In America I used to think the AMC javelin was the mad max car . That was the closest resemblance I saw to what I know now is the Australian ford falcon . I like that you've made the best of what you have in your torino . As the man we call max lives now only our my memories .

We built the engines for the Australian Falcons at Ford in Cleveland when I was still on the job. 4BBL Holley's too. Their Falcon was based on the Fairlane & Mustang Mach 1. The Torino is close enough though. Sister cars as it were. The body parts kit is available from Tigermoth.

Nice tribute! You even got the BF Goodrich tires and the Sunraysia rims. I used to own a 1973 XB GT Ford Falcon Coupe back in the 80's, absolutely a beast of a machine but it sucked too much gas, I just couldn't afford to run it so I traded it up for a 1972 Chrysler VH Valiant Charger which was much more friendlier on my wallet. I think the guy I trade with converted the Falcon into a Mad Max Interceptor. Ford Falcons and Ford Fairlane's were common in New Zealand and Australia, everyone I knew either owned a Ford Falcon, a Ford Fairlane, a Chrysler or a Holden sedan or coupe.

wow, great idea to use a Torino for that. The exteriors do look similar with the Falcon

I've seen similar cars. That era Torino 70-71 with a third gen camaro nose cone is darn close in looks

I always felt the 1970-1971 Torino Coupe was a good alternative for a Mad Max replica in the States (just look at how much XB GTs are selling for in Australia, plus the trouble of importing one), and this just proves it! From the firewall back they are nearly identical.

This car needs more videos and breakdowns of build from mechanical to interior haha

Why are you hating? It looks cool and less expensive than an XB Falcon.

The mad Max interceptor was not a Ford Torino it was an Australian Ford falcon 1973 model would a 351 gt Cleveland engine in it

Yes that’s true ….itbwould be a bit hard to find one in the US ….most of them are collectables ….i would have done the same thing ….a Ford Torino with a blown big block 428 - 429 or a 460 would be my choice ….

Honestly the body molding looks exactly the same in certain areas as the falcon does. I wonder if you could get some of the trim for the front end converted. It would look just like the actual interceptor. This is a really nice build and honestly it probably didn’t cost near as much as some of the other ones.

The ford Torino from 70-71 is the same as the 73 falcon. They are built on the same platform the only difference is the nose and hood
