he is a good man and role model.

Cardinals fan here, I can even admit that the infield fly rule was ridiculous! I watched that game live and ugh I can only imagine if it had been the other way around. It was without question one of the worst calls in a playoff game.
Everytime i have ever played Madden 2011, i thought of Chipper! That was his walk up song and he did work with it. The only other baseball player i heard with that song was Jay Buhner...While I respect BONES, he aint CHIPPER!!!! Thanks for everything, 10!!!
9:35 chipper has said in a few interviews he picked up on Randy tipping the splitter so he knew when he was or wasn’t throwing that pitch. Or that he tipped all of them at some point

Chipper never struck out over 100 times in a season. Thats incredibly rare for a slugger in the modern era.
The hitting .300 from both sides is an insane statistic too... Especially in his era with all the big time pitchers that were around.
He did strike out 99 times in a season tho

Do Greg Maddux. Absolutely insane run in the early 90s and a ton of anecdotes
As a braves fan chipper Jones is a legend
Cardinals fan here, I can even admit that the infield fly rule was ridiculous! I watched that game live and ugh I can only imagine if it had been the other way around. It was without question one of the worst calls in a playoff game.
Everytime i have ever played Madden 2011, i thought of Chipper!
That was his walk up song and he did work with it. The only other baseball player i heard with that song was Jay Buhner...While I respect BONES, he aint CHIPPER!!!!
Thanks for everything, 10!!!
My favorite ball player ever. Also wore my favorite number.
Great video. Well done research. Props my friend!
Thank you for the kind words! I’m glad you enjoyed the video 🙌🏼
Make a video on how underrated Graig Nettles is in the Top 3rd basemen ever
Great player Mr.Jones
Make a video on Ted Williams plz
If you're doing switch hitters, gotta give us an Eddie Murray video. I'd also like to see Ryne Sandberg, Rickey Henderson or Canseco.
My brotha, excellent video. I’m subscribing
Thank you! Welcome to the channel 😎
P.S. There may or may not be another Brave getting a video very soon...👀
I need e a George Brett video man
9:35 chipper has said in a few interviews he picked up on Randy tipping the splitter so he knew when he was or wasn’t throwing that pitch. Or that he tipped all of them at some point
Another great video. Please do Carlos Delgado!
Jones was a beast.
Curious your thoughts on the incredibly good Gary Sheffield. Would love to see a video on him and that unorthodox swing.
My teacher play baseball with chipper in highschool at bolles which he played 2nd at the time then switched to short after he got drafted
